Anyone know what this game is all about? It comes out tomorrow and I like Dr. Mario but don't know what Puzzle League is.

Thanks!

Puzzle League aka Panel de Pon aka Tetris Attack is only the best puzzle game ever made. Fact. :)
I would say so...Puyo Puyon for DC, IQ and Bombastic round out the top 4...Puzzle Fighter for the 5 spot.

The new GBA version? Really? It's worse than GC Puzzle Collection or N64 Pokemon PL? :(

Well the core gameplay is there and intact. But the presentation aspects are minimal. There is no story mode. You manually set the CPU's difficulty/level before you start and only play a single game. There are no characters, no particular art direction.

I wouldn't mind if it had online wifi play... but the GBA doesn't do that. I'm praying for a DS version. And please Nintendo, bring back story mode for crying out loud!

How about multiboot? Can you play the game with one cart and multiple GBAs? Story mode doesn't matter to me and while the art and most of the music is missing that's forgivable as long as it plays as well as the SNES original (I've even put up with the GB/C/A and N64 versions so there is no version I wouldn't play). How's the farkin gameplay?!

Wow, that sounds sucky. I was sort of into the idea of this. Then I saw it wasn't going to sell at a bargain-y price, and now it lacks a story mode. Bleh.

Enjoyed Tetris Attack quite a bit, and I was hoping I could count on a mildly modified portable version, not something stripped down. Oh well. Guess the gameplay's there, but it does sound like it has little to no personality.

The gameplay is perfectly intact.

Man, Nintendo is really whoring out their franchises now. Packaging Puzzle League with Mario Party of all games... man... are they desperate or what?*

*sarcasm... you should edit your title.

Dude read the thread. I explained it in detail.
ah, I was specifically responding to bobby though. Not that I don't acknowledge your review or opinion, I just don't know you, and bobby's opinions have agreed with me in the past. No offense intended. :)

Ahh, well, Shroom described the offenses exactly as I would've. The gameplay is there, and pretty much everything else (including most of the classic music) has been stripped away. I appreciate that you're interested specifically in my opinion, the only reason I didn't reply earlier is because I thought Shroom did a great job of summarizing all of my issues with the game and I didn't want to seem redundant. :)

It wasn't even an opinion or review, but facts. :P

The game truly doesn't feature a story mode. The game truly doesn't have characters. The art truly is minimal compared to the previous versions. No arguing is possible. :P

Whether you find this good or bad is all up to you, though. :)

So, is it worth the money? And what are the differences between this new GBA compilation with Dr. Mario, and the Gamecube Nintendo Puzzle Collection (J) that came with a link cable which allowed you to play Dr. Mario, Yoshi's Cookie and Panel de Pon on your GBA as well?

It would be sweet, but I think the kind of precise timing invovled in the gameplay would prohibit it.
It wouldn't be affected by online lag as much as a good fighter would, but it'd still be significant. Too bad.
