Mandalorian Season 2 | DIsney+ | October 30th

Liked the episode. My one issue with it is that it's too much a direct western/local sheriff homage. It would have been more crafty to keep the language within the SW theme. I felt like the townsfolk all acted/talked like it was Gunsmoke. However, the Tuskan Raider stuff was all very SW universe and the shot of them rolling into town was the right mix between the two genres.

I hope that's not Bobba Fett but who knows. Hopefully Space Raylen Gun Givens comes back.

Surely it's one of the clones and not Fett. Why would he stay on the planet all these years and just give up his armour?

Could actually be a possibility. He’s significantly aged for a timeframe that’s just a few years later. Boba had regular aging.

Of course, more likely is that Temuera Morrison is an awesome actor, callback to the prequels, and a little suspension of disbelief is worth it, lol.

I’ve been watching the... I forget what it’s called, on Disney+, where they go behind the scenes of the show, and all the decisions made. It’s wonderful entertainment, with so many insights into Star Wars, filmmaking, and technology in general. I really recommend it while you’re waiting for more episodes.

They can always retcon the aging thing, like he is the last remaining clone and he watched his fellow team mates die naturally.
Why isn't he aging quickly like the rest?
WHO KNOWS!!!!
Don't matter.

At this point, the clones have more personality and a greater following than Mr Fett.
I'll personally be disappointed if it's Fett. We shall see.

Also, it'd be weird to have 2 main Mandalorian's on the show and Fett might overshadow the main star.

Dead characters should stay dead. No exception.

Except we never saw Boba Fett die. C3PO states "in its belly, you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over 1000 years". There was no reason to believe he died based on what we saw on screen. It's not like he got cut in half by a lightsaber or you know, thrown down a shaft and blown up.....

That episode reminded me straight up as an homage to SWG gamers going Krayt hunting to get pearls for your lightsabers.

Down to even meeting up at a nearby shack/house (to get geared up and buffed) before heading out to hunt.

Having watched the behind-the-scenes doc, Favreau straight said they were pulling from old videogames (citing Force Unleashed). I wouldn’t be surprised at all. Either that or Kotor. So many 90s/2000s Star Wars game nerds have probably grown up and are in the television industry now.

Oh sweet. Most definitely SWG then. That was vibing with nostalgia so hard, down to the Krayt Dragon Pearl shot and excitement for getting it.

I really enjoyed the episode. Using a lot of expanded universe stuff like the Krayt Pearl. I was impressed at how good it looked and if this was filmed in their studio and not Tunisia it was hard to tell most of the time. I really enjoyed expanding the Sand People and not just making them mindless killing nomads.

Love the focus on individual stories with a small overarc focus
i hope they look at how this series is made and expand it into other franchises as it actually feels satisfying each week waiting for an episode

CHAPTER 10: THE PASSGENGER

Holy crap that was good. I really enjoyed that. May not have advanced the overarching plot much, but it provided a nice sidetrack and delivered us some nice Star Wars thrills.

I thought it was just going to be a fun humorous episode with Baby Yoda eating up the Frog Lady's eggs. But it swerved beautifully into scifi horror with those spiders. And I was surprised that the X-Wing pilots saved Mando's ass after they found out his good deeds way back in Chapter 6. Goes to show that the New Republic are the good guys as they should be. This is Star Wars of course, not a morally ambiguous series like Game of Thrones or (blech!) Star Trek under Alex Kurtzmann.

Look forward for the next episode.

Liking the new season so far, granted my expectations for all things Star Wars aren't that high. I'm not sold on whether I like the fact there isn't heavy focus on an overall-arc.

Quite frankly I'm glad the series isn't focusing on an arc and is just taking it's time to tell it's story, albeit in episodic form. I'm sick of tv shows nowadays relying on an overarching plot that viewers need to follow rather than crafting good individual episodes that build character and expand the world.

That was one of my major disappointments with Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher. It scrapped the episodic nature of the original short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski in favor of inserting elements of the novel saga to create an overarching storyline. I could follow it just fine only because I've read the books, but regular people would have just been confused by all the differing timelines.

I don't see how Fett could have survived but then lost his armor. Unless the jawas pulled him out for some reason and stripped it off his unconscious body. I hope that is just a surviving clone (but it is probably Fett).

I really really really want Assassin's Creed:Mando. His suit gives him all the powers/gadgets you need to go hunting down mandalorian relics across the Galaxy :p

Well you did just see a mandolorian jetpack out of a beast's stomach this episode, so maybe Fett did it off screen?

