Its a reenactment with a two camera set-up recreating events in a more dramatic and narrative focused way. The story is probably for the most part true, what's onscreen isn't.

Oh course certain stuff is "scripted" or set up. I know film and movies because I have been in the industry, but I have also seen and been around a lot of people who are very socially awkward. This dude is a loser for a reason, you don't pay women around the world for attention if you already have good social skills. These people are on camera so of course dialogue is not going to always be genuine. Use your brain, if it was all fake and scripted there would be no reason to do reality TV in the first place. Shit will always be played up for more drama but to say it's all fake and scripted is not ture.
