Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond launches 12-20-24! Keep updated on MVCIB.com for the download link & instructions on release date. @MVCI-Beyond This was a labor of love from nearly 40 people over 8 months of work. All available, for FREE!

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite & Beyond is a mod for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite that is being led by Maximilian Dood and a team of modders for a number of months now. It even has some new original music done by Alex Moukala who is a decently known Youtuber that has done a lot of Final Fantasy covers online. This is no mere mod that's for sure.

As per March Climber March Climber , download links and balance patch notes at the bottom of the page.

I don't know why people don't just drop their mods, chancing fate by giving it a release date and launch trailer.

Hope it comes out in 3 days!

Is MvCI worth buying on deep sale if you're a fan of all the other games in the series?
I never bought or played this one due to all the hate it got back in the day...

No 3 vs 3.... No try.

Max always saw MvC: Infinite as a direct sequel to Marvel Vs Capcom 1, which was 2v2, with the infinity stone system.

Him and his team built upon the groundwork that Capcom had already laid out, with this mod.

MvC 2 and 3 are on a separate track than this and MvC 1.

According to Max himself, he has worked behind the scenes and has gotten the blessing from Capcom on this. Besides even in the slight chance something goes wrong, the mod is already fully done, which is why it’s 3 days and not ‘hey guys we have this idea support us’.

He’s currently live right now discussing the work him and his team have done:

Edit:

-He will be doing a ‘direct’ stream thursday and will play the game and showcase the many changes in detail.

-He said the mod will be somewhere between potentially 4.5gb to 6.5gb in size, due to high quality assets and audio for 4k displays.

-Playable online, matchmaking works as long as both parties have the mod installed.

-Deluxe version with all of the characters recommended for the full mod. Currently on sale for 11.99 on steam.

-There are going to be tournaments hosted for this.

-Special content was made for fun modes and extras for single player/campaign players. He will reveal more on thursday.

I've been watching all his MvC:I updates, he never got a blessing, he HOPES that they're fine and understand he's just enhancing a product he loves and that other people can see it's great.

Also from the live stream just now: "Has Capcom said anything about my mod? Hopefully not! *nervous chuckle* hopefully not."

So again, I'm really hoping no nonsense occurs and we all just have the mod on Friday, and it's on the internet forever but it's hardly set in stone, anything can happen in 3 days, any suit could see this and be like "Nope, shut it down."

Ah, the source I read was wrong then, thanks for the clarification. I was taking further notes but missed that.

To be fair he did state in the livestream today that they did not mess with Capcom’s anti-cheat at all, which is what they would have a larger issue with for a mod of this scale.

If for some odd reason Capcom decides to shut this down (even though there have been some pretty big untouched Capcom game mods including a recent Monster Hunter mod), all of the gameplay changes were already released to the community and are findable. This biggest loss would be the additional modes and artistic overhaul.

Shame the base art of Infinite is so trash. The new shaders do a good job of making it look more comic book-ish, but you're still polishing turds.

New outfits and gameplay stuff looks good though. I'll try it out next time I re-install Infinite.

I know it's probably more work, but I wish Capcom would do hand drawn 2D again for a fighting game. Ideally a new Darkstalkers since 3D won't be able to handle the goofy and bombastic animations.

Just one would be nice.

This is much more than just a visual mod and I think Max will probably have to cut a new trailer with his team to make sure that this part is emphasized, because you’re the second person so far to say the polished turd line lol.

I’ll probably bump this thread with further gameplay details once he does his thursday stream.

To be clear, I don't think it's bad, it's an improvement all the way around, but the models/art sytle Capcom used for base Infinite just doesn't look good, regardless of shaders. I mentioned in my post that the new costumes/gameplay stuff looks good, but I'm not playing Infinite at a competitive level, so to me that stuff is tertiary in importance to the visual stuff, which the video in the OP focuses on the most.

Max has been live for a little bit now, showcasing all of the changes...Art, characters, music, extra levels, etc.

He's also going to be going over gameplay changes as well. I will edit this post going forward.

Edit:

-Steam deck compatibility confirmed. Some of the team was playing the latest version on it already.

-New menu art, new stage art, new character selection screen and art
-More clarity of moves due to art changes
-New end of battle screens, new beginning of battle screens, new UI art, new KO effects
-New super transitions
-New announcer voice
-New Venom voiceover

-Character models now have a brighter style, hand drawn linework for each, including remade models (Chris's new model has his RE 5 face)
-Brand new alternate costumes (including obscure references like Vergil MM Zero)
-Costume Pack DLC must be purchased to access the above. They are not allowed to make new outfit models outside of what's available.
-Max asked the director of Strider 2014 if it was okay to use that specific strider model/costume and he okay'd it. They had to rip the model from the 2014 edition and make it fit within the new artstyle. It works including the electric scarf. Also costumes that reference Strider Hien and Hayato from Plasma Sword.
-Spencer has his old school Nathan 'Rad' Spencer outfit, the P2 outfit, and a special "Nuke'em" outfit.
-Captain America was a huge change in model, went more for 90s comic-style Cap.
-Doctor Strange is also a redesign, more 90s comic-style in design
-Rocket Raccoon was also made to look more cartoon/comic-book esque rather than the 'realistic raccoon' look he had originally.
-Gave Iron Man a War Machine alt costume

