In a recent interview with Hudson Soft, Shuichiro Nishiya he expressed that he would like to develop Mario Party for the Nintendo DS,

With its microphone and its two screens, Nintendo DS would be perfect to accomodate a play like Mario Party. Do you intend to carry out a title of the series on Nintendo DS?

SN : We would like to develop Mario Party for Nintendo DS, at the moment we are looking at some idea to bring to the series.

Hopefully they don't make it suck this time.

If its online or something, sure. If its just another Mario Party, why? I suppose I can see lots of potential with the touch screen and microphone, but I dunno...

Nintendo is beginning to irritate me with how many non-platformer games Mario manages to feature in. Mario Party is cool n' all... but theres been 7 of em. I'd like them to have good cause with this one...

I love the Mario Party games. If they don't make a DS version then they must be crazy. There are sooooo many things they could do with the touch screen and mic Of course it would have to be online.

I've never really been a big Mario Party fan, but isn't the point of Mario Party to be one of those games you play with your family/friends?

It seems more like the "gather around the big TV" type of a franchise. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, seeing as how it'd be an easy big seller.

I don't think it would be so hot online. You wouldn't have 3 people screaming and laughing with you, it'd be like playing by yourself pretty much.

They'd definitely make a Mario Party game before they even think about a SSB for the DS.

So? It'd be just like any other online game.

9 if you count the GBA version.
Er, I was counting the GBA version...

Mario Party (N64) 1998
Mario Party 2 (N64) 1999
Mario Party 3 (N64) 2000
Mario Party 4 (GC) 2002
Mario Party 5 (GC) 2003
Mario Party 6 (GC) 2004
Mario Party Advance (GBA) 2004
Mario Party 7 (GC) 2005

If it's online, I think this would actually be the first time since it's inception that a Mario Party could turn out really great. The novelty of the series has never been very long lasting to me, but I'm sure they could do a shit load of DS-specific mini-games that could actually make for a fun experience.

Well, if it really floats everyones boat it wouldn't hurt to put it in. I just assumed everyone got their kicks from the chaos and tension that builds up in the room.

Why would you want to play a party game online? Seriously, do people even think before deciding that online would be a good feature in every game?

Maybe they could include a DS Camera with Mario Party DS, so you can watch the reactions of your friends that you're playing with online or something on the top screen.

Yeah, I'd be all about a Mario Party game online. It'd be even easier to get 4 people together.

It seems like it would be just as suited for eight player local wireless, too.
