So yeah, really awesome so far! Every character feels unique and dangerous.

Some REALLY BAD UI "decisions" though. The Pause menu is laughably ugly, missing information and hard to read.

Like, for example, theres a Phoenix combo in challenge mode that requires me to do a modified normal move (like, you know, press forward and hard kick at the same time) The problem is that instead of telling me that they give it a NAME and in the character moves section they only name hypers and the regular specials (those that require motions) so I have no idea how the fuck that move is performed. In SF IV you pressed select and had the option of seeing the input necessary, not here.

Also, some long combos you cant see on the challenge screen because the necessary steps dont fit! You have to press start, pause the game, pick the combo from the menu and memorize it.

So yeah, awesome in regards to anything fighting related (except for sound effects, when you hit the sound sounds muffled, not very impactful like in SF IV, for instance) The presentation leaves a lot to be desired except for the battle UI, the win quotes and the character select screen
Thats a big pet peeve of mine too :/

If you can combo into Chun Li's EX legs consistently in SF4 it's VERY VERY EASY!

I wouldn't know. I don't play the game. Even with less button pushes for Legs, it has to be easier.

They did it on the Spooky stream yesterday. They said it was two attack buttons and down down I think.

That's more inputs than MVC2 wavedash....

I'm losing hype for this game by the day.

Switch the sound effects to classic, which resembles the preview build of the game. If you leave it on by default, it sounds like your punching/blocking a huge chunk of meat. While in the preview, it sounds less like physical punches and more like your hitting a laser shield. Much better.

Not so much the sound, but that kind of crap in mission/challenge mode

:OOOOOOOO!

what is advancing guard? Omg, is it somekind of parry system ? IS IT!?

Kind of. If you press two attack buttons at the same time you're getting hit(while you're blocking) then they get pushed off. Kind of like a parry I suppose but I'm not even sure my description is right.

My friend who was playing it was bitching about the AI constantly using it or something like that. Have no idea what it is though.

Yeah, it is pushblock.. Just press two attacks button when you are blocking.
Anti-X23 System no doubt.

Can't say I'm that big of a fan of it at the moment but its still early... (I'm raging ahead of time at online Arthurs who zone hardcore, advance block, then zone harder)

Dude, I played all today against probably the best players up here in Washington state so far. One guy has a KILLER x-23. Push block didn't work worth shit against her. She is a fucking demon. She's like the bastard child of Rogue and Cammy...mixed with pure rage virus.

That has me so excited, she sounds like tons of fun and pretty different from the Wolf.

Hype restored

That's it folks! MvC3 is dead on arrival!

O god, it shows your win/loss% on your title card. I do not like that at all.

Hey! If you have a lot of loses you'll have some people sleep on you. It will eventually balance out your wins!

God damn this thread. I am gone for one and a half day and it has now grown into a monstrous 100 page HYPE-TON!

And JWong will come around, no doubt. Obvious knee jerk reaction to the game. It's really going to be interesting to see who is the "cheapest" in this game because right now I am seeing stuff from characters who were previously deemed "low tier" by some that is making me go "HOLY SHIT!"

I am talking about Felicia, Morrigan, Wolverine, Thor, X-23 etc who people had written off before but only now are people discovering stuff with them. While Dante and Sentinel keep growing into monstrous behemoths day by day. Just say Dante kill off a character using basically his Devil Trigger hyper with X Factor. The boost from both was enough to just kill the character with normals/specials.

How this game can be any cheaper than MvC2, I cannot fathom.

Cheaper in the sense that its faster pace, has no charge characters meaning moves are on the fly and X-factor. All of that besides the more simplified button configs.

Max has some of his online fights with Marn and others up on youtube. Your Wesker is nasty.

Insane, man so much good stuff coming out of these MVC3 vids. This game is a combo video maker's dream. Max made Ironman look good, hardly anyone showed him off yet. That Wesker is like some ghost monk. Capcom did a good job with him and Dante. They really act like their home game selves.

Shuma is a half charge character :)

It just seems like a really dumb statement to make before the game is even out. Not to mention that Wong picks the, arguably, "cheapest" character in the game with Storm.

Sincerely hate the trend of comeback mechanics in fighting games. I wish there were some type of 'X-Factor Cancel' mechanic, where you could utilize your own X-Factor (via combo, or something) to cancel your opponent's X-Factor capabilities, nullifying them both completely for the match, or for the character on screen (something similar to Gamebreaker cancels in NBA Street).

That'd be way more interesting and dynamic IMO.

I would have rather them just split the current x-factor into a few different categories, almost like the assists. One working similar to the one in place but WAY toned down(regen, speed up, dmg up but all only minimally), one just set on regen and speed that lasts maybe half as long, and one just for dmg for ~5 seconds to use in a combo or out of blockstun for a quick and lethal comeback.

The level 3 x-factor stuff I'm already seeing like Sentinel killing people in 4 hits is pretty lame. The fact that lasts for 30 seconds is insannnnne. And before anyone says something like "the game isn't even out yet!", I know, obviously. I just really don't want the game to devolve into x-factor being the deciding factor of the match.

I really don't see how that isn't the case already.

oh, that's a bummer. I was under the impression that it was something along the lines of SF4 ultras, where the more damage you take the more you build your ultra meter.

but you can only use it once (per round), right?

How much of an effect does x-factor have on chipping?

your x factor becomes better with the amount of characters you've loss.

the difference here is since you have it at the start, you can burn your comeback factor for a headstart in pressure, or use it to match your opponent's attempted x-factor comeback, etc.

what people are talking about here is level 3 x factor, i.e., when you lose two of your characters.

Once and yes it increases chip damage.
to the point where it would be feasible to just chip the shit out of characters at the end of a round with full screen supers? because that seems sorta anti-climactic :/

I'm a newbie at this marvel nonsense so don't laugh at me if I'm being silly.

Nah, ultras still suck.

All hypers do different amount. X-factor storm does like 35% of someone's bar on chip, but no one else is close to that. X-factor also makes you immune to chip, so you can counter someone trying this if you didn't use yours already.

You can certainly do that and I'm sure there will be a lot of online matches where someone will try to do that. Sound tactics should overcome though, they always do after the hyperbole dies down.

I know Sent's does a ridiculous amount of chip too, no idea if it's near what Storm can do though.
