Man... I never actually saw Kirby in action... but... wow....take a look

Dude... im talking about the play mechanics......

By the way... your post about you buying a DS was the most entertaining read on GAF ever :lol ... Laughing for a good 2 mins ......

Damn, too bad it isnt comming out on the PSP. COuldn't you just imagine those color paths on THAT screen! Plus, then everyone would be totaly stoked at yet another port/remake and be willing to pay 40 to 50 bucks for it. When will Nintendo learn???

Edit:

Also, maybe they could throw in some REALLY broken online wireless play, it would freaking rock!!!

Ah yes.... must we turn every DS or PSP thread into a system bashing one...

Focus on Kirby... Kirby people! lol

That video just makes me wonder why nobody is working on a DS version of Nights.
I think Kirby makes everyone think of Nights, and I think even Naka himself mentioned it in an interview. I've finished the game a few times over - it's that good. There's also lots of time trials and stuff. You can get a lot of play out of it.

That game looks very boring, no thanks to the pathetic excuse for a gamer controlling the pink blob. Can IGN make ANY gameplay video look good? They could hire some 'talented' gamer to show off games in the videos.

Hmm looks a little slow-paced? =/ Still interested though... we'll see!

It does look slow paced, but so did Yoshi, and that's incredibly hectic.

Time and again, I'm surprised how hard it is to keep up with DS games that require stylus input.

Probably doesn't help that the guy playing seems to have never played a videogame before.

The person playing in the videos is not really doing a good job of demonstrating how the game works. Having said that, you don't get comfortable with the controls until the 4th world, probably. Once you've played it longer, it's smooth and fast. He was running out of ink and dilly-dallying all over the place in his videos. Time trials see you blasting through a lot of stages in 30 seconds, so it can be pretty speedy.

I've been a DS hater from the get-go (while at the same time recognizing it's potential, but thinking that it will never be harnessed), and I really like what I see with this game.

I do think that the graphics are far too plain and simplistic. I'd rather have a Super Mario World look to the levels and visuals...but again, the gameplay looks very interesting.

I'd never buy a DS for only one game though. If, say, half the games on the DS were this interesting and made this kind of use of the touchscreen, I'd buy it in a second.

To be honest, I had a few minutes to get my hands on the Japanese version about 2 months ago, and I had difficulties getting speed into the tiny pink blob too. :-/

awesome, Is it as good as yoshi but more game in there? Thats a sold if so. How is the length and replayability and when is the release date?

When will IGN learn it's better to have one big video insted of 10+ small ones? I don't feel like browsing for 10 minutes just to watch so many files one time after the other because quick time doesn't suppor a tracklist and the high resolution files arn't on WMV?
Well, I guess who ever played that sucks so it's not worth it. :(

Stupid IGN :(

Uh, it looks like the last GBA Kirby (which rocked), plus some color-cycling stylus path effects.

This looks like one of your old posts, just with the word Kirby pasted on it.

Yeah, Kirby and the Magic Mirror or whatever it was called -- Kirbtroid, basically -- was a really good platformer. REALLY good. I'm surprised it didn't get any love around here: it was really long, challenging, and had some crazy level design.

Indeed --- my first Kirby game evar, and it spoiled me .... a really solid break away from Metroid or Castlevania, and it fit nicely into that untapped 'exploration' genre.

I got Kirby DS in the mail today --- man is it ever fun!

I never did get Magic Mirror. I meant to. I will eventually.

I've been looking forward to this one for awhile now. I assume the reason it looks slow is simply because it is not played in a traditional way. I think it takes a bit more time for someone to react with a stylus when they're not directly controlling a character than it would for them to simply press a d-pad.

*bingo*

- the game certainly doesn't seem so slow once you get the stylus in your hand .... and it can get pretty fast with speed-runs.

I like the vibrant colors of this game. It looks so much like Yoshi's Island, and that most certainly is a good thing.