-New music tracks
-Custom menu themes
-Dante has his DMC 3 combat theme now (yes, the one everyone likes)
-Mega Man X's track is really nice, heard it on Saltybet before not sure which game it's from
-Unsure of where the Zero theme comes from (I really need to play the X series beyond part 3) but it sounds nice
-Cap's theme sounds like it's from the old arcade game I think
-Monster Hunter has the traditional MH theme track now
-Hawkeye's theme might be from the Sega genesis game (some of these tracks are deep cuts)

-New balancing
-Games moves a bit faster, in between MvC:I original and MvC3 speed.
-There will be more balance patches in the future.
-Dramatic adjustments to stone system
-Dramatic adjustments to tag balance

I did not list every change, and this is more of a phase 1 launch. They will still be doing more after launch, and he will fund whatever the team wants to do post-launch.

I wanted to make this part a new post:

This is not just a competitive mod. They wanted to make sure there was content for people to have fun. This includes:

  • Arcade mode good to go with mod with functioning arcade mode boss, Omega Ultron
  • Story mode good to go with mod (they could not change the cutscenes themselves since they were pre-rendered.), Mode includes new music
  • New mode: Single Cross Frenzy (Cross Fever mode, controlling 2 characters simultaneously with one controller in a 2v2 mode)
  • New mode: 4player mode (Cross Frenzy but with 4 player controllers instead of 2)
  • New feature: Cross Frenzy arcade mode
  • New feature: Tag Team co-op arcade mode (Similar to Street Fighter Alpha 3)
  • Unsure about co-op story mode but you can try to enable it and see what happens (that's what he said verbatim)
  • New mode: Cross Fever (2v2 traditional with tagging, like 2XKO)

It comes out tomorrow. Once it’s out, it’s out.

According to Max this got about as much or slightly more attention as the big RE4 texture mod and the Monster Hunter ice mod, which were never taken down.
Were those paid projects?

I think a difference here is.... Marvel, for one. And then if this is a paid mod.

And the trailer is initially very deceptive which is actually a compliment to how well made it is.

He can't just ask random directors if it's OK to use and then think that saves him. IP potetection doesn't work that way, and big time influencers really ought to know better.

It looks cool but it would've been better as a silent drop or a project pitch. But to charge money, ehh, you're just asking for trouble.

They are charging 0.00 for it if that is what you mean. Charging for a mod is how some other famous Capcom mods got taken down.

Again, no charging of money on Max's part. It would have been dumb of him to do so anyway. The only thing you will be paying money for is the game itself and the game's DLC, both of which directly make Capcom money.

Max literally said at the end of his stream that he did this and put a ton of money into it because he simply loves the marvel vs capcom I.P. And again, it is out tomorrow. Not in a month, or a year. Tomorrow.

7 years ago when this game came out I really wasn't happy with it. Didn't like it went from 2 v 2 from 3 v 3, didn't like the art style it looked awful, the music was awful, it was missing the X-men, the story mode is hilariously terrible, it got no support, the online was dead and incredibly sweaty even by ranked standards for the people still playing.

Gameplay wise I forced myself to give it a chance, but all of the above just gave me very little to no tolerance for learning it or really investing into it. I just wanted more Marvel 3 honestly.

Tried it today and joined a couple of lobbies of newbies like an hour or two and I have to say....the paint job and the new music, had a profound effect on increasing my desire to want to play a bit longer and how much fun I was having. From the moment you fire up the game and you're bombarded with the new art and the incredibly catchy new main theme, you feel like you're playing something that people actually gave a shit about and for me at least, that helps a lot.

The game IS fun, the way you string combos along is unapologetically Marvel and in this game's meta trying to essentially make it all safe/and or apply more pressure in some way or form either with cancels or tags make for really interesting exchanges and interactions with the other guy trying to do the same thing. I found it much easier to find the fun win or lose with this mod, because A) It didn't look like complete garbage on this screen, and B) when the new character themes kicked in as they died or soul stormed they were all really fun to listen to. I think Zero's theme is a standout among some of the new themes. Alex cooked.

If you ever played this game, and kinda liked it, but didn't love it, try it with this mod, I think you'd be surprised at how much more you like it.

If you just hated this game:
This game sucks.
Then this mod will do nothing for you, your eyes are too clouded by hate.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
All this for a sub par game (making it pretty good finally) and still nobody has made a Morrigan higher res sprite mod for MvC, MvC2, CvS, CvS2 or whatever other game still uses her ancient (even compared to these also already ancient games) Darkstalkers sprite, come ooooooon 2D pixel art bros.

We like her 2d sprite as-is
