The Good: Seven games featured, including the previously unreleased Mega Man Battle and Chase; excellent emulations of each and every game; unlockable artwork.

The Bad: Some of the later-era Mega Man X games aren't all that good; not all that much unlockable content compared to the last mega man collection.

Mega Man X Collection isn't nearly the resounding success that Capcom's first Mega Man compilation was, but it's far from a failure. Any fan of the Mega Man X series that doesn't already own all these games in some form or another ought to give this collection a try; it does a fine job of chronicling the series' ups and downs, and provides a good measure of extra content to back it up. Certainly, the package would have benefited from more in the way of unlockable content--especially since there are really only two truly great games on this comp, and the rest merely range from solid to mediocre. But as it is, X Collection will please the series' longtime fans, and serves as a good primer for those who never had the opportunity to check out these games back in the day.

X6 at least had the crazy Ninja armor that gave MM the ability to crawl on ceilings and do neat-o sword attacks. Shame the game really isn't all that great though.

X1 PSP is this month as well isn't it? I may hold off for that.

I look forward to starting off from X2 (already have my X1 fix with Irregular Hunter X) But man, where are the dub voice bits or arranged music? :/

Considering that X1 through X4 are all awesome and some of the best SNES/PSX games released, I have to wonder what two they think are the "only great games".

The first two X games are just about on par with some of the better games in the original Mega Man series, but the measure of quality declines bit by bit the later you get into the series, until you get to X5 and X6, which just aren't very good at all (though X5's bosses are all named after members of Guns N' Roses, so that's pretty awesome).
X1&2 - As good as the best Megamans.
X3&4 - Decline in quality.
X5&6 - Waste of ammo.

(Just a translation, not my opinion.)

I'd say 5, 6, then 7 were all declines in quality (though 5 was still damn good) and 8 brought it back to greatness.

I guess I can kind of see why some people would think X3 was a little decline, but X4 was definitely better than X3. To each their own though.

Anyone know if Best Buy'll be stocking this? Because the $10 coupon would be nice.

Can't find it on their site, but that doesn't neccesarily mean much.

How much longer do we have to wait for the bottom of the barrel Mega Man collection featuring Mega Man Soccer, Mega Man & Bass, the Mega Man Legends series, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and Mega Man: The Wily Wars?

I believe Dash 1 & 2 are on PSP in Japan (hopefully they bring them here). A 3-game collection with those and Tron Bonne would be great though.

I liked Mega Man Soccer. :(

what the christ

Who did the porting? Because the folks who did the first Mega Man collection did the absolute worst job possible, with the most gaudy and slow as hell front ends imaginable.

Wow! I just saw this (PS2 version) and it runs in GOOD OLD "240P"!! That's gotta be the first retropak this gen that actually use the sweet video mode from the past. Thumbs up, Capcom! Too bad you didn't do this also for the recent coin-op collection...
