Gotta say, it should be illegal for a person who is sixty years old or older to buy a car specifically because it is fast.

I heard the speed limits aren't true limits. It's like if you have a porche, you can go fast, but if you have an 86 Escort and you're going 110 then you're screwed TICKET. I actually knew a guy that got a ticket on there.

Why's that? Because such cars have worse handling and less breaking power?

yeah, some cars are built for higher speeds.. and thus, safer to drive at those speeds. it makes sense really. as long as the drivers arent weaving.

I'm on the old guy's side, when you're forking out this kinda cash for a car, I expect it to go as fast as it's advertised.

Walter Rohrl is one of Porsches main test drivers and he is near 60. So you should say 99.9% of 60 year olds shouldn't drive that fast.

:)

He's not going anywhere and saying "I want that car, it's faster than the rest", he's test driving them as his job.

ANYBODY who buys a car because it can go really fast should be kicked hard in the crotch, it's just that it's especially stupid when an old person does it.

The moment you say "How fast does this car go?", the salesperson should be required by worldwide law to say "It doesn't go at all for you, you dumb fuck. Get on a bus where you're not in control"

I'm gonna side with him. If I'm going to fork over that much money, it better damn well perform as advertised. I mean, wouldn't you *expect* it to?

Why is this news?

And how does he know that it's not just an inaccurate speedometer? Mine is off by 5 mph at 60 and like 10 at 100.

Time to calm down......

Age aside, the guy expected a certain level of performance from his purchase and wasn't satisfied because it can't reach it so he returned it. I fail to see the big deal. It's not like no one here hasn't returned anything because they weren't satisfied before.

whats sad is, i paid 30,000 for mt 05 Nissan 350Z and I have hit the same speed he does :lol
Uh huh.. did you drop it off a cliff at the time?

Don't all our computers advertise a certain clock speed but in reality never actually reach the said clock speed? I'm pretty sure it's the same thing for cars, right?

If you had bothered to click th link you would have seen this;

He is now taking the company to court after an independent expert also found the sports car could not go at the speeds promised.

WTF? With this logic, any exotic sports car manufacturer should close shop.

And why does it matter how old he is?

They're usually high, though. Not low. So an indicated 280 km/h might actually be 10-20 km/h less than that.

And I truly, truly would be devistated if this happened.

Because once you hit a certain age, many of the abilities required to drive a car safely decline. He's not exactly "old" at the moment, but it's still too old to be doing something like that.
