Mario Kart DS delayed to May.

I think Online will be implemented first in the U.S..... Only game we can probably hope for will be the new Metroid Hunters being online.

So where did this online chatter come from? From the vague Reggie-talk and the notion about "theoretic" possibilities on the DS official site?

Last time I read, Nintendo was going online by 2009 (an interview of Iwata in November, I'll see if I can find it).

To me, the wireless capabilities of DS are similar to GC broadband adaptor - it's there if somebody wants to use it. Except, that from what I hear, Nintendo didn't have the time / opted not to write a proper IP stack for DS. I could be wrong, though.

I don't want to be overly pessimistic, but I think the chances of seeing Animal Crossing or Mario Kart online on DS in a proper way is like the "Smash World" dreaming a few years ago - inspiring thought that never becomes reality.

When the hell is the next batch of DS games? Seriously, look at this list:

Dates shown are ship dates
Zoo Keeper 1/17
WarioWare Touched 2/14
Rayman DS 3/1
Pac 'n Roll DS 3/1
Pac-Pix DS 3/1
Egg Monster Hero D 3/1
Sonic DS 3/1
Bomberman DS 3/1

This can't be right. What the hell am I supposed to play?

Sonic DS?! WTF? Has *anything* been shown of this yet? I assume the demo at E3 was just that, so this seems unusually early. I'm very curious as to what this will end up as, hopefully it won't be shitty like Heroes or Advance 1+2+3.

Damn, they delayed Zoo Keeper!

Nintendo are really dropping the ball with the release schedule for this console. It sucks. :(

I'm curious about which game it will be that makes me decide to buy a DS: Will Mario Kart DS be on par with the series? Perhaps Sonic DS will be worth giving a damn about? Or maybe the so-called 'New Super Mario Bros.' will be released in the first half of next year. We shall see.

Actually... despite what I said, I do agree with this statement. As a developer, I'm privvy to the pressures of getting a game out for release, and generally the game would have been better with a few more months. Of course gamers are disappointed with delays, but its better if they don't suffer Mr Driller-esque castrated products.

So... let's have Mario Kart DS fully featured, so we can still enjoy it in 3-4 years time.

when does that Yoshi game come out? Im intrested in other games, but that is the one I really really really want to play. Using the touch screen to alter the actual level as your charachter goes through it is HOT.

You mean Yoshi's Touch & Go? March 2005 in the US.

Nice.. thats not too far off. I think Mario 64 and GBA games can hold me off until then... plus, does Wario Ware come out in Feb.? This 'drought' doesnt look too bad anymore.

Bomberman DS? Sweet. That should be fun multiplayer. I hope it's a more traditional bomberman and not this "Jetters" crap or whatever.

Idono what I'm more baffled about, the fact you guys are wondering what the heck to play on your DS allready or the fact that most of you have actually finished mario 64 DS allready. I've managed to get only 42 stars so far, it'll be 6 months before I have all 150 I bet. I'm sure you guys have other handhelds and consoles to play until march. Hopefully by then someone else I know has a DS....

It looks traditional... both screens are 2D for a huge battle field. Much better than the "3D camera" junk Hudson was pushing at E3. :)

I just got star 150 last night - used the Dpad the whole time, never using the thumb nub or stylus for touch screen control. Never had a problem with it.

I only ever got about 80 stars in the original Mario 64, so it was pretty nice to finally get the game completed.

9/10 Launch Titles are always rushed. I can't wait to see what DS has down the line. And the first Nintendo games that weren't hindered by the launch deadlines! Oh God, wait to we see what incredible things Miyamoto will think up for Zelda DS!

Has anyone here played pac and roll? I was just looking up some vids for that game, and it looks like a ton of fun.

Me either, four swords has been one of the biggest surprises for me this gen. Actually getting 4 people with the hardware and such is a bit tricky, but when we did it was phenominal. By far the most fun I've had with a multiplayer title in years, tears were literally streaming down my face playing it for the first time. There's something really satisfying about ganging up on one idiot who's trying to hog all the rupees. Can't wait to see what they come up with this time.

The Zelda seiers doesn't have to be limited to a 4 swords type game either, I'm sure they can come up with some great ideas for a 3d one. Fantastic possibilites with the touch screen.

Are there official exact dates for ANY DS releases in the US? The only one I know of is for Wario Ware Touched on Valentines Day. I don't buy much of EB's coming soon list... especially with Zoo Keeper being delayed lately.

I am the only one who is tired of the Zelda 4 swords idea?

I have enjoyed it, but now it is the time to stop creating more 4 swords games and focus on new content.

I'm pretty certain that all of those dates (except for the first 3) are placeholders.

This is delayed? Did we ever get an official word on that December date? It seemed more like a rumor than anything else.

I haven't seen a link or a source-mentioning here either :-/

Not sure about Zoo Keeper's fate, but here's the ACTUAL current DS lineup.

Nintendo DS

Feb. 14: WarioWare™ Touched! from Nintendo
March 14: Pokémon Dash from Nintendo
March: Yoshi's Touch & Go from Nintendo
March: Atari Classics from Atari
March: Pac Pix from Namco
Q1: Need for Speed Underground™ 2 from Electronic Arts
Q2: Metroid Prime® Hunters from Nintendo
May: Ultimate Card Games™ from Telegames
June: Ultimate Brain Games™ from Telegames
New titles for Nintendo franchises like Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Advance Wars remain in development

Note that this is not final nor inclusive of all DS games that will be shipped in the first half of this year. Plenty of time for additions, new title announcements, etc. Remember, lots of new games are announced after Christmas.

Yes, I know. Right now, all of us DS owners are in the middle of a drought. Feel the Magic was awesome for a week. I still play Mario 64 on and off, but I never liked the game originally, so I don't expect the enthusiasm to last much longer. And I loathe EA Sports. Doesn't leave much for me. I'm buffering the lack of DS content with plenty of fun GBA content, and am honestly content, but I'm sure I'm in the minority in that.

That said, I'd still rather have the next batch of software be delayed for quality reasons than be rushed out the door. We'll have 2 Wario Wares to enjoy in 2 or so months. Can't wait!

I thought the DS offered "New and exciting ways to play games, and challenged developers."?

As I said, this is only including games that have been officially tagged with a release date in the first half of the year. Plenty of time for more to be added.

Why do I get the impression that some people are in the middle of their PSP honeymoons and are being obnoxious just for the fun of it? ;p

I can't wait until I'm on my PSP honeymoon. In the meantime, there's always Super M.. uh, War... uh, Feel The M... ....Kingdom Hearts. But it's backlit! *sob*

Zoo keeper has a release date at gamestop for jan feb (it was an actual date, I just forgot it)

I have heard (not on the internet) rumors that Mario Kart will indead be online enabled. I wouldn't vouch for it at this point but the source is enough for me to keep cautiously speculative. I think when we hear about DS online it will be in January, though I doubt we see aps in Japan untill Feb at the earliest (/absolute speculation).

if somehow Mario Kart DS is online, then Nintendo's saved :lol

maybe they'll have time to fix the graphics. as is it's the single most HIDEOS game i've seen in years. it makes ridge racer ds look like ridge racers psp. and it makes ridge racers psp look like a brain-melting theophany. and it makes a brain-melting theophany look...oh you get the idea.

I believe they are in development.

I just realized that Advance Wars DS doesn't come out for another ~9 months. Hopefully the lineup picks up by then.
