Mega Man X Command Mission: What the hell is going on?

PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS oh god i am drowning in them
I think must be a masochist, as after going through the pain of playing Mega Man X 7, I still picked up Command Mission and started it last night. I'm not exactly sure what I feel about it, because I haven't been so lost as to what is going on in a game since Chu Chu died for my sins (not that I've actually completed Xenogears, but I digress). The game throws you right into some mission about some tower and a plant, and then there's this Shadow guy (who?), who at the end of the dungeon deflects to Epsilon (OH NO ITS REALLY SIGMA) and then all these robots are born from the blood of Christ and holy shit some of them had malfunctions during the third trimester and now Zero's gone and sexy robots with laser chains of penetration and WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN THIS GAME?
The battle system is mildly interesting so far, at least when your party consisted of more than just X, and I'm far too much of a Mega Man whore to quit, but does this game keep going batshit insane, or have I skipped to many X's to even begin to understand why I got the impression X is now the Hitler of robots. ("You're still reploids, and I'm a reploid hunter!")

I liked the music, that's about it.

HEY DID YOU HAPPEN TO SEE SPIDER??? OH NO I SPOILED THE GAME

WINK WINK WINK

Command Mission doesn't really follow the regular MegaMan continuity, so go fish.

I threw continuity out of the window along with X7 when Sigma's crotch laser knocked me off a third dimensional platform for the hundredth time.
Its not even the lack of continuity or whatever could be considered continuity in the bastard land of Mega Man X, but I just honestly have no fucking clue what this game is trying to put together as a "story".

Eh, the story in Command Mission isn't any better or worse than a standard MMX game. The character designs (especially Absolute Zero/Ultimate X) are pretty rad though.

The bad guys try to conquer the world and the good guys try to stop them

Not to mention the smorgasbord of asinine conversation smothered in between. Not that it isn't to be expected, but there just seemed to be a lot of shit going on that they stressed the importance of, that just made no sense at all. Was there a cut-scene that I accidentally skipped at the beginning?

So anyway, about how long does this game take to complete?

Not very long, you can breeze through it within a week at least. You don't really have to bother leveling up either, just go at your own pace.

20-25 hours. Although after sidequesting and whatnot, I clocked around 40-50 hours. o-o

Forget the sidequests, they aren't worth it period. Just beat the game and SELL THAT GARBAGE.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting your comments but I have a strange feeling that you do not recommend this particular game for fun and great enjoyment.

Am I correct in this assumption? How about for 20 bucks?

Sell it and get MMX8. Awesome return to the roots of the series, best X game since X4(personal favorite of this poster). People not into oldschool gameplay will be turned off, though. :P

It's a fun game. Assuming you find incoherence amusing, the ending is the best part.
Having a random battle every time you take a step is a bit annoying.

But I think it is worth doing the sidequest for the unlockable art.

yeah - get MMX8 instead - a game with gameplay from 1993. why should gameplay actually evolve, hu? i will die in every screen a hundret times, i will drive with my motobike through stages with unfair places.

MMXCM isnt really a blockbuster, but it is good. the character design, music, extra stuff and the fighting system are good. if you like megaman legends, this game shoul fit.

I actually laughed out loud after reading that.

Nubbe, that is a very cool animated avatar. What anime is it from?

ONTOPIC - Ive been told (I haven't played past X5) that its basically Zero versus the world, while X slowly becomes a dark mechanized god. Megaman will sooner or later become omnipotent, get corrupted by all the borderline orochi power that he holds in his hand cannon, and Zero will be forced to fight him. Then there will only be Zero. Still fighting against his own kind.

....and then there's Roll...

Fuck that shit.

X's scarf > *.

Also, it's got a pretty fun battle system - sort of like a hacked-up bastard son of Xenosaga or something. It's full of Mega Man logic, so there's no need to even try to make sense of the plot or anything. Just shoot stuff, and marvel at Zero's surfer dude voice. :lol

Okay, pay attention, see: there's this one side, the side you're on, that's the Resistance. And your main enemy, the side they're on, is the Rebellion*. And ... uh, I never got it either.

* Not making this up

The Resistance... versus the Rebellion. Wow.
I mean I gather its a case of dumb versus dumber, but Capcom may have gone too far.

Didn't the BOF: DQ team do this game as well?

They did.
I'm enjoying the game. I like switching scarf colors and deploying the doodz for more money. I think I'm all hot shit using the GCN-GBA cable to find "treasure."

And I think everyone will agree with me that Cinnamon is the cutest, most innocent reploid in the history of Megaman games. "Here I go! Take that!" as she playfully bats her little gloves or syringes at the enemy.

All you need is Zero / X / Cinnamon on your team and you can easily finish the game. Ignore all the others.

This is true. The rest of the characters (save Spider) aren't even important to the plot anyway (is it me, or do the female characters say nothing else of importance after they're introduced?)

Use her special ability. Sorta how X has the Charge Meter, and Zero has the Combo Meter...

Use the palm of your hand to quickly rotate the C-Stick for maximum power!

Save her transformation for boss battles, as it powers up her healing ability as well.

Also, equip her with various Force Metals that crank up her meter so that she can unleash this ability much more frequently.

she's got that spell that increases weapon energy, and that super that heals the whole party. if you do it right, you can heal the whole party completely every turn.