Watched the first two episodes with the wife this morning and we really enjoyed them. Seeing Tusken Raiders given a spotlight is really amazing, I always loved the Sand People toys when I was a kid. Favreau just gets Star Wars, I hope he continues to work on the franchise.

My one fear for this season was them leaning into the cute factor of Baby Yoda since it is so popular, but so far they aren't overplaying that aspect.

I think i watched a different episode to you guys, i just saw 40 something min of pointless filler in an already short season

Yeah, I like S2 Ep1 better than Ep2. It just dragged a bit this one. There was some nice throw backs along with well tied together writing but overall I want to see progression not side quests. I still don't understand why shows have to move at such slow paces rather than write fast paced changing shows.

Mando is a douche he doesn't repair the ship cause he wanted to take a nap lol. Then changes his mind cause Gex told him what he already knew before leaving Tatooine.

The episode felt somewhat flat to me, but I still enjoyed it parts of it. Thats about what I expect of the show now.
The jetpack action was sweet. I also laughed when the giant worm ate the sandman instead of the Bantha and also when Mando hit Fetts jetpack (the same way Han Solo did), which caused it to erratically fly off without its wearers permission. lol.

Second episode had more of The Child and so was automatically better for me.
Some of the X-Wing shots were awesome and the spider creatures were great too. I thought the X-Wing chase and then the race back to the ship to escape the spider creatures were better action scenes than the ones in the first episode.

The ending was a little bit cringe though and felt very 'Disney'. It's like they wanted to point out that even though The Mando is a bounty hunter and kills people he's still kind of a 'good guy' because he's cool with the New Republic as he deals with a lot of 'bad guys'. Yawn.
Despite the cheesy ending it was still overall a really good episode though.

As an audience we are rooting for Mando, to us he is the good guy of the story. I don't think they want us looking at the New Republic as being no better than the Empire. Acknowledging his good deeds is a good thing IMO.

Obviously if it was the Empire and they thought Mando was Rebel Alliance they would have shot him down no question. I liked that the X-Wing pilots just pursued him without shooting.

The end was a bit of a " get out of jail" free card. They got out of the situation a little too easily but I can live with it. They still left him there stranded and weren't overly friendly.

recently just finished season 1 (I know, I know, RLTTP). it dawned on me that this is basically a sci-fi version of Lone Wolf and Cub.

I've really enjoy it so far and just started season 2.

Yeah. I’ve never seen it, but they cited it as an influence, and one of the movies they checked out to get in Lucas’ mindset.

I really enjoyed the latest episode.

I think it’s a combination of me more understanding what this show is, and it getting better, but I’ve come to genuinely look forward to and enjoy my little adventure every week. It’s so different from anything else out there, which will have tons of dialogue and character work. I don’t really know how to describe it, just that’s it’s really cool and unique.

I hate being that person, but I kind of missed the baby in the first episode. Having lots of cute and funny moments throughout this was really enjoyable. The egg-eating gag was played perfectly, and was absolutely cracking me up, especially the ending.

I actually hated the goofy aliens at first, literal Lucas Blue Elephant tier, but they really grew on me. The frog run was straight up awesome. In general, I think it’s awesome that they seem to be the last major production on earth actually using real puppets and effects, and with that level of creativity to the characters.

I like how it basically takes different genres and veers them into Star Wars. The Western vibes in first episode with a huge dragon hunt scene was epic, this was more intimate and horror-like at the end. Those reminded me of creatures from Star Wars Rebels as well.

First episode was better but when quality is this good it's hard to criticisise.

I don't understand the filler argument. Get used to it. This is a throw back to singular focused stories in each story. It is not going to be like modern TV. Yet despite that each episode still has lines connecting it to other episodes.

This show will shine watching all the episodes back to back at the end of the season. Season 1 was great the second time around on a binge watch.

Ep 2 was good as it was a horror, it called back to the prison break episode and we learned more about the New Republic. Damn space cops fucking everything up. We see that Not only is the Child cute but his insatiable appetite makes him a complete asshole.

Yeah I really like how most of the episodes are self contained, stand alone, stories yet they often still have small references/lines connecting the episode to previous episodes.

I haven't re-watched season 1 yet but plan to binge seasons 1 and 2 once complete so that I can pick up on all of the world building and references to previous episodes.

The Child is gonna end up a monster. The ittle cheeky look that he gives Mando after every major kill :messenger_tears_of_joy:
