I've been trying out several streaming services with their premium tier since I got a new Home Theater that supports Dolby Atmos. I decided to pay for Netflix Premium and Max Platinum.
I am satisfied with Netflix. I've been enjoying it, but after all it's the service I've been using for years with the Standard Plan.
Max however, I've had it for two years with a deal I got from a third party, and I had the basic plan. I realized that there were some movies that did have Dolby Atmos and 4K even in the basic plan. I watched Dune and Dune 2 with Dolby Atmos BEFORE upgrading, and I thought it was like a taste so you'd get enticed to upgrade, so I did. Obviously, I thought there were going to be more movies in 4K and Dolby Atmos.
But, it's the exact same. Which got me confused.
So today, I spoke to customer service, and they confirmed that there are only 26 movies in 4K and Dolby Atmos. I am not sure it there are more movies in 4K only, but there are not more movies with Dolby Atmos. They charge you a whole premium plan, their most expensive, to only have 26 movies! That's a scam right?
Netflix keeps raising prices, but at least offer more movies in 4K/Dolby Atmos, and Disney+ seems to be the king of it, since they offer many other formats (I found out today during the call), but definitely Max is a joke.
Being cynical, streaming in general is horrible now, but what Max is doing here is just absurd.
