Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite gameplay

One thing I feel is a definitive step up from MvC3 so far is the music.

It's not super memorable but the MvC3-styled techno was grating to me and in some cases butchered several theme tracks - and I love electronic music most of the time.

Strider
  • Vajira still in
  • Formation still in
  • Ouruboros still in and only take one bar
  • Excalibur still in
  • Gram still in
  • Got new Air Hyper

For reference, Strider's new air special is Savage Slash from Strider 2.

I wonder if they'd retain the Strider 2 motion (Down, Up+Attack) for it in MvCI, since it'd fit with them making motions a bit more simplistic across the board.

Identifying Mahvel.

Is Mahvel.

Only thing that looks shoddy is the graphical user interface. I guess they want it as clean and easy to follow as possible, but it looks dull.

graphics will be defended on the grounds that lots of stuff is going on, but this looks like it could nearly run on PS3 to me. We're getting this the same year as Tekken 7 and Injustice 2?

Breh, all of the Injustice supers run at 30fps, and MvCI has to accommodate four characters on screen.

NRS fighters all feel like extensions of MK characters in animation and movement. I'm sure IJ2 will be great but for me, personally, they don't feel like the characters they're supposed to represent. They all feel like MK characters given slightly different movesets.

Capcom games feel like I'm playing the comic characters. Never get that feeling in Injustice.

They pretty much are MK characters with different movesets. The combo systems work very similarly, and there's tons of MK moves like Sub-Zero's slide in IJ2. I hear ya and don't totally disagree, I'm mostly talking about graphical fidelity here. MvCI does not look like a current gen game to me.

Idk. The HUD/UI looks terrible to me. I don't have the first impression of wow when I watch this, like I did with Marvel 3. Something seems off. Maybe the compression is doing this, but it doesn't look that great (maybe I was expecting more) and the animation doesn't look as smooth as I would hope.

Can't lie, I'm worried. Hope the final product in September is good (I'm still gonna buy it, haha).

Not feeling the art style either. Like Marvel 3's better.

I think it looks fine, TBH. I'm sure they will add more pizzazz as we near launch. I'm not a fan of the MVC3 art style anyway so I don't miss it at all.

MSH is one of my favorite games so I love the inclusion of the gems.

I haven't felt this bad since Trump became President

This is Karma for Capcom boys calling out KOF14 for looking like a PS2 game. It has to be.

I'm a graphics whore, and not ashamed. I grew up a sketch artist and it's the visual artistry in video games that stimulated me as a child and brought me into the medium.

That said, there's nuances to consider. I won't play a pretty game that's shallow or trash, gameplay wise, and I've put time into games that weren't visually appealing (rare, but it's happened).

The graphics-shaming that goes on in gaming circles I find super-weird.

There is an absolute lack of style in the HUD design and the art direction, which is where the mobile game comparisons are coming from, I think.

It would be nice if it was fixed before launch. Shouldn't be that hard. Or, at worst, give us some DLC that adds some fucking flair to the game. this is mahvel.

You obviously missed the character themes in that game. Some of the music is among the best in the genre.

They're really making this on the cheap huh? Like I cannot shake that feeling as I watch this gameplay. I mean they are totally reusing assets and moves, its so obvious. I expect this to affect the roster as well.

This game is so dumbed down, and so much is wrong with it. But these gameplay trailers are still more hype than anything I have seen in SFV.

Ultron doesn't play by the rules.

Ultron doesn't give a shit about humanity's rules.

Ultron is my kind of genocidal robot. If the roster leaks are true, I already have 4 characters I might want to use. I think Capcom earned my preorder today even with all of the dumb shit they are doing.

OK, and Tekken 7??

4 characters excuse doesn't make sense to me when we're using models and animations from MvC3 which was last-gen and had to accommodate 6 characters.

That was also a problem that was prominent in Vanilla and Super SF4.

Fortunately they really stepped their game up by Ultra SF4, and SF5 has only a few themes that I would consider "bad" with the rest being great.

