That's a great commentary piece; give me a few minutes, and I'll upload a higher-quality version with the preceding interview.

edit:

Okay, here it is. All I ask is that you guys don't spread the link too far. ;)

Very very very well worded. This is the kind of commentary we need. This isn't a 'blame game', and to call it such cheapens all of those who died at the expense of a government who was far to slow to respond.

Cheers, I'll be passing this around on my own end. Thanks for the link.

Great commentary. KO on point like a mofo, and calling out both dems and reps, like he's supposed to. The city of Louisiana thanks him. PEACE.

Great commentary, and the best quote: "This administration has proved that it cannot save us from the biological threat called standing water." It's so true. I thought we were going to be better equipped to handle large scale disasters after 9/11. What the hell happened?

I suppose the answer would be is that we have an administration in place that believes that government is inherently evil, except when it comes to pouring resources into Iraq. Who the hell knows anymore what the motivation for that war is. Oh right, to keep us safe. Well look, tens of thouands of people dying on the streets of New Orleans, good freakin' job keeping them safe. But I digress- when you think government is evil and you keep stripping it away, when something like this happens, there isin't going to be a means of helping anymore.

That was pretty damn good. I can't believe I grew up watching this guy doing sports highlights on Sportscenter with Dan Patrick

At the risk of derailing the thread, I just want to comment on this idea. If you continually strip away the government, to the point where something like this happens at which point Public outcry demands the government helps at a much larger cost, it becomes increasingly easier to cut funding for future projects that would keep us safe.

Case in point being New Orleans/Louisiana. The cost of upgrading the levis would have been between $150-$200 million dollars. The initial funding granted for this disaster? $10 billion dollars. The total cost for cleaning this up and managing the refugees could reach $200 billion dollars in some estimates, but definately at least $100 billion dollars. Now that we have spent all of this additional money, where does it come from? We cut more government projects and basic infrastructure to make up the money and we create even more situaitons like N.O. It's sickening.

great editorial, and because he's a former sportscenter anchor, he gets sports sayings to describe it's awesomeness.

"BRING ME YOUR FINEST MEATS AND CHEESES, FOR I AM THE GREATEST IN ALL THE LAND!" Kenny Mayne sums it up.

Annnnnd the Bush ownage continues. I love it.
+1 Keith Olbermann.

Can't we consolidate all these threads into the Katrina one or that other one that was supposed to be about Bush bitching? They've been like 10 threads posted today that all rehashed information in those threads....not that I mind seeing Olbermann get more attention for being one of the very, very few people on television that actually seems to get it.

Macam for mod!

A STRONGER GAF!

The gesture and jest is appreciated, but the last thing I want to do is mod another forum, let alone one has hectic as GAF. Besides, given the wonderful treatment -jinx- got, I think it's best for everyone if I stay just being a liberal, elitist asshole.

You mod another forum?
where?

I'm not one for titles, so maybe I'm a libertarian, maybe not. Surely there's some overlap between libertarian and liberal :)

And no, I don't mod another forum, but I used to mod Cloudchaser's (videogame network) back around 2000 or so, and that was enough of a headache for me. You just get to a point where you start wanting to ban, well, everyone.
