Not to mention it sounds like their entire operation is predicated on giving publishers a way to not give those hours to their own internal teams. Borderline scab labor. Like a temp service in the physical labor realm.300 is 7% of total staff?
4200 people?
It's absolutely crazy
They're a massive support studio. More than 20 teams all over the place. They've done support work on a ton of the biggest games released over that last 15 or so years.300 is 7% of total staff?

This industry is in a very poor place, when regardless of a game succeeding or not, people will still get fired on mass.

Why are you shocked or confused? Microsoft set the precedent with Tango.
If Hi-Fi Rush's acclaim and success wasn't enough for Microsoft, no one is safe.
Microsoft has cancelled a bunch of games and closed studios which causes support studios like Virtuos to have less work to doThe fuck does this have to do with Microsoft?

Glad I went the trade routeIf you can't find a job in your actual profession: LEARN TO CODE, DUMBASS!
And if you do learn to code, you're still getting fired, because who needs coders in the age of AI?
What? This isnt about MS employees. Or MS at all, except them maybe seeing how the wind was blowing.Messed up… if you felt safe as an employee anywhere in ms, this should be a total wake up call. You can put out a smash hit and still lose your job. Maybe MS will buy square now.
I just assumed they would have shifted them to the fallout remasters. Guess easier just to fire them.

Garbage developer, even patching Oblivion has been a pain in the ass. Hopefully they can find better talent after these layoffs, otherwise just shut down the studio.!Responsible for the success of Oblivion? The only thing they could take credit for is how poor of a port it is. Pretty sure every last positive about that experience can be attributed to people who used to work at Bethesda in the early 00s. At least Todd had the good sense not to let the public see one single sliver of it before shadow dropping it.
I did not know they were working on Delta, but now I suppose we can start worrying about the technical aspects of it.
Surely devs understand by now that they are effectively contract workers?
Good enough for gamepass is the max it would ever get.Oblivion will never be fixed then. What a fucking clown world we live now...

The was 100% under this impression. I appreciate the clarity about my error. Cheers guys!I think some folks are under the impression Virtuous was an MS studio owing to their work on Oblivion Remastered.
Virtuous is a massive company, they work with pretty much all major platform holders and publishers.

Yup. Wiki has it. The are a Singaporean company who has 25 offices spread out across the world totaling 10 subsidiaries and 4,200 people. Never heard of them but they do tons of helping do ports according to their game list. They definitely cant be the main studio doing ports most of the time, but probably a helper studio.300 is 7% of total staff?
