Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite gameplay

I'm sold, but really hope it comes with $60 worth on content on day1. Fighting games these days want to charge $100 for everything.

I'm not even sure how they'll accomplish shrinking powers in a 2D fighter, but I can't wait to see the result.

I guarantee he'll have a dodge move that involves shrinking.

Other than that im assuming his moveset will be similar to his Disney infinity moves tweaked for 2D.

Yeah Im not feeling this at all.

I dont mind reused assets but this game copies the worst things: OTGs (these ruined Marvel), simplified way down, 2v2 without any unique assists, huge focus on gems.

To top it off it looks cheap and drab. MvC3 looked amazing from the get go and I would anticipate every character unveiling with maximum hype. I cant feel anything for this game, aparts from the gameplay and graphics its also gonna have your usual dose of Capcom bullshit (if Fight Money is in this too then God help us, SFV is still a total shitshow while loading or navigating menus)

If youre hyped for this game then more power to you but as a long time MvC fan, Capcom will have to try extra hard to win me back. Discussed my thoughts with a friend who pretty much feels the same.

They should port MvC2 to the best platform for the game

Honestly, I hope Capcom does a quick and simple trailer about the six Infinity Stones and what each of them is capable of. With what we have know, we only have three Gems that have been shown off: Power Stone for increased attack and wall bounce, Time Stone for warping around and faster movement speed, and the Space Stone which places the Shame Cube (I'm going to start calling it that too since it fits in almost too well) on the opponent and limit's their ability to move around for a limited time (although I don't think we saw the passive ability it has. If we did, I guess I missed it).

They did say that the Gems would almost serve like a third character on the team, and it would seem that everyone is in agreement with how that could be possible when the Shame Cube got enabled. Not to mention that the idea that everyone is passing around for using the Soul Gem as a possible "revive" in case if a team mate gets knocked down, and we could see a whole new depth of strategy of how players may set up teams and stones.

Feels like a modern MVC 1 .

I prefer the madness of 3v3 with assists.

I don't recognize the marvel craziness in it, it's too toned down.

Oh well ....

I would like to remind everyone saying this looks like shit compared to the MvC2 and 3 that both of those games got SHIT ON for how they looked when they came out.

So MvC1 isn't Marvel because it wasn't 3v3?

Love that it's got 2v2 aerial raves and no wavedash and folks are still angry bout it being called tvc2 for some reason lol. Embrace it. Lord knows I will.

Remember how SF5 looked when it was first revealed. It'll look fine I know capcom can deliver a pretty looking game.

The other stuff though, we'll see.

I'm hype tho, It definitely looks much slower though. Like Ouroboros is turned down like 10 notches lol.

The infinity stone effect is really cool though! Like when they get caught in the giant tesseract.

I'm intrigued.
SFV wasn't revealed 5 months before launch. It was first shown like 14 months before it launched.

This game is going to be another sausage fest, isn't it?

Mostly dudes.

MvC2 looks like total ass because of the 3D backgrounds and in-game UI.

OH I agree, but we were talking about character models, MvC2 was the beginning of the end for beautiful fighting games made by Capcom.

Those were beautiful pixel art, these are washed-out-shiny-resin-skin abominations.

They might've been beautiful pixel art in their own respective games but in MvC2 they're squashed sprites with choppy animation thanks to them cutting down frames to fit more characters. Not to mention they're sprites from vastly different eras and different styles mashed with ugly 3D backgrounds.

When I think beautiful pixel art, MvC2 is the last thing that cones to mind.

Not digging the artstyle. I think I would have preferred the 3d cell shaded look of the SF games

Those games aren't cell-shaded.

Agree. X-Men CotA is GOAT for me. MSH, too. Obviously the CPS3 shit is god-tier.

I have always thought MvC1 was one of the best looking Capcom fighters. It's all about the backgrounds.

