About 1,129,000 pieces of Wii software sold already. Wii sold 89K this week for a total of 555K hardware.

EDIT: All according to Dengeki.

Hmmm...so we're comparing a 2.0 overall attach rate with the Wii to a .84 overall attach rate with the PS3? So when are some new PS3 games supposed to hit? And wasn't PBR the last new Wii game of the year for Japan?

Wow, an .84 tie ratio is horrific. How many PS3 titles are available in Japan right now? Anyone know?

RR7, Genji 2, Gundam, Sega Golf, Marjong fight club, Motorstorm, Blu-ray "softcore" game, Sonic and AC4 (both released yesterday)

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...

Reggie lied. :)

Nintendo may have shipped that many, but the game did not sell over 100,000.

I'm sorry to pull this way over from page 7, but this is in reference to EBA sales in america. And I'm curious what your source for this is.

Yes but I don't think it will happen. GC did about 900k-1m units in 2001.
Oh and I think you meant in 2001 since GC launched in 2001.

Yes, I meant 2001. My sales data has 2001 GCN sales at 795,206 for M-create, while Famitsu at 925,000. I was referring to the M-create data, since this is an M-create topic.

Are those numbers for real:

1. Nintendo DS Lite - 319.708
2. Wii - 108.237
3. PlayStation 3 - 70.942
4. PlayStation Portable - 48.962
5. PlayStation 2 - 37.730
6. Xbox 360 - 17.168
7. Game Boy Advance SP - 1.867
8. Game Boy Micro - 1.491
9. GameCube - 1.152
10. Nintendo DS - 158
11. Game Boy Advance - 42
12. Xbox - 3

Damn, not even the best sold through for a tales I've seen helped ToD to have some legs. Well at least its not bomba-territory where Tempest is, as it hasn't reached 150k yet and its first shipment was 200k.

lol at zelda mod damage control :lol

First day unconfirmed estimates (from sinobi)
PSP Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops - 100.000
PS2 Seiken Densetsu 4 - 100.000
360 Lost Planet - 20.000
PS3 Armored Core 4 - 20.000

Damn shame I don't understand what it says about Tales of the World! ><

It says that MGS was meant to be a Monster Hunter-type hit, Lost Planet bundled with X360 is around 5000 units and something about my Tales following MGS but no numbers easy to me to understand so wtf!

Tales won't have its revenge on MGS ; ;

good sales for mgs! it could be over 200k on the chart.

i think it would be a good idea for namco to give the tales releases a rest for a couple of years so they can work on something to rejuvenate the franchise because it looks like people are tiring of it.

Did he say SD4 is sold out?
Actually the opposite, I think it says that although the numbers resemble MGS start, its shipment is quite bigger. Says something about amazon attaching the maxi single or something like that though.

I really don't understand what it tries to say about ToW. It says its behind MGS but seems both and the new color tries to revive the PSP a little which was decreasing...

I don't know how far behind is...but ToW series have never hit 100k on week openings, so it doesn't seem too difficult for ToW RM to have good numbers when compared to those.

Yeah that what I thought he said about PSP as well. I wonder if these games can ride the new year... and why there is no coverage of DQM:J. S-E games on DS bomba? :(

Thats next week. Actually I think there isn't a single interesting DS game this week, at least I didn't know any title I saw in the release lists.

Its the calm before the storm anyway, DQMJ has been #1 or near in amazon since DQIX announcement. I think DQIX has helped DQMJ a lot...we'll see in a week.

No Sonic numbers on the other hand...:lol

Oh right, I keep forgetting it's a week after ToW. :lol @ Sonic in Japan.

This will have a fundamental impact on our experience as gamers for the next several years even despite the long-term ramifications. Moreover, one has to consider the proposition that given a situation where non-gamers are dominating the demand segment, hardcore gamers may end up being alienated and leave the hobby thus putting the activity back into the situation it started.

