OT Title:
For anyone confused by the meaning behind the OT title - "Nintendo to Hand Out Gaming Gloves"

Really hoping this game is good, I've been hyped since its announcement but have been burned a few too many times to buy it blindly.

I'm with you on that one. Waiting to check out what others think. In theory, it should be a great MP for multiplayer... the "best" mini games, and only needing one cart to play with multiple friends. Let's see what the reviews say.

I like it, it's just that they're too faithful with the minigames, as in...

THE AI IS BRUTAL.

The singleplayer has set AI levels for each minigame, and some will be harder than others, it's all up to RNG during the minigame, just like the originals.

I've had to retry the one where you blow into the mic to blow up a balloon too many times now, because the AI obviously somehow knows when the balloon will pop.

I don't find the AI brutal at all. The only minigames I had any trouble three-starring in the single player mode were the random ones. The "get the highest card" one was godawful and took me 10 tries. The "pick a fishing pole and hope you get a fish" one took me a while too. Those were the only 2 games out of the hundred that I didn't like though; these are really good choices overall. The single player mode took me about 3 hours to finish 100%, and unlocked a hard mode of the single player upon completion. I also dabbled in the star rush-esque mode, which is kinda lame as there is a whopping ONE board to play on. I like the game overall just because the minigames are good, and it's nice to have it on my 3DS to pop on for a few minutes.

The best part of Mario Party games is the board games. Stealing stars, switching places, blocking paths, and generally screwing each other other.

I have absolutely zero interest in a Mario Party game without them. I wouldn't even call that a Mario Party game. It's just a minigame compilation.

Great OT. For once a post-2DS XL first party game supports the 3D effect as well. I wonder how faithful the programming is to the older games that features these minigames. Particularly the ones developed by Hudson Soft.

For once I'm disappointed this wasn't greenlit for Switch instead, only because I'd be hard-pressed to find others willing to bring along their 3DSes to play this in multiplayer. Though its core premise does feel like release schedule filler and I'm sure Switch's first party game will be somewhat more ambitious.

Sounds like a nice game to bring when you know people are going to have 3DSes.

Though whipping out an amiibo in the minigame island mode for a boost in multiplayer might get some complaints from the other players, lol
