Repetitive doesn't mean it's a dud. Tetris has "repetitive gameplay". Shit, The Witcher 3 has the most repetitive combat I've ever played and that didn't exactly hurt the game's reputation. As long as it still feels good to play, it's not going to matter.

The combat in Witcher 3 is mind-numbingly repetitive - especially in the bandit camps and with the 4 drowners along the shoreline - which we see over and over again. But - the game really shines in giving you characters with interesting backgrounds and stories. If Spiderman is similar in this regard (repetitive combat, but an interesting set of characters), the game should be fine.
