D00D. I think there's sign thieves like that around here. I was driving around yesterday thinking, ok, I know there's a Kerry sign coming up on this corner...and it was like whoa, it's gone. PEOPLE MUST BE STEALING THE KERRY SIGNS.

I always thought they were for people who had no clue... if they see a large number of signs in the area for a particular candidate, they might say, "Well, everyone around here seems to like this guy... I'm just going to assume they've done their homework, so I don't have to think."

Or some kind of solidarity thing, where people can see the sign of someone they support and say, "FUCK YEAH."

more of an advertising thing. some of the local people don't get a big chance for air time, but if you see their name enough (the signs) you will be more likely to remember them come election day.
