Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I think the games been cancelled

Just like Dino Crisis franchise? :P

I don't think we would get any news until next month or March. It's obvious the game is still in early stage so I guess it might be like MVC3 where we didn't get new news for couple of months after its announcement.

MvC3 actually consistently had some sort of official showing every month from it's reveal until release:

April 2010 - Revealed
May 2010 - First screenshots revealed in Game Informer (Also confirmed Dante, Deadpool, Captain America, Felicia, though they weren't shown in-game until...)
June 2010 - E3, the above characters officially shown off, Dormammu teased
July 2010 - SDCC, Super Skrull, Trish, Doom & Chun Li, Ammy & Thor revealed
August 2010 - Gamescom, Viewtful Joe & Dormammu reealed
Sep 2010 - TGS, Wesker, Spidey, X-23 & Tron revealed
Oct 2010 - Spencer, Arthur, Magneto & MODOK revealed
Nov 2010 - She Hulk & Zero, Shuma and Jill revealed as DLC along with the Limited Edition
Dec 2010 - Viper & Storm
Jan 2011 - Pretty much everyone else
Feb 2011 - Released

I remember the wait between news seeming like forever, but looking back, that was actually an amazingly consistent reveal schedule.

There are a few more days in the month...maybe we'll get something at random? PAX South seems like a good place to have a reveal.

The prospect of there potentially being no reveals for awhile is brutal. Can't imagine playing the waiting game for another month or more.
I'd buy that.
Me too.

i liked the umvc3 timelines

1 month: announce umvc3
2 month: fuckup and let somebody break into your website, revealing all of the characters
3 month: pretend like it didn't happen and lose your contract with Marvel

It wasn't that someone broke into their website, they just had the webpages up but the links hidden but if you typed in the name you could still access the image.

The Marvel license simply expired as of 2013 for UMvC3 (2014 for MvCI), & was likely later renewed in 2015 before MvCI development began.

wasn't UMVC3 leaked in an Amazon.com listing with screenshots of the new characters and all?
All signs were pointing to it getting announced at SDCC 2011, but Amazon jumped the gun and showed a handful of screenshots like, an hour before Capcom officially announced it, though it only confirmed the initial 4 revealed (Hawkeye, Firebrand, Ghost Rider & Strider)

The Capcom website leak that blew everything else open was a little later that day.

Capcom just rolled with the UMvC3 leak after it happened, even talked about some of the characters before their reveal. I remember Seth Killian posting a picture on twitter of a 1m damage combo for Phoenix Wright before his trailer lol.

I remember the speculation on his damage output before we knew about Turnabout mode.

Well at least with MvC3, one of the things that could sort of tide people over a bit was that they released promo art that had characters in silhouette, so people could speculate about that. I think that most of the silhouette's were obvious (Super Skrull, Dormammu, Chun Li) but characters like Trish and Frank West weren't as obvious. Though maybe because of what happened with Frank, they won't do that again.

I'm fine with the wait. I think next time we see the game we should get nice jump in lighting and graphical style.

What are some upcoming "big" that could use to show off footage apart from E3 and Evo?

This games gonna be godlike and we don't even know much about it. Can't wait to see it's near final stages, games gonna be gorgeous af.

Trish's was actually fairly easy to spot (Her silhouette in the first piece of art was literally her DMC4 official render pose) Dormammu was the big point of contention, since Capcom actually edited out the flaming head, which threw a lot of people off.

But yeah, the silhouettes were hype. I remember the end of the Tron/X-23 reveal having a silhouette that was obviously Wesker and getting hype as fuck. And C.Viper's rather obvious one going unnoticed in art for months until someone finally pointed it out a few weeks before she was revealed. And the screw up that revealed Haggar too early.

Damn, pre-release MvC3 was fun as hell.

Yeah, I have a feeling the next time we see Infinite, it'll look much better than the initial trailer.
Yeah, a polished version of what we saw initially at PSX is going to look sharp. Can't wait to see how some of the characters will look modeled out.

Oh man, it was so fun back then. All of the wild conjecture and debates--there was conversation going on all the time.

I would love for them to reveal a slightly modified silhouette of a portion of the roster for this game too.

I really can't wait to see Shinkiro's art for Infinite. I absolutely loved his artwork for MVC3/UMVC3. He did some pretty cool stuff for Ultra/Street Fighter V as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the art back in the day, but it's gotten considerably better since then. We definitely need those silhouettes!

That's if he's doing any art for MvCI. That said, did he do any art for USFIV?

