I was thinking, with the release of Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 plus the movie based on Galaxy , it would only be smart for the next 3d Mario to be Galaxy 3, what do you think!?
Is that the same team? I thought they had two teams working on this.Considering that, by the moment the Bananza team will be able to ship its next project (next 3D Mario), you will probably have the third film out already for a while (that will surely have another setting), it's pretty unlikely.
Same studio, and pretty much the same people that worked on Odyssey when you look at the credits. Is that the same team? I thought they had two teams working on this.

Yeah, true that! Also, just trying to predict literally ANYTHING Nintendo does is completely impossible.
I think you should have phrased the thread title as a question.I was thinking, with the release of Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 plus the movie based on Galaxy , it would only be smart for the next 3d Mario to be Galaxy 3, what do you think!?
Nah! You'll be fine hahaI think you should have phrased the thread title as a question.
There's a lot of people who worked on Odyssey who weren't credited on Bananza. Bananza's director is a new hire, former Square Enix guy, so yeah it seems they have two teams now.Is that the same team? I thought they had two teams working on this.
I would love to see Odyssey 2 with a different city theme. Loved that game. There's a lot of people who worked on Odyssey who weren't credited on Bananza. Bananza's director is a new hire, former Square Enix guy, so yeah it seems they have two teams now.
Personally I'd be fine with Galaxy 3 if they fundamentally reworked Mario's movement because I really don't like how he controls in the first two games, but I'd rather have something entirely new.
Nintendo: "Sue this thread."
Oh I get Nintendo! I've around since 1981, I kinda know what Nintendo is about, it's just a fun filled thread I tought about and would only make sense to have Mario galaxy 3 in the works , Galaxy Galaxy 2 are easily the best 3d Mario games even if Mario 64 worth more to me then the Galaxy series!I don't think you get Nintendo OP.
The movie represents an opportunity to rake in the licensing money and hawk a ton of old Mario games at full price (including Galaxy 1 and 2) at zero cost to Nintendo.
The next big Mario release, and the cost associated with it, is only necessary to keep the brand going when it is running out of steam.
Considering that, by the moment the Bananza team will be able to ship its next project (next 3D Mario), you will probably have the third film out already for a while (that will surely have another setting), it's pretty unlikely.
Great ideaSuper Mario Universe. Larger, more open worlds and the ability to travel among planets.
It's not quite that clear cut. There's a lot of overlap between the Odyssey and Bananza teams, but also a number of key staff missing, and this is especially true of senior people who you would expect to be actively directing the project.
Nintendo Forecast did a really thorough deep dive into the credits here:
The tl;dr is that the Bananza team appears to mostly be composed of junior staff, which is what you'd expect if there were two teams, with one starting Bananza right after Odyssey wrapped and another working on Bowser's Fury and then transitioning to the next 3D Mario around 2021. It's not quite that simple, because some staff probably moved between projects as they changed in scope, but that's the jist of it.
EAD Tokyo and EPD Tokyo are the same development unit (unique for its location as the rest of internal development at NCL is located in Kyoto). The merger you're talking about is between Nintendo SPD and Nintendo EAD to form Nintendo EPD.Isn't the Bananza team a sub-team of the main Mario studio at Nintendo?
Just looked it up: EAD Tokyo made the Galaxy games, EPD Tokyo made Odyssey and DK Bananza. Looks like they merged in 2015, but they also have multiple dev teams each working on various games.
So a Galaxy 3 next year is very possible IMO. I'd be down for it; Galaxy's one of my favorite games of all time.
How about SUPER LUIGI GALAXY FUCK OFF MARIO YOU CUCK instead?
The "Mario team" as it's often called is larger than the rest of Nintendo's internal teams combined. They more than likely have another game ready for next Winter (3D Mario) and another game in early production for late '29.Considering that, by the moment the Bananza team will be able to ship its next project (next 3D Mario), you will probably have the third film out already for a while (that will surely have another setting), it's pretty unlikely.
I agree and I think it could be awesome to get a full Galaxy 3 with more open-ended levels. Odyssey was great of course, but it's been a very long time since a new 3D Mario and I'm excited for the next one, whatever it ends up being.I was thinking, with the release of Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 plus the movie based on Galaxy , it would only be smart for the next 3d Mario to be Galaxy 3, what do you think!?
Unless they have been making a new Galaxy and that is part of the reason why we're seeing a Galaxy film? They also hinted to Yoshi at the end of the first film. Who knows.I think if the next 3D Mario was Galaxy 3, we probably would have gotten a teaser trailer for it at the end of last week's Direct. It would have driven hype for the movie and gotten people excited about revisiting the first two games.
Also, it has probably been in development since 2021-ish, when development finished on Bowser's Fury, while the Galaxy film started development in 2023 after the release of the first Mario Bros movie, so the game may have been too far along at that point to be retooled for the sake of brand synergy.

Yes! Combine the Galaxy & 64 Odyssey 3D Worlds/BF into a cohesive whole. Wish they would do the same for Zelda and combine Wind Waker(sea) & Skyward Sword(sky) OOT/MM into a cohesive world with BotW/TotK.It'll be called Mario Universe.
