I don't know if it's on purpose, but the arches behind Max in the second poster make it look like he has wings similar to the dream demons.

No. It would have been really damned awesome if the director directed the actors. It was pretty to look at though. The cinematography was on point.

hope he maintains the same constipated expression as in the games... I always thought it was fitting considering the game was called Max Pain... really, i could understand why he needed to blast those guys, something like that definitely puts you in a fowl mood

Max Payne was about a guy who has nothing to lose, nothing to live for and him doing everything to get revenge, not some kooky god vs devil story replay ala Constantine.

The only part that has me worrying is the 'what did we just see' that mila kunis says. i would guess valkyr wouldn't produce the same hallucination for two people.

or its just used to make the film look more interesting and sell it to more people that dont know the game (that worked for some of my friends). demons and the devil are more interesting then a normal "cop wants revenge" story, at least for the marketing of the film.

Complete speculation, but I think that where they're heading with this movie is that the Valkyr drug effect allows you to see things that you normally couldn't see - things that are there but beyond our perception. And that you can see the demons that are actually at work in this world when you're on the drug. Which is obviously a completely different storyline than the game.
