Why is Wii Sports up top with fewer units than Dargon Quest?

EDIT: This got answered, apparently was a typo.

Can't believe MK is back in the top 10.. that's incredible. It's been hanging in the teens and twenties for the past year or so, but to get back into the top 10 -- wow.

Wow, Dragon Quest Monsters already almost at a million. I'm shocked at Square Enix's betrayal, after a performance like that.

It found a three mushroom power up. Or learned to snake.

Yet another week without a single PS3 title in the Top 30. And considering the #30 game is probably only about 5,000 units, that's saying a lot.

great numbers all around

NSMB passes the 4 million mark
Mario Kart should pass 2 million next week
DQMJ should pass the million mark after two weeks

and what is MGS doing on the chart?? :P

I really am surprised.

It is almost as if PS3 had never launched there yet.

Wii has 6 consistent titles on the top 30charts and PS3 titles are a rarity there, I don't know if any title has made it to the top 15.

how and when is sony going to catch up?

According to PS2 software sales, japanese are more than ready to get full into next-gen and leave PS2/GC/XBOX stuff buried in the past.

Numbers are lower overall than usual right? Post-holidays I guess. From the looks of it, January is a pretty slow gaming month in Japan although in America there are a lot of big releases.

What is this DS Menu Collection btw? I really can't imagine.

Launch week and the next 2 or 3 to follow.

Or ready to get full into new-gen?

EDIT: I don't mean for this to seem like a garbage post. I just think the assumption that Japan's lack of interest in last-gen software indicates they're ready to jump into what GAF considers next-gen is problematic.

Pokemon D/P should cross 5M combined within the next few weeks. How far away are they, exactly?

Dang, of the Top 20, 17 are Nintendo games.

As for the numbers, kind of expected. Everyone must be taking a break after the New Year's splurge.

Wii Sports at 61,399, so Wii HW at 70-80K?
If we take Nintendo's shipments through 2006 to be about 3 million, and their target is 6 million through the end of March, then that leaves 3 million to be shipped in about 13 weeks (Jan - Mar). That breaks down to about 75k per week per region on average, if the three regions are each allocated the same number of units. I would guess that Europe might get a bit less than NA and Japan, and if they are still ramping up production, then January might average a bit less, and March a bit more per week.
