I have only played part one and four and they had done nothing to fix the horrible controls between those games. I have little hope for part seven. Will most likely never play it.

This screenm, though quite mediocre, makes me want a mario sidescroller bad. :(

I hate this game so much. When my brother was a little younger he used to spend hours on the N64 with his friends just playing this for endless hours. He still buys and plays them on GC. Its not just because of that I hate the game though, it just plain sucks

And the annual hate begins. I just hope most of the usual suspects are too lost in the "boundry-breaking storytelling" of their beloved SOTC to notice this is coming out.

I hope we are too busy playing SOCT because Mario Party isnt even worth anyones time. It deserves to be hated because there have been so many mario party games and each of them is the same crap over and over again. Atleast SOCT is original, unlike Mario Party which is on its 7th crap installment and will just be as bad as the other six.

Mario Party being an annual event is like Madden being an annual event. Who cares if one is released every year very similar to the one before.

It's not like playing Mario Party and Mario Party 7 is exactly the same experience. The Mario Parties go through theme changes, mini-game changes (for each new version), characters, and "gimmicky" hooker (Microphone-compatible, 8 players, etc...)...

I really hate the hate this franchise gets because it's not like anybody is directly affected by it. Nintendo doesn't make the games anyway, so it's just smart to release a different one every year. I can understand people getting upset if Nintendo was releasing Mario Kart or Smash Brothers rehashes every year because internal development teams would be bogged down on the same project indefinitely, but since Hudson has done this, what is the harm in releasing them if they continue to be extremely popular.

Like Madden, Fifa, NBA Live, NFL, Pro Evo, Tiger Woods, Ratchet, Jak, Prince of Persia, James Bond, Tony Hawk, Splinter Cell and others, right?

Comparing Mario Party to madden is a bit stupid. Madden is one of the most popular games ever made, it sells millions every year and it appeals to so many people. Mario Party is a stupid Mario spin-off that only appeals to a small fanbase and doesnt sell very much.

Nobody is directly affected by any game anyway, unless its a game thats part of a franchise that the have enjoyed. The reason that its hated, or a better word to use would be dislike, is because its not a good game in so many people's opinions.

1) Mario Party games sell.

2) I know a lot of people who like them. Granted, most of them are not hardcore gamers. But you know what? These games are actually fun AT PARTIES! What a thought!

People who hate on mario party just plain haven't played it with four people recently.

There is no way four gamers can't have fun playing this game if they already own a Gamecube. Seriously, unless they are jaded gamers who think MGS2 is crap because Raiden is 'gay', you just can't hate fun like this.

Most of those sport games sell millions, which shows that they are liked by so many people. Sports games are different anyway. Teams change yearly, wether its the players, the kit, the stadium and thats a reason why each year they sell so well. Small changes like that make a difference to most people. There is no point comparing Madden, Pro Evo or any of those games to Mario Party.

I guess you could say that some of those games like Tony Hawks and James Bond are like Mario Party, throughout this gen and last there have been so many different games of each, with each game being nearly the same as the last and I dont like either of them.

The rest of the games however, have only been made in one generation. R&C, jak and Splinter cell are all games that were made this gen. PoP was not made this gen, but it was a very long time since they made one before Sands of Time. If the developers continue with the franchises and dont make any big improvements, you will se that they will be disliked just as much as mario Party

Rather than drawing out your argument like that for others to poke holes in, you're better off just saying that you don't like Mario Party and stop speaking for other people. Because that would be the truth, and not your notion that "everybody hates Mario Party." They sell, so obviously people like them.

lol, that's true...

yeah I was about to disagree about the "small fanbase" comment. I'm sure the combined 4, 5, & 6 sales world-wide total must be at least 3 million, probably a lot more

this is a game MADE for multiplayer and while I'm sure many people don't think it's good, I say those people should ignore the game instead posting negative comments about it. The same could be said for Madden, as I'm sure "so many people" think it's a bad game, but in all likelihood they aren't sports gamers. You'll always find tons of people that don't think a game is good. But at some point it becomes ridiculous to blur gender lines and just start attacking things even though they aren't likely to appeal to you anyway.

Mario Party games are "dumb" on purpose, just like tons of real board games with ridiculous concepts. How someone who goes into the game expecting some dumb fun for the sake of hilarity and passing the time with friends or family should not like the game is beyond me.

Im the biggest MGS fan there is. The MGS games are some of my favourite games ever. I didnt particulalrly like raiden, but at the same time I didn't think he was as bad as people make him sound. Even though I love MGS2 to bits, I really dont like Mario party, I cant actually understand how related the two together...Mario party just isnt fun for me, even if I play it at a party with four people. There are plenty of other Nintendo games that I can think of that are far more fun to play with four people such as SSB: M or Mario Kart.

I think you're in the minority of dectractors that don't like this game because they don't find it fun... most detracters lament the similarity between them but agree that there isn't anything wrong with the games and are still a lot of fun.

If you don't find sports games fun you'd best just say so, and if you don't find Mario Party fun that is what should be said, not that "so many people don't think it's good".

You're the biggest MGS fan because the games are ''some'' of your favourite games ever?

And my name is Raiden and i am the biggest Raiden fan there is!!!

As am I. MGS is hands down my favourite game series ever.

I didnt particulalrly like raiden, but at the same time I didn't think he was as bad as people make him sound.

