Mario Kart Arcade GP & Cobra delayed

plus those screens are deinterlaced wrong...even the hud is fucked up. the actual game probably looks no worse than time crisis 3.

I must be a masochist because before entering this thread I knew what I would find: people asking for a Revolution release of MK: Arcade...And that's what I found.
If I had enough money I would start a company and then I would pop up on the release of Revolution releasing Atari2600 games at 120€ each for the system. I would spend all my other money making sure no other game was available.
Probably most of you would be happy since the games would be on revolution no matter how they looked or played.

I really hope Nintendo releases MK:Arcade for the GC: that's where it needs to be. And any other release would made absolutelly no logic.

I don't see what's so exciting about this new Mariokart... I don't see it being better than DD in any way except for those that didn't like the 2 character aspect of DD. It looks like a downgrade in gameplay in my view. If nintendo had released a similar product as the Mariokart for Gamecube people would have bitched it was more of the same. But now people are asking for it to be ported to the Cube?

Nintendo can create world peace and people would still be bitching about it.

I doubt it's more of the same. Mainly because the level design of Double Dash is one of the stupiddiest I have ever seen in a racing game.
Not that I care about the 2P factor...which was dumb in my opinion and added nothing but confusion. All I want is a CLASSIC mario kart.

I'm a huge Cobra fan! If you look back a couple days ago I recommended the Sega CD game in the Sega CD thread, I got the PC-Engine titles, a bootleg of Typing the Psychogun (which is fairly amusing, title screen music cracks me up) and I got the DVD Box set for the TV series! :) So I concur with Drohne, I am definitely more interested in the Cobra game! Shame I'll never get to play the damn thing.

Oh yeah, check out the digital comics that came out for PSX, really nicely done.

I believe what made this one different was the inclusion of Namco characters and maps, the whole 'face' thing for players and, my favorite, dozens more items to be used. The number of items in this game is astounding, from what I've seen.

That and it's arcade. That's the upgrade it has from DD.

why do people keep sayin' this

what indication do you have that this is even being considered for GC release? Why not Revolution?

I'm just wonderin' because I've seen nothing like that.
Being on Triforce hardware, a GameCube port should be super easy. Sure, they could put it on Revolution, but they'd have to go through and improve everything graphically and aurally many times over. And considering the game should be coming out less than a year from the Revolution launch, if they were going to go to that trouble they might as well use it as a "launch title" for a Revolution-based arcade hardware rather than using it as a late Triforce title which would soon look outdated compared to its home counterpart.

I don't know. My girlfriend loved the co-op mode in Double Dash. She wouldn't have ever touched regular Mario Kart. So I'm glad Nintendo made the game diverse enough to attract all gamers.

you must be confused as to what an indication means. If we went by "how easy it would be to port something", then we should probably add another 80 games that should go to different systems that never come out. If we went by "how successful a game was", we should probably add another 80 sequels or franchise extensions that haven't released yet.

These are not indications.

My point was more why, given it comes home, it doesn't make sense that it'd be an early Revolution title. Of course, things that don't make sense happen all the time. Still, as far as indication...

Thus far being a Nintendo-released arcade game not released before Donkey Kong has been a sign of a home release. The fact that Nintendo likes to make money suggests it is advisable.

It makes sense the same as expecting it to come to Gamecube makes sense. In that it might happen, it may be likely, but none of what has been described in this thread is an indication it's actually going to happen. What you're indicating is that it's advisable, and that they'd be smart, and it'd be pretty silly for them to miss this opportunity. Point is, none of that is indicative of them actually doing it. An indication is if Reggie actually said another Mario Kart is coming to Gamecube. An indication is if Nintendo listed "Mystery Kart Racer (Untitled) 2006."

Am I saying it won't happen? No. But pre-emptively putting it on lists, and starting to anticipate it for the system is just silly. It's not announced, we have no indication that it will be, and all this pointless speculation just seems a bit desperate on the part of certain people neck-high in the Gamecube drought.

Can you tell me where you got the DVD boxset for the TV Series?

I literally had to get it from A-girl (Teresawa's distributor) but you might check CD-Japan - another thing to keep in mind is there are two sets - the first release was like 400usd. I got the second one, which was more pallatable at 150. I think the more expensive set came with a book and some other extras, but at that price, to hell with it. The set I got is still decent packaging, a nice box with cd binder like slips in it. The DVD's kept slipping out though so I removed them and put them all in individual jewel cases :P It's only got Japanese audio and no subtitles if I recall correctly, definitely no english. I doubt the series will ever see the light of day over here, but you never know - They been airing Lupin, which was done by the same amazing animation studio (TMS) and I think Cobra has a very similar feel actually, so I guess anything is possible. :)
