So is marvel planning to continue Daredevil as an ongoing series like House of Cards annor Orange, or are they planning to do two season, then the other street level heroes then the defenders mini series?
I merged you into the existing thread for Marvel/Netflix discussion. Figured it was better to loop you into the larger discussion of everything that's going on. There should be plenty of people here to answer your questions.
So i just finished episode 7 of Daredevil, and just to put it out there. These series has been nothing but quality. From cast, to acting, story and writing plus action scenes to fawn over, i have not been enamored with a TV series like this for years.
So i see the end of episode 7,
stick speaking with the long haired man with the scarred back, and their conversation
and i get excited. It seems like a set-up for season 2. Then i get to finding online that Marvel is planning a Defender's mini-series for Netflix, which will act as a conclusion to the Daredevil, Luke Cake and J.Jones & Iron Fist (i might be mistaken about the Iron fist series, im just guessing).

Because i honestly want Daredevil to stay, like i said, i have not been blown away by a TV series for years, and it'd be a shame if Daredevil only got 2 or three seasons, since there is soooo much to work with.
I'm with you. With this plan, it means that if there's going to be a second season of DD it probably won't be for like two to three years. Plus, The Defenders isn't even a thing in the same way that The Avengers is. There's a team called The Defenders in the comics, but it's not a street level team with these characters in it.
I don't think this will be the case. The Daredevil cast, crew and sets are not going to wait multiple years between seasons. Same goes for if the other shows are successful. Strike while the iron is hot.

I agree that they probably don't want to sit on their asses for that long, but I really don't see it at the moment. I hope I'm wrong though! Maybe they could squeeze in a DD S2 before Defenders.
They are going to make a show called Gent Car. It will star Sean Connery as an aging hero whose spirit gets transferred into the body of an old Cadillac. The whole thing will be literally street level crime.
If Infinity War is anything like Infinity Gauntlet then their cameo will be them disappearing when Thanos kills half the universe. You've got to raise the stakes somehow and they're sure as shit not going to kill any of The Avengers.

Yeah this sucks, im going to have to get my share of Daredevil from the comics, since i figured id probly be waiting to or three hears for season 2. What a shame man. Marvel's plans are awesome, they are, but wow if they take a long time to play out.
They're not real, so there's no reason to worry about hurting their feelings. Some superheroes are objectively more powerful than others. Daredevil probably won't be taking on alien armies any time soon, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just because some heroes are more powerful than others doesn't mean they're more interesting or have better stories to tell.
Absolutely but Silver Surfer cares little for a crime lord. His negative effect on a planet is infinitesimally small.
It's people like Iron Man level who are the BIG threat for Fisk level dudes. He can drop in in a second remove Fisk from his comfort zones and just drop him on an island off the coast of china called Lian Yu and he won't be heard from again.
The issue there is Iron Man level threats are world level not one city level. How much of the world does he have to save. Crime will always happen. In the grand scheme Fisk isn't all that evil TBH. He isn't even terrorist level.
I checked out the first volume of Waid's Daredevil run after reading Man Without Fear and some of Bendis's, and the tonal shift from those and the Netflix show to Waid is so jarring. What's the general consensus? The gritty style of those other stories and the show are great. Waid's all supervillians and the usual comic shenanigans
I'll take vigilante crime drama with some supernatural elements over that

I posted that page more to illustrate how they operate on different levels, and how regardless of power levels certain heroes don't get involved in the other "tiers" because they're usually busy with their own shit.
Imo it's one of the reasons Spider-Man is so successful. The character works on different tiers without it feeling forced more than any other. It's just as natural for him to get a cat down from a tree as it is for him to get involved in alien business.

A lot of people new to these characters are still erroneously thinking about terms like 'street level' and 'cosmic' like weight classes. Luke Cage and Daredevil are both street level heroes but Luke could throw cars at people. You got Peter Quill and Drax the Desrtoyer fighting the same bad guys. You might notice how a lot of people comment that Spidey doesn't really fit in with the Avengers because they deal with world level threats. Those terms are more about the kinds of stories they're a part of and not about power levels.
Reading up a bit on those Sony wikileaks emails. Looks like Drew Goddard's split from the show was less than amicable. Apparently he flat out stopped showing up to work, and left it up to his lawyer to handle things. Marvel was considering legal action, and at one point Ike Perlmutter himself contacted Sony to ask for their help resolving things. Also Goddard's deal for the Sinister Six movie (lawl) would have given him a bonus from Sony for every season Daredevil is on the air to offset the loss of the wages he would have made.
Also; Marvel gave Sony a heads up in advance that they were planning on using Kingpin in Daredevil. Sony then wanted to make sure that if they were to use the characters themselves in the future (confirming that they do share the right) they would do so in a way that wouldn't step on Marvel's toes. Obviously they don't have to worry about that anymore though since it's all the same Kingpin now.

That sounds weird considering that we know 3 scripts were already completed by the time he departed (2 of them were his), and he and Jeph Loeb already put together an entire framework for the season. DeKnight talked about it with IGN recently, and he said a lot of the ideas throughout the series were already in place by the time he joined, and he mentioned having conversations with Goddard about the direction of the series as well. I mean, it's not surprising that Sony was prepared to compensate him for doing the Sinister Six film instead, but there doesn't seem to be much bad blood. In fact, isn't he still the frontrunner to write and direct the upcoming Spider-man movie?
