Yup.The general gamer doesn't give a shit about the trainwreck Resident Evil calls a story either.

RE:R story has nothing relate to the main series , that might be one of the reason why people skip this. I'm judging this from my feeling when I skip MGS PSP (even if I have chance to play) because I have no interest in the spin-off game whatsoever.
After 2 weeks RE5 did 475k, 383k if we're looking at PS3 only. Revelations actually had significantly less 2nd week dropoff than RE5 did too, it may wind up with even better legs.Even without those they still got over 600k (which you said it didn't), and yes I expected RE:R to do that well because I was under the impression it was a full blown game, and from what I saw, it looked like it had high production values. I still remember some gaffers saying it looked better than RE5 on 360 which I thought was hearsay but you get the point. If what you're saying is true (i.e. the promotion and hype weren't there for RE:R) then I admit that my prediction was unrealistic.
Capcom's poor advertising skills in the UK have killed this in its second week, with all the focus turning to RE6, even on TV, making Revelations a distant memory very quickly.
You're the first person I've seen posting that has said that, although I can't really say I've been looking too hard. However, I saw about four adverts for RE6 whilst watching Man City vs. Everton recently on Sky Sports. I was stunned. Seeing Darron Gibson score the winner for Everton (being a United fan) helped me overcome the shock, though, haha ^^Actually, I've seen rather a lot of RE:R advertising ("We are Veltro..." etc. etc. ) over the past couple of weeks - more than any other third-party 3DS game, so perhaps it's a case of what channels you're watching? By contrast, I saw one RE6 teaser within a day or so of the game being announced (which was shocking in itself - the game's nearly a year off!).
Exactly what I was thinking...It could have ridden the success wave of Just Dance and Minna no Rhythm Tengoku.isnt jacko like mega mega popular in japan? i'm thinking if nintendo had handled the experience it could've done very well
Very valid point, and one I hadn't considered!I don't know if it's that typo thing
PAL version of Revelations doesn't have the typo fault. It's a stock thing for sure.I haven't seen a copy on shelves in the UK since launch day, so perhaps more of a stock issue, I don't know if it's that typo thing. RE6 adverts is weird enough, maybe they had ORC ads booked but decided to run these instead?!
Not really sure one can say it did well, considering it sold considerably less its first week on a popular portable than the previous title did on a last-gen console in its death throes as well as much lesser than that same old title did on the same popular portable. So glad photokano did well. I added 1 to those sales.
You work at a retailer? Is that low shipment matter confirmed for specific European countries, or are you referring to UK only? The typo thing is exclusive to the US release. We've just had a low shipment from Nintendo and Capcom for the first week, and they need to restock again. Come on! It must sells for a good time in Europe too!

Thanks, In future they should think about giving Europe some exclusive typos, don't want to feel left out.
Decent numbers for Ragnarok, probably about what was expected.
Gravity Daze on next week's chart.
Beyond that... *crickets*
Good People Die the week after Gravity Daze.
Good People Die the week after Gravity Daze.
Which will clearly be outsold 3:1 by the 3DS version.
Hard to know since most likely no version will chart.
It will be fun to watch how it does on 3DS versus Vita.
Next year, the Wii U will have a competing console with an infinite money supply which is the successor to a very popular console and has an inventive hook that threatens to keep users of that predecessor from switching tracks.
Wait, Wii have sold 12 million since its launch in Japan, while PSP has sold 18 million since its launch?
I don't know why I had this picture in my head of Wii being the one with most sold units after PS2. :/
Hard to know since most likely no version will chart.
So what's the 3DS/PSV lineup for February?
It's not Sony platforms that makes tales successful in Japan. It's more PS3 being a really strange anomaly.
My thinking exactly, since its easier to track software sales than real sales, so why dont sony, MS or nintendo release anything ?
The 3DS version will definitely chart.
I'm curious about this too. Is there a full list somewhere?
The 3DS kind of has the advantage of not very viable competition.* The Gamecube had a far more popular, already entrenched competing console and another competing console with an infinite money supply.

It does have the first-mover advantage, though, and it will presumably have a price advantage. Gamecube situation should not happen, but it could still easily emerge in a place other than first.
* from a consumer purchasing perspective. I'm not saying that PSV is a bad system or anything, it's just that the price difference is not justified in the minds of a typical buyer.
How did 999 do when it was released here in Japan? If that charted, than we can be pretty certain Good People Die will as well.
If not? Mmm...
I wonder why 3DS' more significant games are all released in one week instead of being placed in different weeks. As for Vita, there's nothing that looks like it will do respectable numbers. If Gravity Daze bombs, I have little hope for any Vita software in the coming months.

Ninja Gaiden? Maybe?
I have to guess that you're talking worldwide with the 720, as that certainly won't be the case in Japan. Or am I missing some other console planned to launch in 2013 from a company with an infinite money supply?
And they've about sold the same amounts of retail software. *shrugs*
Even limiting it to home consoles, there's PS1 in-between.
Gravity Daze on next week's chart.

A port of a port of a port? Yeah.... I don't really have a good feeling that it will do well.Ninja Gaiden? Maybe?
I think it should be fine. New Love Plus has the week to itself. Tekken and Theatrhythm won't likely sell to the same crowd (and both will be front loaded). Mario and Sonic will have a week to itself(and I'm assuming won't even sell all that great). And New RPG and Metal Gear Solid will be attracting to different genders.
*SNIP*
It will chart.
Stick around, the shows only begun. =]Man, you gotta love how the early cycles of consoles bring all the crazies into sales-age threads. Some of the comments this week are truly LOL-worthy.
Wrong.Drops for everyone this week!
Is it becoming a regular thing for Western games to break the top 10 in Japan.
I mean out of all games, Dragon Age 2???
Downloading now...
It's still modest I think but some titles having launched last year and in January tend to have legs. I hope RE:R can follow the trend and eventually outsell REØ (400,750 on GC, according to Garaph).I think RE:R is doing great, considering this is the first real RE effort on a handheld (I think).

Downloading!? Well then you certainly aren't helping it on next week's charts, are you??
sarcasm. Enjoy it. Enjoy it hard.
Also, I wonder about how Theatrhythm will do. I cancelled my preorder this morning (based on opening-day 8-song DLC at two bucks a pop, MichaelJordanLaughing.gif) and the clerk chuckled a bit in the middle of his kashikomarimashita.
