Marathon Developer Insights | Runner Shells

I'm happy living my life never learning what a "runner shell" is.

Reminds me of "nopads" from BF2042, some people shouldn't be creative decision makers.

I'm really trying here but,

why do Bungie think I want to use that weapon model?

Okay I watched the whole video and the gameplay looks phenomenally well crafted, but does anyone else wish there was a a straightforward shooter package on Halo style maps instead of it just being purely an extraction shooter? It feels like a waste of some marvellous fps multiplayer potential featuring traditional repawns and various objectives game modes, curated in that reassuring Bungie way of old. That's really all I want from one of their games.

Arena Shooters don't interest me as much these days. Think that particular vision of MP is done to death at this point.

Also Destiny MP was a mess to put it lightly, I don't think they could do it justice if they tried.

Never played Destiny but it's hard to imagine how this amount of build crafting can possibly be balanced with so many systems in play. But I guess Destiny was super popular so they must be able to make it work.

There's going to be so much busted shit in this game if Destiny is anything to go by. But if everything is broken then nothing is and I'm all for it. :messenger_sunglasses:

It became waaaay too messy from Stasis onwards, but in its earlier days Destiny's PvP was amazing, it was my favourite online shooter for years. Crucible felt like the natural evolution of their Halo's gameplay, but power creep ruined it. I'd love for a game that offered a more pure return to those first few years though, as I'll always favour a more traditional fps design over the extraction genre, as there is no tedium involved such as long downtimes and loadout re-equips. I prefer to respawn and get straight back into the action.

It was shocking during launch window D1. I did play a ton of it later on and i'll admit it was fun but there was stupid broken shit what felt like every other week.

Laser tag weekend springs to mind and that Hunter super that launched ridiculously broken in D2, I forget the name. The purple invis one that gave you super energy back on a kill.

It was not fit to kiss Halo's shoes as a decent game of PVP imo.