Oh shit, we back to CPS2 era "crouching sweep OTG into full combo" mode now. Both Ultron and Hulk do it on seperate occasions. Guess this really is the XvSF thru MvC1 staff developing this.

EDIT: OH SHIT STRIDER HAS SAVAGE SLASH FROM STRIDER 2

I saw that too. Memories of Strider 2 man.

Those sure are a LOT of reused assets and animation :O

Roster better be big to compensate. Art-style is also a big downgrade from UMvC3. All that being said, gameplay looks more marvel than I expected from what I've read so far. No assists is still a major bummer though :(

hah, agreed. not even mad.

My main fear, like always, is one stone is so much more powerful/optimal than the rest that there's no point in even trying to use any others and it just results in the same shitty setups/combos for every match.

Only thing that looks off a bit is the graphics. Gameplay is Marvel tho. Those graphics I can deal with. Maybe they'll look better by console release like T7's graphics did when it increases multiple times.

And honestly, some people always talk about how gameplay "is the main thing that matters in a fighter" so yeah, there ya go. Yall better lay down in that bed lol.

Man, I'm hyped as shit now after this gameplay, but the game looks like crap.

Awful art direction, awful UI design, the chromatic aberration only makes it even worse.

Marvel 3 looks much more appealing to me, especially now that there's a PC version.

BUT, that being said, the gameplay looks awesome, and even though it reuses a lot of stuff from MVC3, it seems to play very differently, so I can't just ditch one for the other completely. Not to mention that the chances of the netcode being worse than Marvel 3's are very very low. Not impossible, this is Capcom, but very low.

So MVC3's UI looked the same in it's first gameplay showing that it did at launch, right? Because that's what I'm getting from this thread.

In other words we should have a 1v1 MvC or Marvel fighter from Capcom. I won't say no to that.

Maybe Marvel should approach Arc System Works next time.

They're not using models from MvC3. I can't deal with this hyperbole.

Tekken 7 runs on arcade hardware that's more powerful than consoles. It remains to be seen how it's actually gonna run on the PS4.

If you can just tag during specials whenever it's one of the smartest things I've seen capcom do in years. It gets rid of a choice at the select screen for new players while actually making the game MORE complex at high levels. It effectively works like a freeform reverse assist.

I'm guessing you can probably mash one button for a lvl 1 super ala KOF XIV...or supers are mapped to a button or whatever. :|

ala P4A homie :|

Someone on twitter just pointed out that the game is now 2/3 rounds.

(Hawkeye vs Thor at the start has victory icons under the health bars.)

From a visual standpoint, the colors are bland; my guess is that Capcom was trying to make it cinematic like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The HUD really needs to be fixed.

I need to see more gameplay, but it does look good so far.

So you can use your infinity gem's base power as much as you want. Interesting, that's free wall bounces for power gem characters, free full-screen dashes for speed gem characters, and free gravitation pulls for space gem characters. Space Gem's super or whatever also looks pretty dope and interesting. The range on that wallbounce is HUGE too.

Basically:

Power stone:
- Wallbounce move
- Super increases damage output?

Space Stone:
- Pull move
- Super boxes opponent in?

Speed Stone:
- Fullscreen dash move
- Quicker cancelling and chaining of moves?

Ultron looks pretty bland moveset wise.

Can't tell a hard knockdown from a soft one but I guess that comes with time and learning.

Avengers stage looks kind of bland.

This is reassuring footage IMO. Looks pretty Marvel, although noticeably less crazy without assists, but still looks really fun.

Gameplay looks fine, here's hoping it feels the same even with all the rumored simplifications.

Visuals on the other hand look like complete and utter ass. If they were going for the clunky, plastic toy look, kudos to them. MvC3 still looks much better.

I really kind of wish they would have gone the route of Guilty Gear for the character animations instead of the 3D models. I mean, it is a video game based on comic book characters after all.

Though I guess I should still be glad that Marvel is still letting Capcom make more of these games, though MvC2 will still be my favorite among the lot.

So are there only 3 stones in the game?