I think that this is actually the biggest challenge that Nintendo has to face now. They hace already prooved with titles like Brain training and Nintendogs that they can reach the non gamer public. Good job, Ninty. However, they have yet to proove that they can mantain the hardcore, which has been ignoring them each time more since the N64 and which has been buying their sagas each time less. If they fail at this, they will revert back to their former state, with the added hate of the hardcores.

They have done it more or less well with the DS, although they simply don't bring any hardcore title over to Europe lord knows why . They have to do the same with the Wii. It needs its Castlevania, its Ouedan, and of course, a big fat "Dragon Quest IX". I really appreaciate Nintendo, but sometimes when I look at the European DS cataloge I wonder if they haven't become too much casual for my tastes.

Again I'm not saying what you are saying isn't true, and I am the biggest advocate of "non-games" - but I do have to say that the gaming industry is known for jumping onto fads and sticking them out without considering the specifics of the market.
I know. However, as I mentioned before, I am glad that Nintendo is the one that has started it since they are one of the most mature companies on that respect, little prone to jump onto fads (although they are experts at creating them). Also, I believe (hope) that the industry now is more maturethan this. Things like the revival of 2D shows that we are starting to remember that the last thing is not necesarily the best one. Same can be said about non games.

Now consider when everyone starts making brain-trainers, rhythm games, etc. etc. to capitalize on where they believe the demand really exists. I think it will create an equally miserable situation to when hardcore gamers were satisfied with the 31st FPS game in 3 years. Except in this situation, the losers (hardcore gamers) will be bitching all over the internet forums.
Over, and over, and over. And over. The level of egocentrism and "teh market must revolve around me, me, me, ME!!" is mind boogling.

Wowzers. It amazes me that on the same forum people accept it as a given that Nintendo caters to their loyal niche of a following while others claim that they are too casual.

Well, there are people from all over the world here, and lot of types of game fans. People in the US that imports regularily probably have a different vision of gaming that PALers which rarely imports.

With the accurate data and sold-throughs...damn, Mana is going to bomb without good word of mouth :/

Both PSP titles did really good, ToW nearly beats ToT first week!...I hope they have some legs and not dissapear from top50 next week though. Damn shame it can't beat MGS :D

Will it even match Xbox's? Maybe all those JRPGs will help push it, but I'm starting to worry that the BD audience is the audience for those games and further appeal will be limited.

Well: I wouldn't buy a 360 solely for Blue Dragon (assuming I was making my judgment based only on RPGs) but I would for the slew of them coming out in 2007. So I could easily believe that there's a greater market of people who could buy the system a little further down the line. Hard to say.

So, 31-50 looks like this:

31.) Chocobo & the Magic Picture Book (NDS, Square Enix) - NEW ENTRY

So Chocobo did, what, like, maybe 30k? That's not... so.... bad....

EDIT: I haven't played the game myself, but I'm sure a lot of people will rest easier tonight knowing that Portable Ops put up great numbers in Japan. Also: it's interesting to see that the hatchet job on Tempest doesn't seem to have affected people's buying patterns for other Tales games. I'm glad in the abstract that Namco's investment in TotW and their ports seems to be paying off (since I don't expect any of it to come west.)

well, to be fair, the ps3 owners are a lot more starved for games right now, and as such more likely to pick up a shitty game.

if you're laughing at how small the numbers are, then yeah. glad to see it bombing even in japan where famitsu gave it that weird review.

PS3 and Wii are selling exactly what they are shipping. It has nothing to do with demand for either one, which is far more than supply.

As awful as the game is, I will say that Sonic never sells in Japan, even in the Megadrive era, it sold scraps compared to American sales.

I'm just glad the game is bombing in all areas :)

So if Famitsu has Zelda at 181k after last week, and we're assuming it sold around 20k this week, that puts it about 200k. Out of a userbase of 540k. 37% attach rate. Not quite a bomba, sorry GAF.
