Mass Effect: Andromeda - EA/Origin Access trial coming March 16th - 10 hour trial

I'm all for pointing out flaws in the hope that they get fixed but It's crazy how we have so much material floating around that people cant stop posting more of that showcase the games flaws and yet not much at all that showcase how beautiful it can be. I mean, look at this!

(Not my screenshots)

Granted, these are PC Ultra. I think that for some reason even faces look much more tolerable here.

Hey some of my shots :D
Yeah game looks really great a lot of the time. Animations stop it from looking really great all the time but that doesn't mean the whole game is bad. Combat seems like it can get really fun, I'm already enjoying doing combos with powers.
I've just been exploring Eos for the last 2 and half hours and it's been awesome. If there's a decent number of more planets this interesting and large to explore I will be very happy. I was turned off of Inquisition fast in the Hinterlands but not here, really liking it.
Game runs worse when out on the open planet exploring though.
Some Eos shots.

If anyone can answer I'd appreciate it. If you go ahead and buy it can I continue playing where the trial ends right now or do I have to wait for the real release date?

I was able to continue from where I was in the campaign for BF1 after it's trial and think I heard people saying the same for Mirror's Edge. Pretty sure it would be that way here too but I'm not 100% positive on that.
^Seems like that's a yes.

Flipping Gorgeous.

Xbox framerate is horrible on the planet, such an underpowered console

Yeah my friend has PS4 pro review copy and my brother has a XBOXone. The pro is so much better looking than the Xbox. I feel for the xbox users who got boned. I guess they could wait for Scorpio if it is that big a problem.

Wow this character creator, everyone will have the same looking characters.

I thought so too and I wasted WAY too much time of the trial fiddling with it and came up with multiple aesthetically pleasing Ryders. I didn't mess around with a female Ryder because cross-gaming isn't my jam but My brother's female Ryder looks really good too.

Do yourself a favor and make lighter eyes because the lighter eyes read so much better in the Live game.

I tried out multiplayer, it feels really weird with the new "get close to a wall to use cover" feature. I keep hitting the jet pack while I try to get into cover.

I like this thread. More informative and feels more cozy.. and less hostile.

Its amazing what happens when people can actually you know, play the game and have fun rather then get caught up trying to turn it into the recreation of America's funniest home videos.

So, got it working. Had to put everything on high or very high. Ultra is very demanding. At 4K but using res scaler (.60) so a little over 1440p. Using around 75%-85% of my 1080 so maybe a little tweak but I'll wait for new drivers.
No issues with frame rate or frame timing. Smooth on planets and looks decent. DoF is a little pixelated.
So a few hours left.

Actually, I'm thinking of settling with the default Sarah Ryder. She's kinda growing on me.
I went with Sarah. She has been shown a lot in the marketing so I figured the push for her might be warranted. Never played as femshep bc male shep is the only shep (/s) so this seemed a fitting chance to do so.

Playing on insanity has definitely been enlightening, particularly on Eos. Trying to go for a tanky sentinel build but it often seems fruitless when you get shredded regardless.

Do you find yourself getting pulled in and snapping to cover you're trying to run past? This was a big problem for me with ME3, which was made worse by the fact that you couldn't vault over cover a lot of the time.

I haven't seen the new cover system, not sure how it works. Looking forward to trying out the multi when I get home. I'll save the campaign for the full release, I think.

Is it really that bad? Man, I keep going back and forth on cancelling my PS4 preorder and wait for Persona 5. The reviews hit on monday right? I'll wait untill I cn get some impressions of performance on the standard PS4.

This was my fear. The extra 10hr early trial + future save games being on Xbox for Scorpio swayed me to that platform even though I could experience the Ps4 Pro '4k' glory. Also had a couple of friends grabbing the Xbox version so multiplayer makes more sense there.

It there some kind of lore as to why all the aliens races speak the same language and we can all understand each other or is that meant to be overlooked?

So here's a curveball: I find Cora a bit dull and PeeBee's kinda charming so far. I expected to greatly favor Cora.

Cora reminds me of Ashley. If she doesn't develop more of a personality or an interesting backstory I will probably be leaving her on the ship as I did Ashley. She is cool looking though.

Yeah, this is the only Mass Effect thread on here right now that doesn't look like it's been lifted from GameFAQs. I was very close to logging off for a few weeks as well, so it's nice to see a reminder that this forum can be a great place.

In two they mentioned the universal language is Basic like a lot of sci-fi properties do. Kind of a simple explain away but whatever.

Not really, it's more like, you want cover? Okay just get close to the cover and it'll make your character duck down to represent that you're in cover, but there's no hard snap to the wall like in ME3. The only issue I had was that I would get hit sometimes even when I was supposedly in cover, but I do remember getting hit while in cover in ME3 so I'm not sure if that's something new and different.

Any Quarian class in Multiplayer?

Huh.. I totally didn't check, I saw custom female faces that are better than anything in the single player presets and some Asari classes.

Edit: Just checked, there's Asari, Krogan, Turian classes and classes with one of the new alien races but no Quarians.

Just played an hour and the writing so far is really bad. This is amateur sci-fi fanfiction levels bad but maybe it's just the prologue. Other than that the game seems fine so far. Graphics are good although the frame rate on Xbox One is rather bad. Will definitely wait for reviews if the story and writing stays like this.

BRUUUUUUHHHHHH!!! The multiplayer is
generic-fire.jpg

Shit is on point. Hella addicted to it already. Man just when I thought ME3 multiplayer was fucking fantastic, they went and dropped this bombshell on me.

If ME3 multiplayer is a .50cal sniper rifle

Andromeda multiplayer is a nuclear warhead.

The fast paced action, the jump jets, the dodging, the climbing up on top of buildings, the fact that enemies can come from below and above you now, the new gun sounds, the new sprint and jumpjet melee, power all have their own cooldowns so combos out the ass, the very fast movement, and once you get a momentum going, man its like a fucking pain train of fun.

my god.

Man with the human vanguard. im just fucking DOMINATING the score boards. Jumping all up in niggas faces and shit, shotgun blast, nova, then charge the next guy and punch him in the face(which restores 20% of my shield btw) followed by a shockwave that sends him flying into the abyss.................man this shit is just too good.

Even if the campaign was complete garbage(which I havent even started yet) i'd be completely happy with just the multiplayer.

Any more multiplayer impressions? I'm trying to decide if I want the multiplayer bad enough to retain my preorder.

Also, any word on how multiplayer affects single player? Do I have to play to a certain point in single player for multiplayer to give me single player rewards? Do MP-to-SP rewards "degrade" over time like galactic readiness in ME3, or are they permanent? I'm trying to gague if I can just jump straight into multiplayer at launch and still get single player rewards.

Damn, some rough impressions so far.

You're breaking my heart gaf!

:(

You should filter out some of the buzzkill noise. The boorish children fancy themselves wannabee Yahtzees. There are some issues but the kiddies are blowing them crazy out of proportion. I'm fairly safe in saying you will have fun.
