We have a couple of years left of Megadeth, the american thrash metal giants have announced their forthcoming album will be their last. They will also embark on a farewell tour in 2026.

Heard em live a few years back, the singer sounds terrible but it was still awesome to see them. Glad I went.

Dave's voice has been cooked for over a solid decade at this point man, but will try to catch a show. One of my favorite bands of all time. Hence my username.

Truly a legendary band that deserves to retire, hopefully in grace. Megadeth is my favorite metal band and the main vehicle for my love of metal. It sucks I could never see them live, but I can at least live in peace with the amazing music that has graced my ears over the decades. Thier music got me through a lot of hard times and helped me channel my anger in a healthy way.

They are the only really big band from that era I've not seen, for not particular reason or maybe they just didn't tour as much, but I need to make an effort to see this farewell tour. Lots of singers are cooked these days but if they are just playing the hits it doesn't really matter as everyone is just singing along anyway.

Glad to have seen them twice before Dave's voice really went to shit. Their new albums have been pretty unremarkable as well, but I'm hoping he can pull it off for one more great record.

Love the band and I just was listening to music from their latest album. They still put out quality music. Last I saw them they were touring with Fear Factory. They still sounded great then and still had David Ellefson in their lineup. Not sure if I would want to see them again, not being in their prime.

Even though I've always preferred Metallica and Slayer I can't deny their legendary status. Rust In Peace is a pure masterpiece.

I'd consider going if Dave Eleffson and Marty Friedman were brought back into the band for the final sign off, but I don't really care about the version of Megadeth that is "Mustaine and whoever he currently has playing for him now."

I have no doubt Mustaine could get those two fan favourites back in the band for a farewell tour, but the only reason he won't is that the other guys are cheaper.

Hopefully he'll do covers of all the Metallica songs he wants everyone to know he wrote.

I recently listened to him on the Shawn Ryan podcast and wow, he is still pretty bitter about that whole thing. I really should separate out all the songs he says he wrote to see if I can tell a difference from the rest of their early output. Metallica is getting a dedicated channel on sirusXM so hopefully thats the kind of thing they devote a few shows towards.

Megadeth were like my gods when I was a kid and they were Mustaine, Friedman, Ellefson and Menza around the time of Countdown to Extiction. It was amazing to me and my younger brother to go back and discover their previous albums, and returning home from buying Youthanasia, Hidden Treasures, Criptic Writing the time they were realeased and listenning them in one sitting was for us like a religous experience or something. We really love that band.
Then Menza got fired, Risk happened, Marty left...
I still bought The World needs a Hero album and the Rude Awackening DVD,. Al Pitrelli was a cool dude and and I knew Jimmy Degrasso from Suicidal Tendencies. Excellent line up.
Then Mustaine got injured, dismantle the band and he and Ellefson parted ways.
I got to see then live around 2010 before Ellefson rejoined, so it was Mustaine and some other guys. I haven't listened to any new material from then ever since.
So this is like hearing that that really good friend from high school you haven't heard from in many years is doing one final album and tour.
I was gonna write dying but didn't wanna sound grim.
I'll be there when that final show happens, maybe we might see again what remains of that epic line-up that turn us all into metal heads.
