Art is so friggin sick
Look retarded bud. But keep the hype coming.

In terms of pricing, I wonder if Bungie could do both F2P and a paid release.
  • F2P = access to 1 runner that you can progress through 1 faction, don't have access to purple or gold tier loot but can access all the weapons.
  • $10 purchase to unlock additional Runners and unlock purple/gold loot. Gain access to additional faction.
  • $40-50 = access to all runners, all factions, all loot.
Seems like a good idea to me? Entice people that won't pay full price, but they can still play the game in a limited fashion and unlock Runners at their preference.

Way too convoluted. Bungie will sell a couple million copies at launch no matter what, imo. They have too many die hard fans that love their gunplay. The only reason Bungie would consider a F2P model is if they were genuinely concerned the playerbase would not stick around due to lack of content at launch

And after games like The Finals and X-Defiant, I doubt we see anymore F2P AAA GAAS games. The gaas industry is such a massive gamble that these studios desperately need upfront sales money to cushion the blow if the game ends up failing

Marathon hopes to be around for 10+ years, so I doubt they care too much about their launch numbers, as long as they are big enough to keep the lights on. From that perspective, Bungie would be leaving a lot of money on the table by making it F2P

I don't think it's too convoluted, if the game is great it'll entice people to buy up

I agree though that I don't think it's necessary, but I don't think it would be leaving money on the table because it would be pretty restrictive in terms of progression and if people enjoy the game they will want to pay for the full experience

Make it simpler.

People who pay full price for the game get two "friend slots" - Can't think of a cooler sci fi term.

Each friend slot gets 3 infil credits per week. Friend slots are able to store 5 infil credits in total. 1 credit = 1 infiltration.

That let's people try the game in an ideal scenario (with friends) but they get just a taste.

Change your avatar back pls…
I am the friend who gets a pixie haircut and it looks awful, but you have to say it looks good.

Yeah, but then you got people complaining about P2W ect. I would actually be annoyed if I bought the game and was playing against a bunch of players with a disadvantage. That's not good for anybody

Regardless, the open beta should go a long way. But even that may be tough because it will be hard to show the mid and late gameplay loop in a beta, with presumably 1 level

Art look like it was randomly generated with missing texture assets. Its going to be the game's downfall.
Tbf since the old skool whiners wanted it to stay true to the original(s), it seems they tried to somewhat stick to the pixelated-art from back then.

Sometimes you gotta be careful what you wish for.

Nope, it's distinctive and highly stylized. Clean with high performance and visual clarity. Perfect for a competitive tactical PvP game

It's going to be something that fans of the game look fondly of as the seasons progress.

Video goes in depth on lots of topics. Praises how intricate and organic the environments are, that have structures with real industrial purpose that feed into mission design

Speaking of missions, they are multi-tiered wild goose hunt affairs filled with Easter eggs that eventually culminate into boss battles

The game has its own lore codex with a marathon OG based hud that is apparently really well done, lore is obtained in game through extractions and read out of game in the codex

Gameplay is slower than Destiny and closer to classical halo and is not intended as a movement shooter.

One of the complaints of Destiny PvP is how unbalanced and chaotic it is. This game has tons of devs from the original Halo games who loved that series PvP and are trying to bring back that sort of competitive and balanced feel

Certain weapons are classic Halo archetypes. There's a Needler gun, there's a plasma pistol, there's a way to upgrade a basic pistol with long range to make it like Halo 1's OG pistol

In depth discussion of the Ship map. Guy says that it's the factor that defines Marathon and pushes the bar on what an extraction can feel like. He played the ship map a year ago and back then it blew his mind and he couldn't stop wanting to play it again. Says the concept has such massive potential and hopes it continues on in subsequent seasons

Other things we know - Bungie says the extraction success rate is 20%, and some Bungie employees haven't even been able to extract at all yet.

End game looking strong for this one, has me excited

Also, he says the various Factions are basically like a single player campaign and there's some really sick cinematics for each of them that introduces more lore

Guess they're saving the 4th map reveal closer to launch after open beta or something (it's probably not even finished yet to be honest).

I definitely like hearing (and seeing) this. One of the few scenes that was memorable to me about the gameplay reveal was watching Dr Lupo jump jet around that big crate and two shotting a player with that shotgun.

It was memorable to me because I f***ing hated it. I'm not going to be a Dr Lupo type player, I'm going to be the guy bandaging up like an idiot behind a crate, lol.

I have been seeing a lot of other players gameplay and the pace is way slower than the Dr Lupo gameplay.

I'd be curious to hear from PC gamers perspectives on the following...

"Gameplay reveals should be done with controller, rather than twitchy KBM."

I feel like the spastic, overly twitchy gameplay perspective of high skill players is unappealing to most people. Are there any people who disagree?
