LOL, most of us FF fans will wind up picking this up on PS3 over PS Vita.

Well I'm double dipping. FFX is personally one of my favorite FF tiles plus X-2 on the Vita will be a godsend. Playng it on a small screen with headphones on so no one can hear and see what you are playing like the way it was meant to be

...according to what was posted on 2ch. But it is 2ch, so it's best to wait until the blog makes the post public.

At least we won't have to be embarrassed about the laughing scene anymore!

Sell-through:

[PS3] Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice - 40%
[PSV] Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice - 30%
[PSV] Conception II: Shichisei no Michibiki to Mazuru no Akumu - 30%
[PS3] Dungeons & Dragons Collection: Mystara Eiyuu Senki - 40%

No sell-through for Conception II 3DS (probably a flop)

Maybe we can extrapolate from Sinobi expected shipment.

No, they've been confirmed for separate releases on Vita in Japan. Square Enix has stated that development is further along on those builds. If Sony's smart they'll launch them as timed exclusives for Vita.
Thanks, I must have missed that announcement.

I don't want to make a full prediction because I don't really care about the rest of the games we're discussing here, but I think it's fairly likely that MH4 won't hit 2 million within the period we're discussing at retail. MH3P sales rose so quickly on the back of it being the begining of the holiday season and that only made it to 2.5 million after 12 days and some here are predicting 2.7 million with just 4 extra days of tracking?

On the extreme high end I'd say 2.5 million and the low end 1.5 million with roughly 2 million being the most likely number.

I don't remember the Dungeons & Dragons shipment, as for Masou Kishin it would be very very dissapointing sales, the two previous episodes were in the range of ~80k FW

W101 was released today. Its on the 86 place in the amazon rankings right now. To put some perspective, Lego was in the top 20 at its release. :(

But, the game is on eshop since a couple of hours ago and its already number seven in the rankings, so at least i can say that the game is gathering more attention than Yakuza! lol

Those are some terrible numbers for all those games. I know OG Saga isn't really top tier in the SRW franchise but those are some low ass first day numbers if true =/

And Conception is doing awful too, it's the kind of game that is massively frontloaded. I still don't understand why retailers ordered so many copies. The first game sold 50k.

Here are all the shipment numbers:

Initial shipments from sinobi

[PS3] Dungeons & Dragons Collection: Mystara Eiyuu Senki - 50K
[PS3] Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice - 80K
[PSV] Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice - 40K

[3DS] Conception II: Shichisei no Michibiki to Mazuru no Akumu - 30K
[WIU] The Wonderful 101 - 30K

If Masou Kishin III did 44k the first day at retail, it might not be very far off 80k in the first wekk (and we will most likely never know how much the digital sales are either).

3DS 3rd party should be higher and closer to DS when we get the 2012 top 1000, and with MH4 it should jump ahead of it for a while at least.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
So, third party sales between DS and 3DS are almost on par, and MH4 should guarantee 3DS being higher for some time. But maaan, so many sales lost for Nintendo due to Brian Age audience going mobile; thanks to this, on 3DS, first and third party software sales are on par.

Still, this doesn't count digital sales, which will become more important in the next years.

Now look at FFIV DS sales. Using Square-Enix Logic they'd be bankrupt by now!

I don't think they were too happy with FFIV DS sales, but that came so quickly after FFIV Advance I'm not sure what they were expecting. FFIII had the luxury of being the first version since the original. Too bad they cheapened out with FFV on iOS...at least they should have given it the FFIV DS treatment...

What is exactly special about AC:NL carts? Do you guys think that Pokémon will use those carts?

I think I would prefer having it on the Vita for portability even though the PS3 version will likely be a better deal. I'm not sure how widespread that sentiment is though. I expect the PS3 version to sell twice the number of copies as Vita.

In Japan that sentiment should be common, but the userbase for the Vita isn't favorable.

Gonna do this since it seems like it will be interesting.

Predictions:
[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 (16 days) - 2,258,346
[PS3] JoJo's All Star Battle (32 days) - 542,942
[PS3] Final Fantasy XIV ARR (34 days) - 111,111
[PS3+360] Lost Planet 3 (32 days) - 111,000
[PS3+PSV] Sen no Kiseki (4 days) - 105,842
[WIU] Zelda Wind Waker HD (4 days) - 102,300
[3DS] Little Battlers eXperience Wars (4 days) - 54,222
[3DS] Hardware (35 days) - 551,584

So any reason as to why Lost Planet 3 will see a huge decline compared to Lost Planet 2?

What is exactly special about AC:NL carts? Do you guys think that Pokémon will use those carts?

Animal Crossing: New Leaf used a cart that contained a memory chip called SLC-NAND, which allowed the game to save a massive amount of data very quickly.

This is what initially led Animal Crossing: New Leaf to experience retail shortages in Japan, as these carts had to be specially ordered, and AC:NL was more popular than Nintendo expected. So for future games, if demand exceeds initial supply, it would be hard to replace them quickly.

Considering the breadth of Pokemon X / Y, I wouldn't be surprised if Game Freak makes use of the SLC-NAND enhanced cards as well.

I was going to make the Next week...on iOS joke for FFV but its been out for months taunting me with how ugly it is and how poorly it controls.

People are going to riot when they do the same thing to FF VI, only this time there will be twice the sales and ten times the number of apologists/people crying out for blood.

Well I found this interesting:
...the company’s goal is to reach a total of 2.8 million units sold after seven months of Monster Hunter 4’s release.
Source

The link also says there are no plans for MH4 on Vita (shocking).

Why is it with Monster Hunter Capcom have reasonable (and modest) expectations, but with pretty much any other series they go insane.

I knew it had to do with saving, but just didn't know what exactly. Thanks. I imagine Game Freak would want to use that since save times in the DS games could take quite a while.

Sorry but this is notably less money than Puzzle & Dragon made. I hope you enjoy mobiles and tablets.

You seem to be taking our new mobiles/tablets overlords nicely. :p

Also from that article, their new focus is on adding (more) online functionality to their games in order increase playtime.

This presumably relates to their plan to have mountains of DLC, because if people aren't still playing, they're less likely to buy DLC: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=542523

Monster Hunter is a bit different for them and I can't really see them changing their strategy. As far as I know, all of the DLC in the mainline games have been free. But they haven't added new monsters or areas via DLC. It is like on-disc DLC pretty much for the most part except for new armor.

That's true. I was just talking about Monster Hunter since it seems Capcom treat it differently compared to the rest of their series.

I feel that the value of merchandise (other than games) makes brands like Monster Hunter and Pokemon into different beasts than normal game franchises.
