I'm personally partial to Megaman Trigger (the last one) for no particular reason...probably because of his storyline

Way to post the ugliest version of regular Mega Man.

Mega Man 2 is still the greatest, but X is good too. I can't stand the Battle Network storyline and designs. Don't care much for the Dash games.

The amazing thing is that all four are awesome in almost completely unique ways. I could never rank Dash vs EXE vs Classic Megaman because I get an entirely different sort of enjoyment out of playing each.

Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, and since it's a compilation of all three, Mega Man The Wiley Wars (love the remixed Genesis BGMs!) are far and away the best games. It all went downhill from there.

Anyone with taste is going to pick from the first three MM games, with MM2 leading the pack. Was there any doubt? :D

And I still say Battle Chip Challenge is the worst one ever.

I never played Battle Chip Challenge, but I don't see how it could be worse than the Bandai version of Rockman & Forte for the Wonderswan. :)

Geez what's with people always picking 2 over 3? Mario 2, Sonic 2, MM2, were all outclassed by their sequels. MegaMan 3 is the classic MM game. While I do like #2 alot it's just not as slick or anything.

I just couldn't get into three for some reason. I felt the music in 2 made the NES sing and as cool as sliding megaman is, it just made me want Strider even more (thanks Genesis!!). Plus 2 had a really nasty near end boss that forced me to die at least once. ;) Took me a good week to figure that one out.

Total crap. 2 rocks 3's ass in every way, particularly the soundtrack!

Two words: Bubbleman Theme

GAME OVER!

Mega Man 2 and 3 are THE uber classics, too hard to choose between the two.

Been having alot of fun with the MMZ series on GBA also, but will have to see if they stand the test of time like MM2/3.

eh!? Not Metal or Flashman's themes? Those are the ones that get stuck in my head...

But I do accept your point that 2's music is mostly better then 3's. :)

Part 2 was just such a revolutionary step forward, not just for the series, but for all action platformers in general, in terms of level design, art, music, etc. But I still technically like 3 better. It just took part 2 and added a tiny bit of polish, though most don't seem to notice it. Either you like Bubble Man's theme, or Magnet Man's theme more than the other, it really is as simple as that.

Yeah, the Genesis collection is definitely the very best Mega Man to date. The music was hawt.

Trust me on this one dude, it's actually worse...

Kinda funny actually, Bubble Man's theme is by far my least favorite of all the stage tunes in Megaman 2. I have no idea why that's always singled out as "the good one." For me it's always been all about Woodman, Flashman, Crashman, AIRMAN, and particularly the Wily Stage 1 music.

3 has great, great music as well, but it just doesn't feel like quite as much of a complete package of awesomeness to me. There are a few "just OK" tunes in the mix, while pretty much all of the ones in 2 are great.

snip..

Great themes as well, but bubble mans theme just gives me chills. I would like to mention that Elecmans theme from part 1 was pretty hot too.

MM3 > MM2

That said, I still like X4 the best from an overall standpoint.

I agree.. MM3 is the greatest MM-game ever followed-up by MMX1

Totally agree, MM3 >>> MM2, especially the soundtrack.

Helll NO...

I got more words for you.

Top man, Snake Man, and ESPECIALLY Magnet Man's theme....

It doesn't stop there. Opening MM3's theme >>>>>>>>>>> Any MM2 track.

And there is more. The ending track with cast of robots >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Any MM2 Track.

In addition, MM3 proves MM3 weapons >> MM2. Heh, after beating the first eight robots you get to own the MM2 bosses MM3 weapons.

Game over.

PS: MM3 Bosses selection theme >>>>>>>> MM2 selection theme and while we are at it, MM3 theme when a boss is selected >>>>>>>>>>> MM2 boss selected theme.

These MM2 vs MM3 debates are always bloody..

As for the sound tracks, honestly, MM2 has more memorable ones. But I will agree that Snake Man, Intro, and Boss Select from MM3 own just as much as anything in 2, if not more.

Of all the games, I like MM1, MM2, MM3, MM8, MMX, MMX4 and MMX8. Only MMX7 is particularly bad, but some of the other feel quite generic.

I'm a huge Megaman fan and IMO Megaman 2 > Megaman 3

I also thought that Megaman Battle Network Transmission was also very very good. That game is seriously underrated.

I love them all except X5, X6 & X7

Can't choose a favorite... I love them equally. (X4)

And the newest addition the the series... Megaman Zero > You

3 has got to be my all time favorite... absolutely love the soundtrack, though 2 ranks a close second. I also liked X1, 2 and 4... and MM5 was pretty good too, although slightly redundant. Then the games either got, too redundant or too difficult to be interesting.

Original Megaman series > Megaman Battle Network series > Megaman Legends > Megaman X series > Megaman Zero series

IMO.
