in other news recent polls see a surge in support for medicinal pot by those registered as republicans.

Its kind of funny though, I wonder if some of the stoners think "Fuck. I have to vote for Bush now?.. Fuck!"

I mentioned this in another thread, but people are doing this in Florida, only to transfer the unwitting signers' registrations to another county, effectively making it so they can't vote due to Florida's new precinct laws.

Disenfranchisement is fun.

It's funny that some Republican group did this. Now all the voters they conned will probably vote Democrat just to spite them. +1 backfire!

The good news is that it does not make any difference in what party a person is registered in the upcoming election because a registered voter can vote for any candidate on the ticket regardless of party, Passarella said.
However, if a person wants to vote in next spring's Democratic or Republican primary elections and is not registered in the party of his or her choice, he or she can change the registration after the Nov. 2 general election, he said.

I'm laughing because it's funny and because as explodet mentioned, it doesn't prevent them from actually voting Democrat or anything of the sort.

Yeah, I wasn't talking about this particular petition... just noting that there's another "marijuana petition "in Florida designed to keep hippies from voting.

The should do that to republicans. "Register as a republican", in reality it would be a form for signing up for the military.

Is it just me, or do the Republicans play dirty? I think I've seen more news stories about Republicans doing things like this. Just a week ago I read that a bunch of registered democrats were deleted from computers or something, which meant when they go to vote, it'll say they aren't registered.

Edit: Or maybe it was they're registration form was thrown out before being entered into the computer.
