hmmm what are the odds of Pokemon DP making it to 6 million? NSMB?
Regarding NSMB: It's about 500k shy of a six million. If it continues to do about 3k per week, it'll take 167 weeks for it to reach 6 million. I doubt it'll do it, as sales will not stay as high for more than two years imo. NSMB Wii should give it a little strength, but after that, I'd think the game won't chart anymore. I'd love to be wrong though.

Monster Hunter Tri is already getting budget priced at Sofmap. At least it had a good run there for a while.

If anyone wants some Wii accessories, MH3 accessories were also marked down a lot.

I wish they'd mark down those DQIX slime stands... I want one, but not at that price. :lol

I can't picture how anyone could comfortably use one, but yes, they're super cute.

I grabbed the DQIX case (not the plastic shell). It's actually really well made. Recommended if you need a new case.

I'm surprised that MH3 is hanging in there. Could I be wrong and MH3 gets to one million in the next month or so? Let's see!

Depends on it's legs, MHG Wii pretty much died as far as big numbers in Week 5 but stayed Top 30 for another month. I do think your chicken little routine was premature though

At least if Capcom announces MH3P at TGS it won't really cripple the sales of the Wii version much outside of cutting off it's legs.

By now it's selling to new players and those PSP diehards who have to be convinced to give it a try.

Not in the next month or so unless it starts showing insane legs. Eventually..I think so.

There will always be children that turn 5 who will be offered their 1st video game, which may push NSMB sales for a looong time.

Yeah, but for over 3 more years? The DS won't be around for that long (maybe).

It's not impossible for New Super Mario Bros to reach 6 million.
It gets bigger boosts during the holiday period, and the Wii game will probably also contribute to its growth.

It did almost 100k in the October to December period last year.
Though its weekly sales were also higher overall during the previous weeks of that year.
But I do think that New Super Mario Bros Wii may be able to push it back to those numbers.

Tomodachi is a strange, little monster. And good work, MH3. Keep it going.

It's a game that heavily emphasises social elements, no? In this manner, it's sales aren't all that surprising - as more people get the game, the game has more and more value.

I wonder if Tales of VS will surpass TotW RM2 sales LTD.

It won't - RM2 is over 300,000+. VS hasn't even reached the LTD of RM1 yet. Most likely it will end up in between RM1 and RM2

The 6 million mark is more possible for New Super Mario Bros. than Pokemon Diamond / Pearl. Famitsu data:

Code:
New Super Mario Bros. (25/05/06)
-----------------------------
Year | YTD | LTD
-----------------------------
2006 | 3.818.214 | 3.818.214
2007 | 1.176.939 | 4.995.153
2008 | 377.034 | 5.372.187
2009 | 164.000 | 5.536.000
-----------------------------

Pokemon Diamond / Pearl (28/09/06)
-----------------------------
Year | YTD | LTD
-----------------------------
2006 | 4.302.815 | 4.302.815
2007 | 1.094.389 | 5.397.204
2008 | 227.226 | 5.624.430
2009 | 85.000 | 5.709.000
-----------------------------
New Super Mario Bros sooner or later will match Pokemon / Diamond Pearl. It will have a big boost in sales when New Super Mario Bros. Wii comes out. Maybe in 2-3 years it will become a 6 million seller. Diamond / Pearl has also a chance to do that but its sales decline sharply year over year. I say it has a 50/50 chance.

Awesome, thanks for the updates on DQIX. Haven't played it but from all accounts it's a great game so I'm glad to see the series climbing to even loftier heights. Will be interesting to see how the tenth iteration on the Wii fares, although I suppose with essentially no information about it it's hard to even guess how it might do versus it's predecessor at this point.

I think cvx first made the comparison, but MH Tri is tracking very closely with Dynasty Warriors 5 right now. Tri had slightly bigger first week but the next 3 weeks have been very close. If Tri sold exactly like DW 5 the rest of the way, it would end up at about 952K according to Famitsu. I expect it to end up selling more since it still has a decent amount of units to get through, but its a pretty good comparison for now.

I personally expect MH3 to be bringing up the rear during the holiday season. If it makes it into the bottom part of the Top 50 in December, it can sell another 50K or so that month.

But still what? Did you not see that picture with fat PS3s at 40,000Y sat on the same shelf as a slim pre-order for 30,000? Hell, I'm amazed they sold 2000.

What's the initial shipment again, 250K? It'll make up for these weeks of low sales by about 230K then, pretty nice.

I can see it being a type of title that gets a big word of mouth push, but not sure what you mean by social elements, unless playing on a DS with your little virtual friends is considered a social activity.

I must admit I know very little about Tomodachi Collection, but I always presumed that it was a title that promoted interacting with other players through the game. If so, then with the greater number of players the greater number of possible interactions is increased, and thus the game gains greater value. It's a positive cycle that feeds itself, and should end up selling to anyone (or everyone?) interested in that sort of experience.
