I can see more than 6 DLC characters in 2018 but only if they're still doing a lot of bringing back vets from MVC3. I don't expect more than 6 newcomers at most next year along with the returnees.

I have kind of a crazy idea.

Capcom doesn't make arcade versions of their arcade fighters anymore. But what if they released a "coin op" version of MvC:I that was essentially licensed for use in an arcade? It probably wouldn't take much work and could just be a special software release. Arcade operators can make their own cabinet and use their own hardware to run it in.

I only say this because large arcades like Galloping Ghost have made their own cabinet for console fighters like MK:X (IIRC)

Something like that would be cool.

But it'll never happen. Look how long it's taking Capcom to release the Arcade version of SFV.

I could see 10-12 (5-6 newcomers, 5-6 vets) where if you buy the pass the vets are free. Or when you buy the new character individually, you get the veteran with the newcomer at no/fewer extra charge.

Or I could see like I think Jaw is meaning S2 being Jan-May and S3 starting around July-December or something.

I just wouldn't count on capcom to go above and beyond is all I'm saying.

If they want to go #esports, they'd have to have one season run until december.

I repeat, Capcom should release 3 $20 packs of 4 characters per year.

I'd say they should release a yearly pass that has all 3 packs for a (further) discounted price, but the cheapest they'd do that is like $45 per year and that would get slammed casually.

The reference isn't clear. It's part of an ending to a commercial flop. That isn't even referenced in the same context. So it's just weird and awkward and not even really a big part of the character.
Like it or not, the Spencer in MvC is based on the 2009 game, and his level 3 references a major moment from that game. This is legitimately one of the weirdest criticisms leveled against MvCI that I've heard.

We just got a real match!

Also ...

Onimusha is outdated.

God of War is overrated.

Long have I waited...

And now I am finally Jebaited (aka unjuniored) ... just in time for DMC5

About time. You were a junior forever.

They messed up not using Classic Bionic Commando skin too in my mind. His new reboot look looks so bad its hard to take the dude seriously. I guess most folks more familiar with the reboot look? Man I grew up on the classic bionic commando games

This rebooted guy is not the Bionic Commando I know. Guess I'm a stick in the mud. didnt even give reboot game a chance

Don't think about it too hard, they just recycled him from MvC3 and probably felt the classic one was better suited for DLC again since everyone wants that one. I don't know anybody who prefers the 2009 version lmao

2009's Bionic Commando isn't the reboot! Rearmed is! BC09 was a sequel to Rearmed!

oh good was afraid I was speaking an unpopular opinion and would get told off.

I dont know which game is which. I just hate this weird looking dude with the dreads

Even the people who played it forgot about it and I got the platinum on PS3. It's not a bad game though but even I would've said to use the Rearmed look. While BC technically sold more (though it took like 10 years to get to 1 million sales) Rearmed is the more popular game and look.

In general though I'm not quite sure why they went with dread Spencer at all in terms of design.

sorry it's just a pet peeve of mine

Dreaded Spencer is from the 2009 Bionic Commando which is a sequel to the remake/reboot Bionic Commando Rearmed, with redheaded Nathan "Rad" Spencer.

An early look at Arcade Mode. You can change your stone inbetween matches

yeah, that was posted earlier, it's a neat QoL feature. No reason not to adapt your stone to the opponents team.

No problem. I wish Rearmed was on Steam trying to dig this game up. I'd give that a shot

Also really liked that Strider game that was free on PSN too.

I don't think that move is an overhead for Thanos. He has an overhead where he leaps forward a bit and kinda dunks. I think the one in the timestamp is just an armored command normal (I could be wrong)

Well I could be wrong but I heard something similar on Alioune's twitter. Some guy on his twitter said he has a video forthcoming soon on this matter.

It just an odd reference from an incredibly small moment in a niche game done poorly and comes off even more awkward in this game. It's just them cutting costs on animation and trying to give Spencer something new with their incredibly limited budget.

I think i'm pretty ok with the way this game looks now. Only a couple universal things bother me.

When characters are getting hit it still looks pretty weird/jank. Especially in the air or ground to air. Also when the character dies the way they absorb into the background doesn't look very natural. Its kinda like they weirdly shrink or something.

Also very minor but, I don't see the point of the camera starts a bit far, then zooms in at the start of the match. I think dbfZ is the opposite. The camera starts close then goes out a tad when the match begins.

One cool thing though (to me anyway). Is unlike Marvel 3 if the other character kills or is there during the kill they stay on screen. Like yeah we did it boy. Of course there is no double pose or anything but, I always thought it was a lil weird in 3 how they dip unlike mvc2 etc.

The roster is a whole other story though.

If Taskmaster came back, would being voiced by Clancy Brown be considered an upgrade over Steve Blum (though Taskmaster would lose his Bronx accent)?

From X-Kira, he apparently dug around PS4 demo and found the data so he made the mock of what he saw.

Personally 6 characters is what I would expect to happens. However The pace would be incredibly slow because it would be weird to not see characters bundling up. Instead of that we might get like a character per two months like SFV.

However I would like it very much if we could get 12 characters per year so we could have two characters together per two months.

I'm imaging a fighting game that would release 12 characters a month

ok thats better :p

I could see them do a early 2018 pass with just returning characters, which in theory wouldnt take as long to do, so they could release it all before EVO. Then maybe do another batch of new guys later if the game pans out.

Like the obvious guys, Vergil, Wesker, Akuma and... I dunno the X-Men I guess, Magneto, Wolverine, Storm before Evo.

I dont think we will ever see the less popular guys that didnt make the roster to be quite frank. Those are a lost cause imo.

also like munch said, you dont need to datamine the demo to reach that conclusion, its the most obvious one :P

its like we predicting venom, winter soldier, monster hunter and meio for the other 4 slots in the season 1 because they are in the zip leak,

After doing some digging, I found out that Marvel Animation has their cartoons' voice acting recorded at Studiopolis Burbank. If the name of the studio sounds familiar, it should. It's the same place where the voice acting for the Modern Sonic games as well as Sonic Boom is recorded at (& is the reference for the name of Studiopolis Zone from Sonic Mania). This is likely where MvCI's voice acting was recorded since it's apparently not at New Generation Pictures (the studio that recorded the English voice acting for SFV, MvC3/UMvC3, SFIV, & SFxT).

It'd probably be Wolverine, Deadpool, & Doctor Doom on the Marvel side (if F4 characters are off-limits now, swap Doom for Magneto or Storm). There's also the likes of Phoenix Wright & Amaterasu as far as popular veterans go.

One thing that bothers me is the lack of body bouncing during hard knockdowns and KOs. Notice when someone dies in a match, they just splat on the ground? It's weird.

Eighting always had a thing for bodies twirling in the air, and exaggerated body bouncing. Makes the game look more lively.

There's also the weird hard cut from victory pose, to post victory dialogue. The screen cuts to black abruptly and ruins the pacing.

Also not a fan of the gruff older announcer guy. Doesn't fit at all for a fighting game, but I guess fits for whatever tone this game is going for. I prefer the vanilla SF4 announcer and Sakura from Naruto.

A veteran SP woukd be the most boring $30 I could spend. It's not like SFV where even vets play completely different from before.

if they were smart they would mix old and new.

But...you know, Capcom and smart :3

Yup, but just trying to start a conversation since the thread is pretty quiet today. :P

I think they would mix it up this time since they are on complete different level than Street Fighter V in term of customers' expectations.
