Weeks 3, 4, and 5 are beating the trend. Seems the price cut has worked.

Not really. Week 5 AC (After Cut) is the same as Week 21 BC (Before Cut). It will only work if they can keep it like that.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

But 3DS after the second week started a nasty trend of costant consistent decreases week over week, while now, starting from a lower top result ( 200k ), it obtained to resist much more in the following weeks, and we can see that especially now.

Launch

2nd week 3DS - 210k
3rd week - 90k
4th week - 60k
5th week - 50k

After price cut

2nd week - 110k
3rd week - 60k
4th week - 55k
5th week - 50k

The results corresponding to the 5th week are equal, but the way 3DS reached it in these two different moments is different. Very different.

EDIT:Whoops, I thought 21 was 2! Sorry! XD
And... what BurntPork said about the 21st week.

Actually, it's a bit more than Week 21, and Week 21 is when Flare Red and SF64 launched.

Well...

Weekly average before price cut excluding launch week: ~39K
Weekly average after price cut excluding initial sales week: ~67K

So anything above 40k is good.

Also, my other point with that statement is that the price cut started by selling half of the launch amount. The following weeks however are selling more than the 50% comparison.

Ratios:
Price cut/Launch: 197k/375k = .52%
2nd week pre/post: 110k/210k = .52%
3rd week pre/post: 60k/90k = 66%
4th week pre/post:- 55k/60k = 92%
5th week pre/post:- 50k/50k = 100%

At this rate the following weeks should see the 3DS outselling the launch aligned weeks. So the legs of the system, with the price cut, has gotten better and has worked.

So far...

3DS dropped another 5000.

That's.. not bad?
3DS is putting up respectable numbers.

Media Create (Weeks: 29)

NDS 2,499,174
3DS 1,776,605
PSP 1,460,422

I really think people are underestimating Nintendo right now.The recent price drop coupled with Nintendo software will lead to explosive sales in December. No matter what the media says,I believe the 3DS will be very successful. However,NDS numbers are almost impossible to replicate for several reasons.

I expected Xillia to sell a lot but, wow, I still didn't see that coming.
I expected 400K back in June ,but somehow Comgnet went crazy in August...then we realized that Xillia was going to be special.

i think PS3 still have a year and few months till the new successor of it is launched.. and i dont believe Wii U will be the start of the new generation.. atleast MS and Sony will be using wait and see policy before changing their original plans for next PS and XBOX
X720 -> 2013/14 ---- PS4 -> 2014/15

-We're in the middle of a huge financial crisis.

-Third party publishers seem happy with the PS360 performance (Ubisoft is the one major exception)

-Sony needs time to heal its wounds. The PS3 has lost around $5 billion and started to make money in FY 2010.The PSV business also needs some time.

-The transition to high-definition consoles in most of the PAL region and Japan, the regions where the PS3 is shining, has been slower than in North America.

-62 million PS3 shipped by the end of 2011.The PS3 will not reach the 199 price point until the back half of 2012.

The whole idea behind this (Samaritan) is to tell the hardware manufacturers that this is what you should be doing down the road.

I'd like to see it (next gen) at a time when consumers are going to be ready to adopt it and jump in whole-heartedly.I'm not in a huge hurry for it .

I'd rather wait until they can bring out hardware that can do Samaritan affordably than bring out something super high-priced and the market adopts it slowly as they wait for a price drop

I'd hate to say that the Wii U is late; in fact, you could almost argue that it's early.

They're aiming for a point beyond the current generation – they're just not leapfrogging it. One can certainly envision a future a couple years down the road where we have some significantly leapfrogged generation and then the Wii U again becomes a system that's not easily portable between the other platforms

Watch our rivals go next-gen first

because Nintendo’s approach was not to upgrade much on its basic hardware – Wii doesn’t even support HD resolution – so they might be the first to move

As I remember, PS3 basically has a good/big game coming out every week/2 weeks till end of this year. Dark Souls, Ni no Kuni, FFXIII-2, Musou etc.
Dark Souls and Winning Eleven 2012 look promising (FW: Demon's Souls ~ 40K ----- WE 2010/11 ~ 215K)

On a serious note I wonder if Nintendo will launch the new Wii model this December in Japan and finally give it a price drop. It has a steady flow of new releases for holidays and holds Mario Party 9 and Dragon Quest X for 2012.

I think a million units for 3DS in December is a safe bet, but I wonder if it can pull more as 2005-2006 DS; MH will move hardware for sure, Christmas is always good for Nintendo and Mario, Mario Kart and Inazuma Eleven.. omg

3DS should sell gangbusters, and it should continue after the holidays too. honestly they prettymuch have every single major japanese game franchise coming to the system. How many consoles can boast All of nintendos major franchises, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, Tekken, Street Fighter, Layton, Ace Attorney, Inazuma 11, Metal Gear, Musou... All it needs is final fantasy and its basically secured every single high selling franchise in japan. Iwata wasn't lying when he said he was going to "invest" in third party support, sheesh!