Well my point was immature gamers didn't like Raiden because of his femininity, why didn't you like him? I admit I didn't warm to him as first but as I played the game more and more I have come to understand that he's a fantastic character and in the grand scheme of things someone that the series needed for sure.

Even though I love MGS2 to bits, I really dont like Mario party, I cant actually understand how related the two together...

They aren't, I'm not sure if you followed my example but I was using the type of person who hated Raiden as the type of person who is too 'macho' to enjoy Mario Party. You know, the guy that only plays Halo and Madden and doesn't give something a chance because it's not guns, blood or sport.

Mario party just isnt fun for me, even if I play it at a party with four people.

Fair enough. I gotta say though give it another shot man- i've laughed until I've cried, literally, playing this game.

There are plenty of other Nintendo games that I can think of that are far more fun to play with four people such as SSB: M or Mario Kart.

Now not to diss Nintendo (I'm fairly even against the N I think- I own a Gamecube/DS/PS2/Xbox/PC from this gen (dreamcast if you want to count that) and getting a PSP soon so I'm not too fanboyish ;)) but what plenty of other Nintendo games that you mention are there... because after SSB: Melee (fantastic) and mario kart (you're talking about the N64 version right, because Double Dash was balls) you've got Mario Party and... what other good multiplayer games?

I actually mentioned earlier that its disliked by myself and others because its the same thing over and over again. Im saying its not fun anymore because I think its jus the same as the rest. I really used to like Mario Party. When the first one came out I always used to play it because it was original and it was great fun. I also bought the second Mario Party game too and either rented or borrowed one or two of the others, but everytime you play a new mario party its not as fun anymore because it just feels like the rest. I dont really find it fun playing a game that I think is too similar to ones that Ive played with a lot in the past.

I actually do like sport games, well, just basketball and football/soccer ones because they are my two favourite sports. I didnt try to say that sport games fans dont like mario party, I was comparing the sales of most sport games with the sales of mario party.

Good, it should be everybodies favourite game series ever :D

I thought that his conversations with Rose got really annoying and he didnt seem to have that aggression and strength that I admired in Snake, anyway, we're going a bit too OT talking about MGS[/quote]

Fair enough. I gotta say though give it another shot man- i've laughed until I've

I actually own a copy of Mario Party 5, can youy believe it!? It was actually my brother who decided to buy it though:P. Ive played it a couple of times, I just cant get into it.

I was actually talking about both Mario kart 64 and Mario Kart: Double dash. I really liked both. There are quite a few other games. F-zero, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario baseball was really good and super mario strikers looks amazing. There are other games on other consoles which I think are more fun than mario party too.

This is interesting, how can you play 8 player? Does it come with an adapter or something? Not that i will ever have 8 friends at the house :lol i can barely get 4 to play a game with.

2 players use one controller. x4 controllers = 8 players.

? I see how sharing " The Duke" might work, but sharing a tiny ass Gamecube controller...meh. What's the best mario Party for Gamecube? Is it 5 or 6?

DCX

Mario Party with 4 players is great even 3 and the CPU player set on Hard or Brutal , can't wait to get Mario Party 7 , I own the 6 of them been playing them since the first came out good party game specially for parties or to relax with some pals around playing it.

have they done away with the microphone from 6? I hate microphone input. 5 was a lot of fun. we had some good battles till my flatmates stopped playing me cause I always won :(

There's only 4 or 5 minigames in MP6 that require the microphone input and they're appart from the main story and game, it doesn't screw up the experience if you don't use the microphone, all the other minigames you play them with just the regular controller.

Dude just shut the fuck up since you have no clue what your talking about.

Mario Party 4 has sold over 2.3 million worldwide.
Mario Party 5 has sold over 1.8 million worldwide.
Mario Party 6 has sold over 1.5 million worldwide.
And the Mario Party games on the N64 all sold between 2 and 3 million worldwide.

That's only a small fanbase? :lol

Mario Party 4 has the best games, then 6. It looks like 7 will be at least as good as 6.

The main problem I have with the Mario Parties is that they use the same damn graphic style, animations, and sounds in every single installment. Because of this, my friends are uninterested in the series now. I/We actually liked Mario Party 4 because the graphics and everything was much different than the N64 games. But when I played 5 and 6 it, I dunno, felt like an expansion pack or something. IMO, the boards and mini-games got progressively worse every year as well.

Maybe 7 could be different, but it just feels so bland and boring with the repetitive graphics.

Mario Party games are damn fun. I've had a bunch of othre hardcore gamers play them with me and we always have a good time. I still think MP4 had the best strategy of the Gamecube versions. MP 6 was pretty good though.

Mario Party 6 didn't have the best games, but the way the board worked was better than in 4 and 5. There was actually a little strategy in using the orbs, fewer unfair luck spaces, and everything was more polished overall.

Mario Party 2 was the best in the series. Fewer luck based games, more games based on skill, and more games where you can earn a large number of coins in a game, rather than just the 10/20 coin award at the end.

That and the costumes.

I have all the Mario Parties, but 6, and I regret not buying it. I thought the mic was heavily used in the game, so I thought it would be boring until I played it in my friend's house :)

7 will definitely be mine

btw, sports game comment was a hypothetical... like if someone doesn't like sports games then they shouldn't say etc.. etc...

yeah I should have been more clear sorry
