According to the Big N, players will be able to use the Broadband Adapter with Mario Tennis for GameCube. While at this time there are not many details, we know that Nintendo has updated its press site and that the Broadband Adapter is now listed as an accessory for Mario Tennis.

Most likely, this means that the title will feature LAN game play which allows a certain number of players, usually eight, to link up and play together using separate televisions and GameCube systems.