I don't know for many publisher is this christman/new year more a nightmare.

From what I understand the ICO/Colossus bundle is by far the most preordered SKU and the one azalyn estimated 100k initial shipment. There will be 3 SKUs that will be tracked.

Ironically, they're still missing a major Pokemon.

Yeah, my understanding is that it is a separate SKU as well which is considered a completely different product.

It's definitely not just a bundle of both games together, but a unique product.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up Dragon Quest Monsters in this thread, it's the highest selling third-party franchise on Nintendo systems. Seriously we are looking at six million+ sellers in 6 months on 3ds now.

GBC:

Dragon Quest Monsters Terry's Wonderland 333,114 /1,911,107 98/09/25
(2nd Best selling third party game on GBC)
(5th best Overall)
Dragon Quest Monsters 2 Ruka Verison 501,081 /1,253,013 01/03/09
Dragon Quest monsters 2 Ell version 133,723/480,582
(These are the same game minor variations)
(3nd best selling third party game on GBC)

GBA:

Dragon Quest Monsters Caravan 210,427/593,812 03/03/29
(3rd best selling game third party game on GBA)

DS
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 633,084/1,467,179+(Budget 84,323) 06/12/28
(2nd best selling third party DS game, only behind DQ9)

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 682,014/1,284,434

Yeah the DQM games are quite big. This is great news for the 3DS, the lineup for 2012 so far seems good enough to keep the momentum going after the insane December releases.

I'm sort of surprised at everybody's Senran Kagura predictions. Didn't know it was going to be that big of a title.

This is just speculation and not very unexpected if it really happens but looking at some retailers reports, amazon and comgnet we could see a big drop at Xillia's second week numbers.

That was to be expected no? I wonder is the drop will be bigger than what we usually see for Tales games.

The game isnt out before Thursday (22. September). If someone is selling it already, it is because they got their hands on the game early :)

This would be very expected if true.

Well, let's post all the top20 Comgnet weekly chart to clarify everything.

[Wii] Dragon Quest NES and SNES I · II · III Final Fantasy Anniversary 25 - 527pt
[PS3] Tales of export Syria - 183pt
[PS3] Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Edition - 90pt
[PS3] Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Ver. - 42pt
[3DS] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina 3D - 30pt
[Wii] Family fishing is your computer Bundle - 27pt
[Wii] Everybody's Rhythm Tengoku - 26pt
[PSP] Trichoderma Survival Food! - 22pt
[PSP] Grand Knights History - 22pt
[PSP] G Airu Village Diary warm Monhan - 21pt
[PSP] 6 Special Dynasty Warriors - 18pt
[PSP] Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker PSP the Best - 18pt
[PS3] GOLF 5 PlayStation3 the Best in Everyone - 17pt

[PSP] ROMANCE profuse blooming flowers Month (Limited Edition) - 14pt
[PSP] DX or Ru ~ ぽ Taiko Drum Master - 14pt
[NDS] Atsumete! Kirby - 14pt
[3DS] Pokemon Super Scramble - 14pt
[PSP] Persona 3 Portable PSP the Best - 13pt
[PSP] Mobile Suit Gundam: Ambition of the new Gillen - 13pt

Xillia did 183pt, an enormous drop from last week awesome performance.

[PS3] Tales of Xillia - 1743pt

If this week Xillia follows the same ratio between points and effective thousands of units sold ( 1743/526= 3.31 ), we would have a second week of about 56k, for a total of 582k, so still not over the 600k shipment.
Other notable things for the week are DQ's result, far better than MRV (390pt,IIRC - 140k), and also that Zelda actually saw an increase after the 20 pt of last week.
Seeing how it has been a good indication of 3DS' performance in last weeks... maybe the announcements REALLY had effect on hardware?!?

Family Fishing looks to have nice legs. I'm happy that Prope's finally managed a hit!

I definitely see Inazuma Eleven Go and Super Mario 3D Land being hurt from the fact that there are so many titles being released this Winter.
Given the lower amount of total users, I definitely cannot see Inazuma Eleven Go getting near 1 million.
I think Super Mario 3D Land may make it there eventually, but definitely not this year, but it may be harder for it than Super Mario 64 DS or either of the Super Mario Galaxy games.
And Monster Hunter Tri G may be hurt a little, due to the fact that there are a lot of other titles (which it in turn will also be likely to detract sales from) designed for more core gamers.

I definitely see Mario Kart 7 being the big winner this holiday and onwards though.
