Can anyone explain to me the significance of the weight of denim?
I see/own a lot of pairs that are advertised as 10oz, 12oz, 16oz, 22oz, etc. yet I've never really known what to make of it. Does a heavier denim just make it sturdier (ideally)?

From my understanding heavier= warmer,sturdier,harder to fade. I might be wrong though so I'll let others weigh in.

To be fair, though, it's Donny that I look more like.
lolol. I'll absolutely take trying too hard over the two most common societal extremes of wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a suit all the time. When I succumb to either of those things, it's time to hang myself.

Another weekend away, another list of females thinking im gay because I give a shit about how I dress. Starting to be abit of a drag..
The weight of a square yard of the denim. Heavier denim is made with thicker yarn, and is significantly stiffer. I have a pair of 22oz, and they still feel like cardboard after 6 months of wear. 10 and 12 oz denims are pretty light, but once you get to 15oz and above, it becomes noticeably stiffer/tougher.
From my experience, the heavier the denim, the better the fade.

Thanks. I haven't splurged on a piece of raw denim yet, but I'm planning to do so this fall so I can wear them nonstop til summer hits again. Those look like some fantastic jeans. I've heard a lot of good things about N&F, but is there anything I should be aware of? Any quirks? How's the sizing?

Sizing is true, they don't shrink or stretch much. Great for the price.
I'm not a fade junkie so I just wear them like, well, jeans.
Size down 1, as they stretch quite a bit. I have 3 pairs of Weird Guys, the first being true to size, which stretched in the waist by an inch at least. If you size down 1, they will be tight and a little uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks, but will stretch a comfortable size pretty quickly.
I'm a big fan of N&F, great jean for the price.

"So, are you gay or something?"
"No, I just know how to dress."
".....Same thing isn't it?"
Admittedly, the sleeves on my t-shirt were riding a little too high perhaps which doesn't help when you're a skinny dude like me, but since I started taking care of my appearance this has cropped up a lot over the years.
The weirdest was when a girl I brought back to my place used the bathroom. She saw I used exfoliator and questioned whether I should've even invited her back that night.....

I just take pride in my clothing and dont really understand guys that just dress like shit.. baggy past the knee length shorts, grandad style short sleeved shirts, bad fitting jeans and ugly trainers etc
The reasoning of "I wanted this because it matches this and goes with this" is what gets the comments.
After thats all said and done though they end up saying I look good and like the stuff I wear!

If she asks if you're gay, ask her if you can prove to her that you aren't.
Yeah, I don't get it either. I guess it's out of laziness... through high school, I pretty much dressed average/slobbish. Really only in the last year or so have I made a real attempt to at least try to dress better.
You can totally wear them every day depending on where you live. I wore raw denim 2 summers ago all summer and didn't die.

Thinking of buying another pair of boots, tried these on at Nordstrom on a whim and they were really really comfortable. Opinions on the style? The other pair of boots i own are Wolverine 1000 mile boots, so the difference is quite substantial.

So I picked up some linen button-down (edit: are they called "button-down" or "button-up"? I've heard both.) shirts at Uniqlo yesterday - I love the look & fit of them.
They didn't have the long-sleeve in green in my size (XS), so I bought the short-sleeve (got other colors in long-sleeve). However, now I'm thinking I should just look at either of the other NYC stores for the long-sleeve & return the one I bought. Thoughts?

I don't own a mirror long enough to take photos of myself wearing them, if that's what you're asking. (My bathroom is too narrow to show anything below my chest in the mirror).

Why do you want to return the short sleeve? Being horrified of wearing a short sleeved button-up is another of the silly rules/standards that never made much sense to me. If the cut is flattering (and this being a Uniqlo shirt, it likely is) instead of boxy or billowy, then there's no issue.

I didn't delve into my thoughts behind it, which I should have. Basically, I was thinking about returning it for two reasons: First, because I was originally going to buy the long-sleeve. Second, I've never owned a linen shirt before, and thought they may be light enough that long sleeves wouldn't make as much of a difference in the heat as other materials (plus, it would help protect my pale skin from burning).
I do like that I'd have one linen shirt that I can't wear to work and could look forward to wearing on the weekend/days off though...
Button-down refers to the collar.
Alden Indys. They will not fall apart, though they may be less than a 2" heel.

And now I know. Thanks. My parents have always referred to them as button-down, whether or not they had the collar buttons.
But then, my mom used to throw away the collar stays that came in my dad's shirts because she thought they were just part of the packaging (along with all the plastic, cardboard, pins, etc.). After I started working I asked if she had any extras, and now she knows they aren't just junk.

GAF, I'd never really bought a suit before, much less had one tailored. A friend helped me do both recently, but this tailored job just isn't sitting right. Being a novice, I smiled and nodded as a whole host of adjustments were being made by this 'master tailor', from hemming, to taking the jacket in, to shortening the sleeves a bit, to tucking in the butt, etc. to the tune of $120! I assume that's a lot, it's a lot to me.
After returning twice to see that further adjustments were needed, I thought I was happy with it and finally took the suit home. Wore it to a wedding this weekend and man, the jacket's just too tight, been taken in too much, to the point that people remarked on it (nice suit they said, but it looks tight - and feels it).
How does tailoring work? It's been less than a week; should i be able to take it back for further alterations at no extra cost? Can a jacket being taken in be reversed or is the stiching permanent?
I fucking hate formal wear. I can't believe I paid so much for personalized tailoring and the shit still doesn't even fit right. What a hassle.
Any and all advice welcome.

Anybody else see that Margiela and H&M are doing a collabo collection? Seems pretty interesting. But if there collabs with other high fashion brands are any indication it will be hard to get anything.