Well, I don't see why he wouldn't. He's mainly known for his VS series stuff in more recent yrs, but he still did some art Street Fighter V just a yr ago. Shinkiro also did a ton of artwork for Capcom's non fighting games. I highly doubt he won't do any artwork on Infinite.

If you're buying physical, it'll probably be an appreciating product when it becomes rare. If you assume that it'll double in value, I'm sure you can spare $55 as a donation. Then in about a year, you can sell your copy to a collector and it's a wash.

That's what a true Mahvel fan would do.

$30 - Physical PS4 copy
$25 - PC copy

I want the physical PS4 copy so I can bring it to FGC meetups and have Marvel ready to go on anybody's PS4, no downloads. PC is for modding. This will be the 7th and 8th time I've purchased Marvel 3. That's a pretty good contribution...

I'm fairly sure the silhouette with Dormammu that didn't have flames was for one of the trailers that came later. The original poster, as well as the second poster that had silhouettes had him with a flaming head.

I remember at the time some people thought it might be Ghost Rider, though I noticed it was Dormammu right away due to the shoulder things, which are actually from his classic costume, rather than the modern costume which is his default. I really do wish we could have had the image fully revealed to show that, but I feel we never will see it.

I certainly remember the Haggar slip up, but what was the C.Viper thing again? I vaguely remember that.

Shinkiro made Hugo look handsome. That composition for USF4 looks like a Marvel image. Though it's probably because my mind automatically associates any of Shinkiro's art + group composition as "Marvel".

I was being facetious.

Lol, I noticed that about Hugo. And yeah, I agree that his art is definitely a reminder of Marvel.

What's interesting is Retsu's appearance in the artwork. Makes me wonder if he was originally supposed to be the final character instead of Decapre.

They should have done with characters that are completely functional in the game at the early stage. I do remember Trish and Frank West was really obvious and people figured out it was them in the cast. Some people were in completely denial about that.

Yeah, I have a feeling the next time we see Infinite, it'll look much better than the initial trailer.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it would be in case.

My apologies I did meant to put Street Fighter V down but I don't know why I put MVC3 instead. I guess it's a freudian slip.

Gotta spread the reveals out for the shitty sized roster.

I would love to see them doing it again but I want them to make it even harder for us to figure out the characters. It would be so much fun.

A bonus picture of someone being wrong about their prediction with silhouette.

Also one of my favorite leak from MVC3, along with UMVC3 website errors so I could have an early peek at Phoenix Wright, Frank West, and many more.

I remember the Trish reveal; the shock wasn't because she was hard to point out in the sillhouettes (her pose/render is too unique for it to be anyone else in Capcom's history) but the shock came from the fact that we got TWO Devil May Cry characters.

I remember the day I saw She-Hulk's silhouette, and I really hope that it would be her. I was so thrilled when they finally released She-Hulk trailer to just cement it. I didn't think I would get so many characters I wanted in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and it's sequel. It's going to be very hard to top Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's roster.

And that the second wasn't vergil or nero

Yeah I saw the silhouette and deep down I knew it was Trish but I just couldn't believe it.

It's a pretty cool choice because the Capcom side really needed a female air dash type character to compare against characters like Storm/Phoenix. Mobility in general is very lacking on the Capcom side... it's mostly dude fighting with fists or dudes with swords and guns.

Trish ended up being one of the more fun characters to use. I knew nothing about DMC when MVC3 came out, but it prompted me to go back and play through the series. I'm glad I did.

The Haggar leak was the best!

Oh yeah. I was glad to see Haggar be chosen.

For me, I was kinda surprised that Vergil or Nero wasn't chosen alongside Dante. Though Vergil made it eventually. Trish is cool tho.

Looks like nothing from PAX South. Not surprising.

Let's hope we get something in Feb.

It's totally not surprising but take a look at SFV schedule so we might see the similarity.

Street Fighter V
Announcement Video - December 6 2014
Street Fighter V Gameplay Video Extended Cut - December 13 2014
Nash Gameplay Trailer - February 24 2015
M. Bison Gameplay Trailer - May 20 2015

After M. Bison, we got like one or two characters per month except November and January.

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite
Announcement Video - December 3 2016
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Extended Gameplay Trailer - December 4 2016

It's plausible we could get some kind of announcement in February.

I'm thinking we'll probably get info sooner and more frequently than with SFV since this game will more than likely have a much larger roster and is coming out a few months earlier than V did. That said, it's also worth noting we saw 4-6 characters at a time almost every month with MvC3's release schedule, so I'm sure the case with this game will be similar.

Part of me hopes that Ms. Marvel & Rashid are the next reveals. I mean, I'm sure we'll get both of them either way, but you know what I mean.
