You have absolutely no clue what you're saying and have not played the Souls games. Like, no fucking clue lol.

i havent played BB yet, but the combat looks similar to ninja gaiden black somewhat, while the souls games have combat thats too slow for my taste.

Also, holy crap at Disgaea 5. Does it always sell this low?

no, not at all. it's also usually not a ps4 exclusive.

i think it's very likely that similar to zelda, disgaea is a bigger title in western territories now. i would imagine a steam version is in the works.

Its nice to see more JP devs are finally getting on board with doing PC ports also. And whats even better is sales are reflecting that there indeed is an audience for it.

If they do make a D5 PC port will most def fill a gap for a specific genre that is generally missing from the PC for the most part.

Bloodborne isn't similar to Ninja Gaiden Black at all. It's basically a sped-up version of typical Souls combat with more of an emphasis on aggressive attacking.

Probably right, I know I'll be buying a copy as soon as it launches here, love me some Disgaea.

Disgaea got robbed. Should have been released in a dead week and on Vita as well. I want to play it but I'm swamped in games right now(bank holiday weekend yay!).

There is only one thing they actually need to learn. Release a PC version. Don't know many Steam threads popped up how worthless Square Enix was and they would probably not buy the next entry due to the technical shortcomings.

Yes thats Deception IV. Sometimes its better to not try to make literal translations.

Ohhh! I did it right then :D

Nowhere close to NG bro.

Oh broh! FFS! I'm still waiting with the coke and hookers in Amsterdam. Where the fuck did you go??

You can say that if the actual sell through %ages come out.

Considering there were constant reports of BB being sold out / hard to find Id have to think it did well with its first shipment. Esp considering the not yet filled out PS4 userbase for what is considered to be a title made for core gamers.

That's for sure. But I expected the first shipment to have a higher number.

Hm, makes me wonder what would be better. Constant shortage which might piss people off or a high initial number which could "wow" people, thinking that's it's definitely worth it to buy the game.

The first shipment numbers are most likely made off of data based on the amount of users in the country + mixture of numbers of Demons Souls (mainly due to it being a SCEJ exclusive title) and Dark Souls (just because its related to the other titles) Pretty easy for Sony to do.

*First shipment numbers as in how many units Sony decided to get pressed and packed for sale.

Who do you think keeps buying them, so that the company keeps pumping out this many versions of mainly the same general thing. Outside of their cooking / rhythm game.

Otakus obviously. Just nitpicked about the term "hotshit" which I think is really more applicable to bigger things like Kancolle and Love Live.

Considering how everyone is going for the *safe* route. Yeah shortcomings are preferable as that might lead more people to buy digitally as well(Anyway. even in Japan it's around 10-15% according to reports?). And having unsold merch cost money. I do not know how it works everywhere but here in Europe publishers can be forced to buy back unsold copies. Usually just the non biggy pubs though. As for just sheer mass of shelf space, do you mean like just create a mind share through size? Does anyone actually care? I think I can see it. Just find it silly.

Not bringing up second hand as I haven't seen anything that has to do with second hand sales actually killing sales of new games.

We live in different worlds. Most of my friends are female. Most of them in Japan and they are the ones buying that *hotshit*. Most of my male dudes there rave about retro games and how everything was better before and Monster Hunter. Anecdotal evidence is best evidence. /s

Atelier Shallie's sales were down about 10K in its first week of JPN sales in comparison to Escha & Logy.

In fact they are down since Meruru, the decline for Shallie may be worrying though (its LTD number could be a bit higher, we're still waiting for the Top 1000 2014)

Arland Trilogy
PS3 Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland 47,456 / 91,639 Gust 2009-06-25
PS3 Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland 72,836 / 133,495 Gust 2010-06-24
PS3 Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland 100,722 / 144,998 Gust 2011-06-23

Dusk Trilogy
PS3 Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk 75,874 / 102,145 Gust 2012-06-28
PS3 Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of Dusk Sky 58,169 / 91,538 Gust 2013-06-27
PS3 Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea 54,554 / 72,811 Gust 2014-07-17

Similarly the Vita ports' sales are declining too (Ayesha lack data after fist week and E&L should be a bit higher than 20k, Dengeki had it at 22 last time it charted)

PSV Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland 30,956 / 57,000 Gust 2012-11-29
PSV Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland 24,996 / 39,506 Gust 2013-03-20
PSV Atelier Ayesha Plus: The Alchemist of Dusk 12,253 / 12,253 Gust 2014-03-27
PSV Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky 16,612 / 19,877 Koei Tecmo 2015-01-22

We aint talking about Social Games / Anime. This is about retail sales of video games. And the real trend is that Senran Kagura is still selling to its crowd at "acceptable" levels hence the constant new title output within the series.

Media Create Sales: Week 12, 2015 (Mar 16 - Mar 22)

29./00. [3DS] Etrian Mystery Dungeon <RPG> (Atlus) {2015.03.05} (¥7.538) - 5.870 / 82.215 <80-100%>

Now it came back. It's selling more than Untold 2; it was also supply constrained for a couple of weeks.

The gap continues to widen.

Disgaea got robbed. Should have been released in a dead week and on Vita as well. I want to play it but I'm swamped in games right now(bank holiday weekend yay!).

