March EGM - Have the review scores and such been posted?

Their complaints are that it's a soccer game and it makes them bored inside.

Wow...look at all those games I don't have to buy now. Kind of nervous about Champions of Norrath now. Just wanted them to fix the online interface and nothing else. Star Fox sounds intriguing with unlockables.

I was hoping that SF would get at least 8.0's across the board. I guess we'll have to see wait and see what other sites give it, to get the full picture.

Godfather:
Free-roaming, GTA-style game. Spans 1945-55.
Based off the book, so expect for it to include portions that never made it into the film
Hits this Christmas.
Screens are "gameplay target demo" of the Xbox 2 version.
Still quite early in development.
City is divided into territories, each controlled by a family, with an "open playground" in the middle. Sidequests a la GTA.
Character customization similiar to that of Tiger Woods' GameFace - weapons, scars, clothing, nickname, etc.
Voice actors include James Caan, Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando (recorded before death).
Spent over a year in preproduction.

The screens are the same that Famitsu used.

P.S. G.Ford 6.0'd Star Fox.

The alternate box arts (halo2, mgs3, RE4) are on the other side of the poster--should be in all sub copies as well as newstand. Let me know what you think if/when you see it....

And Shane gave RE4 the 9.5. He wants strafing, damnit, plus the endgame feels rushed.

He's entitled to his opinion, but that's honestly the last thing I would have said about the endgame. The last chapter is the longest, most polished, most action-packed, most awesome chapter in the entire freaking game.

wtf is with people and strafing... not every game has to have it (especially resident evil 4). get the fuck over it shane.

No poster for me :(

Is it just me, or do the Xenon mockups for The Godfather look barely better (if that) than Resident Evil 4? It looks good, but it doesn't look like much of a leap over what the Gamecube and X-Box can do already.

Er, I mean not the RE4 art on the EGM cover but Mark said there'd be a replacable box cover for the actual RE4 game. Maybe it's just for newsstand copies only...if so, looks like I'm gonna have to *GASP* buy an issue
that's a pretty cool idea, looks like I'm headed to the bookstore pretty soon. When's this hit stores?

wouldn't be surprised if both insomniac and naughty dog were *both* working on shooters.

think sony is realizing now that FPS is important in NA

Insomniac AND Naughty Dog = They will both stay in the same genre.
If INSOMNIAC GAMES developes a FPS .... Naughty Dog will do the same.
They will share their experience and one engine!!! That's for sure!

i reviewed star fox... i didn't actually say this in my review (didn't quite have room) but the tank does suck ... lordy. it's like a drunk warthog. it's hard to believe.

however i quite enjoyed the on-foot stuff otherwise. just stay out of the tank if you can.

What was Ace Combat 5's score from EGM? I was never a huge fan of the Shooters like Starfox, but I still was looking forward to the game.

Around the 8's, I think

I thought the end game for RE4 was the most amazing part. The bossfight with
Krauser was just sick

Otherwise, how would you compare it to Starfox 64?

Saddler was too easy though... I didn't even use the Rocket Launcher. =\

Foot missions resemble Mercenaries/Jet Force Gemini/Up Your Arsenal, or something I could recognize?

A couple more questions if you'll answer :):

About how long was the game?
How many non-flight missions are there? (not really looking for an actual number here)
Are there multiple paths?

Shadow of Rome (PS2) - 6.5/7.0/8.0

Ys: The Ark of Napishtim (PS2) - 7.5/6.5/8.0

What were their complaints with these two games?

Rome: Horrible stealth portions and equally bad AI. The rest of the game is quite fun. Also, Mark's review made thee laugh.

Y: Piss-poor dub, old game design, such as one-hit kills in random encounters.

WTF is with these fucking reviewers suggesting that more intuitive and enjoyable controls would somehow be better? Next they'll be suggesting that MP would be more enjoyable with some sort of free look while running.

10, 10, 9.5 is an excellent score. Especially since reviewes are not late to drag down points for lack of multiplayer/online in everything these days.

The known difference is that the game is like GTA, so in theory it would be RE4 gfx in a GTA-sized world.

I'd also be interested to know if the barbershop in the screens is more environmentally destroyable than RE4's, which is one of my largest complaints about RE4 (the only non-scripted environmental damage so far has been during the castle gatling gun sequence). Being able to destroy a big vase but not shoot the decorative plate on the dresser, or even leave a bullethole-decal, kinda sucks.

And yes, a strafe would have made RE4 better. Or a lean/dodge. Some way to reorient around a pole/crate without walking like you're parking a car. It doesn't have to be unrealistic like in Doom where you strafe at a run, just let me take a slow step so I can get my sights on the crossbow monks and maybe get out of the way of that axe that's flying at my face if I react fast enough. If the doofus villagers can do it, so should I. Hell, have Leon trip and fall down if you take more than 3 steps, I don't care.

Man, come on. He docked RE4 .5 for no strafe? The end is rushed? Wtf.

The last chapter is outrageously satisfying. It wasn't rushed at all. So the final boss was a bit on the easy side - that doesn't make it a rushed ending.

I guess he's entitled to his opinion of the game needing a strafe function, but it's not fair to keep the game from getting a perfect score over IMO.

If any game deserves a 10, it's RE4. Fkn incredible game.

WE8 can't fuckin' wait. Only four more days. Glad to see they recognized its brilliance yet again, the online play comments are understandable, as for the licenses what are you gonna do? Doesn't bother me one bit what w/ the powerful editing features.

:D

More Starfox info please. I need to know about multiplayer.
They say it's aimed at hardcore gamers. It's not particularily lengthy, nor deep, but the oodles of replay value make up for it. Multi-player is compared to that of Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and is "worth a few spins."

Oh, and I'm in agreement with Wario. Get over it.

The six on Starfox makes my heart hurt, but if the tank missions are at least as good as they were in Starfox64, and the onfoot missions are no worse than the submarine missions in Starfox64, well, I can deal with that. I suffered through the bad in SF64 because the good was so damn good. I can do that again.

BuddyChrist-

Do they mention if the X-Box version of WE8 is superior in any way (graphics, slowdown) other than having inferior controls? I bought a DS2 adapter for my X-Box, but if the X-Box version has no advantages I'll probably just buy the PS2 version.

Man I'm upset about that 6.5 at Ys 6... that game deserves better. Bad voice acting is enough to dock it 3.5 points???

Ok, what percentage is the airwing to onfoot sections?

If it is 8 airwing levels and 2 onfoot levels I'll probably buy the game.

But if it is like 6-4 or 5-5 I'm renting it. Goddddddddddddddddddd why can't we just get a real Starfox sequel with all airwing battles? Ughhh.

Didn't one of Namco's Ace Combat teams make this game? Stick to what you are good with stick with the skies!