As great as it was, MVC2 (along with CVS2) was pretty hideous to look at with its 3D backgrounds emphasizing the low-res sprites. Not at all one of my candidates for good-looking 2D games.

maybe the following: Hayato, Cable, Amingo, Sonson, Tron, Marrow, Jill, Ruby Heart, and Servbot.

Everyone else? Their sprites were showing their age horribly, specially with the 3d backgrounds.

Some of those sprites in MvC 2 are super old and look really bad compared to the ones they had drawn completely new for the game. I like the game, but c'mon people even called it out on that when it launched back then.

Cyclops must be glad he isn't in this game to deal with this shit anymore.
And yes, he does suffocate and die like that.

As an aside, I can completely see this occurring in Avengers 4: The Avengening when Thanos shows up to battle a beam-enabled hero (likely Tony Stark).

I mean, let's be honest: RDJ *is* getting up there in years. Kill Iron Man/Tony Stark off like a boss.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned that Strider's (and maybe Hawkeye's – the sound mix makes it hard to tell) voice got changed, too. I know most people (including me) just use Strider's Japanese voice, but his new one's actually closer to it.

Man, it's just looking kind of stale. I mean, yeah it's Marvel gameplay but it just looks rough compared to Marvel 3, and that's 3 players aside.

Actually like the Black outlining better than here.

The 2d sprites on early 3d backgrounds era is like my least favorite Capcom era visually. MvC 2 and CvS 2 are such great games and both of them look terrible.

I like it -- looks fun, no touch-of-death combos (at least for now), and looks like I'll be right at home with my boy Hawkeye :)

But that HUD could use work.

I agree that the graphics look too washed out, but I actually like the stages we've seen so far. MvC3's stages were way too dark and busy imo

Tatsunoko vs Capcom was better than MvC3. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

But it was released on the fucking Wii.

If MvC4 plays like TvC I'll be there Day 0.

Honestly that gameplay looked a lot better than I expected. Now if they could make the lighting and UI not dogshit I'd be very pleased.

I mean, how many years of that Winter stage did we have to put up with? Then again, I understand it was for PS3 performance issues in the tourney scene.

Chun doesn't sound like Laura Bailey anymore, either. We can never truly escape from Laura Bailey, though, so she is probably voicing Black Widow.

Why not go for a 2D animated look, but solicit designs for the sprites of both rosters from some of the most prolific comic book artists of all time? I'd love to see a Todd McFarlane Ryu, or an Alex Ross Strider, for example.

This way you can bridge the game with more identification and promotion of prolific artists in the comic book area.

Corporate synergy or something like that.

This is a bit off-topic, but for whatever reason I was thinking Brainiac in IJ2 actually looks like an Alex Ross creation.

Btw - don't you love it when a shot from a future story trailer gets included in your current story trailer? How come no one is talking about the Asgardian palm trees/beach Hulk was clearly at that no one else in the cast was yesterday.

Honestly...

What did yall want out of this game? You knew it would be 2v2 with gems but besides what we knew prior to this week, what else did you want? Judging these responses, I'm wondering if people even wanted the same game and if so it definitely wouldn't make that September release.

That arrow combo shit Clint does is pretty cool

Hell, even the Vs. Games' backgrounds and animations pale compared to CoTA and MSH. A lot of characters lost animations going into the Vs. Games, and the wonderfully animated scrolling, sometimes multi-tiered stages (like Magneto's CoTA stage or Wolverine's MSH stage) were gone in favor of more static looking locales. Which is the tradeoff for all of the other going for the series visually, admittedly.

I think TvC has the best stages of the 3D bunch. There's actually stuff going on in the background, and it rarely impedes performance.

I think this is the part we're supposed to pretend the Vs series didn't have OTGs since fucking Children of The Atom
You can really tell who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't by some of the posts in the thread.

Lol, looks like an indie game. Should be $5.

Because 2D sprites are bloody expensive and time consuming, so if you want quality 2D fighters be prepared for 8 character rosters and 3~4 year development times.