I think that releasing on a different week would have only affected sales by 5K or so. I still believe that digital sales for Disgaea games (which usually require at least 100+ hours of gameplay) are probably a bit better, and the game will do well in US/Europe due to the lack of JRPG for the PS4 so far. That's total speculation though.

Similarly the Vita ports' sales are declining too (E&L should be a bit higher than 20k, Dengeki had it at 22 last time it charted)

PSV Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland 30,956 / 57,000 Gust 2012-11-29
PSV Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland 24,996 / 39,506 Gust 2013-03-20
PSV Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky 16,612 / 19,877 Koei Tecmo 2015-01-22

Those sales are dropping really fast...the games are very similar, and probably should not be released yearly...I have been holding out until Atelier hits the PS4 to dip in...hopefully it will make it.

Are you serious...

Eh, well there's no way to know, I guess. But when a slew of games are coming out all at once, with games like Bloodborne obviously overshadowing it, I'd have to think it'd do a bit better than that if it had its own spot in the limelight.

01./00. [PS4] Bloodborne # <RPG> (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2015.03.26} (¥7.452) - 150.245 / NEW <80-100%>

Nice sell through, especially for Sword Art Online, Bloodborne and Senra Kagura.

05./00. [3DS] Theatrhythm Dragon Quest <ACT> (Square Enix) {2015.03.26} (¥6.264) - 61.073 / NEW <40-60%>
14./00. [PS4] Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance # <SLG> (Nippon Ichi Software) {2015.03.26} (¥7.776) - 22.872 / NEW <40-60%>
Terrible. Disgaea 5 is a big flop here. I also expected much more from Dragon Quest.

13./05. [PSV] Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition <ADV> (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2015.03.19} (¥2.592) - 23.229 / 59.822 <60-80%> (-37%)

If anything they are being sober about the amount they can sell...always something. Right ( -_・)?

But I'm not really into Neptunia, the Noire release is still sitting on my shelf unopened. Just bought it because of Sting, backlog and Bloodborne killing everything. Is it a good game? Do they usually sell well?

Eh. It seems people's opinions rather vary. The typical player might say no since like the rest of the series it's pretty low budget. Who knows though, I've been surprised by some favourable opinions on it.
Usually sales are pretty low. The typical games sell 30 to 35K on opening and gets lifetime sales of up to...50K maybe?

[PS3] Hyperdimension Neptunia - 22.574
[PS3] Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 - 32.751
[PS3] Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory - 36.189
[PSV] Hyperdimension Neptunia PP - 29.933
[PSV] Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth1- 31.811
And more often than not, that happens to be most of their shipment. I know U completely sold out in its first week and had sold 48,786 copies in two months for example.

Disgaea games really only sell to Disgaea fans. It isn't something that the average gamer would have more of an inclination to pick up even if it was the only new release.

I m more interested to see how much PS4 fell next week. Is it going to be a free fall from
46k -> 30k -> 23k -> 15k -> 12k

or goes something reasonable numbers
46k -> 35k -> 28k -> 25k -> 22k

I'll start reading the thread and I'm sure I'll laugh a lot.

please do share your insight, on both the funny and serious.

Thanks. Well it looks like they are within their own expectations then.

Just wait until Dragon Quest gets announced, and the subsequent months until its release...

I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it.

hmm, just been in a few DQ threads, recently since I'm fairly new on GAF(wooohoo 2 years soon), and all the PS4/3DS shit is killing me. People should know it isn't coming to mobile/3DS/PSV to begin with. Even Horii says so but that doesn't mean it wont be there later in any sort of form. Shinra has to do something right? ;)
But I reckon it's this back and forth you mean?

This was what I was fearing. Can't believe D5 did that bad

Lots of people going to be out of a job :/

Considering the 50%±10% sell through I reckon they didn't expect much either. But didn't they say something like 250k? Which included ROTW?

Well if you only look at the PS3 games it may looks like it's worrying, but for the overall series they are still selling more than most games of the PS2 generation and the trend is pretty similar except overall the PS3 games have higher sales.

Also Atelier has always been a yearly series

Any idea how it's performing WW? Seen a lot more of Koei in Europe as of a few years back. Even more so than State side and it's rather puzzling tbh. Since it's kinda a 180 from pre 2010. And no it isn't France only, although they can be seen at a few conventions there as well but they are really around. Heck, the whole Anime/Game circuit are present these days. Even in the Scandinavian region. And that is puzzling.

I would go with reasonable numbers just because their are still some decent games coming in the next weeks like:

April 2nd (Meh)
EDF 4.1

April 9th (Decent)
DS2:S
MLB 15

April 16th (Western Titles Sell Well)
Dying Light
Saint Row 4:R

April 23th (Meh, will sell more on Vita but it's something)
Toukiden Kiwami

and so on till MGS5 comes out.

Nice work, but there's one missing in here :p

150 PSV Atelier Ayesha Plus: The Alchemist of Dusk 12,253 12,253 Gust 2014-03-27

We got a minor bounce back up from Ayesha -> Escha, nothing to write home about though.

(There was also Rorona Plus, but I can see why that wouldn't be counted)
