LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. — Inside a burning Loxahatchee home Sunday, investigators found a bowling ball filled with gunpowder connected to long rope used as a wick, like something straight out of a cartoon ready to explode.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the 21-year-old man who put it together before he could light it like he set his former home on fire, according to an arrest report.
yler Butler faces charges of first-degree arson and attempting to use a destructive device. He remains in the Palm Beach County jail without bail.

On Sunday evening deputies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue were called to the 15000 block of 85th Road North in Loxahatchee to a fire at a foreclosed house. Witnesses told deputies they overheard Butler saying he was going to set the home on fire.

Once in custody, Butler admitted to setting the house on fire and creating the device. Bomb technicians went into the home and dismantled the explosive.

Butler does not appear to have any other arrests in Palm Beach County.
I understand being upset about your home being foreclosed on, been there myself, but really? REALLY?

He easily burnt the house down, why did he need a bowling ball bomb? I guess the question for Florida man is, why not?

Stories like these always make me feel grateful I got out of there.

Being raised there was hell enough as it is.

Isn't the reason stories like these are always Florida because police reports are available almost immediately to the media and they can pretty much make an article out of them. The source of this article is the police and there is no other independent source in the article.

I imagine we would be having California or Texas man just as frequently as Florida man if those states had laws to have police reports ready for the media as soon as they are made.

*imagines the beginning of Swordfish, but with bowling balls*

....damn, that's some ambition right there.

EDIT: Oh, it was only a single bowling ball? Man, that title conjured up something much more impressive.

Nah, just some hair brained looney toons shit.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
His Goatee has a goatee!
Oh my, god, I would never have noticed...
If the Florida Man super hero comic that GAF discusses ever comes to fruition, this needs to be part of the design.

What is it with Florida. Someone needs to check the drinking water. Too many crazy and bazaar stories coming out of Florida to be a coincidence.

Par for the course for Florida man it seems.

He bounced back really quickly from his self inflicted wounds. He regrew his arms, revived himself from a self inflicted gun shot to the head all to pull this stunt. Its quite remarkable.
