Man after reading the Shoyruken guide on C.Viper, she is a huge meter hog with all her EX moves taking meter, so weird. I'll probably need a good meter building character to sustain that crap, maybe Wesker/Ammy/C.Viper.

Get some Morrigan in there for the assist charges ;)

it's missing the part where she dies

Ice cold.

You know, I wonder what GAF was like when MvC2 was about to be released:

GAFFER A: "Strider, that awesome looking motherfucker, jumping around and don't afraid of nothin."

GAFFER B: "You forget the part where he gets KO'd by a strong breeze."

Who's gonna be the first to win a match using Deadpool's taunt? After Marn's antics with the rose I'd hope it would be him, despite him not using Deadpool.

The first team I play with when I get the game tomorrow is either gonna be Dante/Amaterasu/Morrigan or Doom/Dormammu/MODOK (or Wesker).

I wish I could afford to go to a midnight release without screwing myself over both in terms of classes tomorrow and the special edition. :(

Viper's hypers look like they kinda suck. Perhaps she was built to put meter into EX moves and whatnot instead?

Hm maybe, Ammy could also run the meter assist too. But I'm picking Ammy because I want to abuse her projectile assist, that thing is gooooodly.

Viper's hyper combos are around average damage. What C.Viper has going for her is great mobility (has an awesome all directional air dash I think) and lots of canceling with her normals, specials and ex moves. She is very combo heavy and they string well into her hyper combos. The only problem is feinting an EX move still takes meter. :( I'm actually more curious about the use of a focus attack in MvC3, it prevents her from suffering hit stun at the cost of taking damage, so it's an odd thought.

The thing about it is, everyone "knows" what a Phoenix player at this point is going to do, farm meter until the moment of truth. How people don't use this as a mind game in and of itself is beyond me. Just now in the Khaos stream, I saw the Phoenix player come in at max and the other guy just backed the fuck up expecting DF as the next move. The Phoenix just said fuck that, went rush for a bit then Lvl. 1 KO'd the other guy at like 40% or something.

People in the stream were even wondering why the hell the guy playing Phoenix would use meter. Me, I'm just thinking "you all would get caught badly if people weren't always going for the DF". :lol

You can't turn into DF unless you get killed AFAIK. So I don't know how they can expect her to turn unless they're attacking her.

And yeah, I think he was using meter because he was trying to learn the character. No doubt DF is a big part of her game, but there's obviously more to her than that. The gameplan I've seen most people run with her so far--just building meter and doing fuck all with her until the other 2 characters on the team are dead--seems like a relatively boring way to play the game.

I seriously seriously seriously want to do this. I wanna have an epic match, Lvl. 3 Hype Factor and slap around the other person, bait them then have them run into "THIS IS MY TAUNT!"

Nothing I could ever accomplish in a game would ever top that, and I loved fucking around with Luigi's Dirt Kick Taunt in Smash. :lol

Oh I know, but it's just interesting to see that initial readjustment the guy facing the Phoenix went through. At first it looked like he was going to get started with the stomping, but then he just backed away slowly. Little things like that could lead to some really fun moments in this game.

And completely agreed with the latter. I wanna see someone take some risks. Who cares if they lose if they show off something more than "wait for Final Smash DP mode then beast."

What's the general consensus on what platform to get it for? Currently have X360 reserved 'cause PSN is generally crappy, but I could go either way. I suppose PS3 controller would be better. Not sure if the reviews are identical or not yet.

Sentinel with X-factor level 3 would like a word with you.

Phoenix will probably die from Cap's donkey punch effect with his shield. Sounds about right...Phoenix dies pretty easily in the comics too so I could see getting Donkey Punched by Captain America as something fatal to her.

Well, I finished modding my stick but I killed the select button. :lol

Here's hoping I can map Taunt to something else....Not bad for my first attempt though!

Feinting takes away your EX too? DAMN. I think when it comes to inputting commands, this won't be a huge issue, since you'll just switch to special when you want to stop feinting and hit the move, but still, if you fuck up, you lost 1 meter on a special move. Tricky.

Charging Star is definitely going to be cause for concern. Real talk, as much as I loved that video with DP blowing up on that Wesker/Deadpool/Captain A team, if the guy had X-Factored into his first Charging Star or followed up with a second one, he'd have won that.

Edit: This Tron play on the Khaos stream is just so wacky looking, I love it. :lol

What i am learning the most by looking at the mvc3 guide is the great amount of work they put into making each character true to form. It is pretty amazing how diverse the movesets are.

Seriously, I thought as much looking at folks play the game from NYC Comic Con until now, but seeing the details behind each one in that video really drove it home for me.

True dat. Speaking of X-factor did you guys notice that in

you see Dante use X-factor to CANCEL out of his infinite strike special? Using DHC to cancel hypers is awesome. No more go behinds from guys catching people stuck in a hyper to kill them.

Didn't know the SRK meltdown was this bad. Don't know why I didn't get my popcorn ready. I've lived through this more than enough times.

Sorry guys. MvC3, may just be your Brawl.

I'm disgusted at myself. My team right now is dante/spencer/sent...dante/spencer get owned cuz I called an assist and the kid does a random chun super. It's sent v his team of chun/drdoom/dante.

I XF'd and owned all 3 of them in 10s...wtf.

Didn't she lose in the movie to a hug. I don't remember. Haven't seen X3 since opening day at the theatre.

What happened?

Brawl situation was.. so much fanservice it got in the way of the quality of the actual gameplay. Is this what we got?

Why is it that I still laughed even though the outcome I expected from this story was totally opposite? :lol

Sent is a fucking thug.

Aww hell no. :(

So I have to deal with two fanbases clamoring for "the good old days" and being incapable of appreciating the most recent game even with all of the good they bring forward? :P

I love all Smashes and I love what I've seen and played/demoed of Mahvel, it's all love and peace in this bitch for me.

This blog post is pretty telling of what we're likely going to be seeing on the site in the coming weeks after the game releases. Maybe 'meltdown' was premature, but there's a lot of bleeding hearts in the comment's section.
that was not even close to a meltdown.

As long as we aren't slipping on our faces at random times I don't think it'll be that bad.

Me neither, but I still sympathize. It's hard for newer generations to understand the blood sweat and tears that shaped the old guard's values and it's often hard for elders to accept change.

The world keeps turnin'.
