I also got to play with the three new characters in a stage that no one had seen before, The Avengers' Mansion. Enclosed and less open than the older Daily Bugle stage, and packed with a ton of furniture and other things to be thrown around, this level definitely makes for confrontations reminiscent of old-school Power Stone 2 battles -- and it's good to see that a simple stage change can alter the gameplay experience so dramatically.

Of course, I took the Avengers Mansion opportunity to geek out and ask a couple of continuity questions like whether or not this was the "Pre-Disassembled" mansion or the current Young Avenger's wasteland, but the producer guys took it all in stride and confirmed that the storyline takes place before Wanda Maximoff went all House of M.

This storyline ties into the game's single-player feature too. To be shown in video form as part of a trailer loop at Comic-Con, "Story Mode" will be present a somewhat different experience than what most were probably expecting. You see, rather than just follow the Street Fighter model of tacking on an endgame movie after winning a couple of rounds with random characters, Marvel Nemesis tells its story via a full-fledged action game that comes complete with its own characters, stages, and settings that you won't be able to access otherwise.

This looks pretty good to me. I like the 'Def Jam' graphics engine look that they seem to be using. I'm hoping that they include some of the more essential characters such as Hulk, more xmen... etc...

I don't know.. I'm a huge Marvel mark and for some reason this just looks like shit.

I wasn't impressed at all by the videos. I got a vibe of the old Mutant Academy games.... and thats not a good thing.

It just looks off.

I don't think that Hulk's in the game; EA couldn't get the rights to use the character (or the Punisher, for that matter), probably due to other companies' licenses for those characters. At least, that's what I remember reading about a year and a half back...

Also, Captain America will be in the game, but only in the PSP version. Stupid, in my book.

Just watched the Spidey Vs Wolverine video...Looks pretty good. I'm glad they're taking the "epic" music approach. The comments before and after the fights are pretty cheesy but the rest looks pretty good.

Holy shit the lighting is amazing in this pic but Spidey is not THAT muscular. Maybe it's the angle?

Depends on the artist actually. Lately they have been making Parker far too lanky than he was in the comics years ago.

And it appears just to be the angle anyway.

Peter has always been lanky, nerdy guy who can bench press a school bus.

No Cap or Hulk? FUCK THAT!

NO SALE!

I've been watching videos and really this is the first fighting game that I've been looking forward to in quite some time. I just watched the new trailer and the following Marvel characters are confirmed...

Spider-Man
The Thing
Venom
Daredevil
Wolverine
Storm
Magneto
Human Torch
Elektra
Iron Man

I really wish they would assemble a Super Smash Bros like cast. I mean how many people are actually going to get into "The Imperfects"?

He wasn't very lanky after getting bitten. Some artists just make him real lanky. McFarlane's rendition and others weren't very lanky.

You're just thinking along the lines of Ultimate Spider-Man

Haha. If it's really that terrible I'd like to play it for myself so I don't waste the money when the game actually comes out.

Shit. You'll be pissed you wasted the TIME playing it.

But if you do play, don't think to yourself "Is this it? There must be more to it. I'll keep playing. There's got to be something I'm missing." DON'T THINK IT.

Yay! Another game I don't have to buy. :D

I can't say I was ever terribly interested in this, but I need more "Low Level" games for my friends to play. I'd hope it was more along the lines of War of the Monsters, and less shitty Crapcom Powerstone. :X

What I don't get is why Marvel joins up with EA for their games and they decide to make one that wants to like Powerstone, although they were at one point with Capcom who created the concept, and have already executed it, twice.
