You always pop into these threads and throw a wrench into my consumer plans :(

Hmm, it's not without its problems (mainly that it's rushed, buggy, and sloppy)... but the story is good, the pacing is impeccable, and the gameplay is actually pretty fun (it just keeps granting you new shit to do -- at the end of the day, AR gives you a ton of ways to kill aliens). Despite the choppy framerate, I'm finding myself kind of hooked... near the end of the game now. Will kill this sucker off tonight so I can write my review.

In a funny way, Advent Rising has a massive earth siege that Halo 2 hyped up so much but didn't deliver. ;)

Finally beat God of War on Spartan. FUCK that was aggravating.

MG:A PSP - I just keep playing the first mission over and over again trying different tactics. =P

Didn't get to play squat today. Work was surprisingly busy. I know it rained this afternoon, but come on people, GET LIVES. GO TO A BARBECUE. STAY HOME AND ENJOY YOUR DAY OFF. STOP COMING INTO MY FUCKING SHITTY VIDEO GAME STORE (that has nothing new) AND REQUEST CRAP WE DON'T HAVE, THEN MULL AROUND THE PLACE LIKE ZOMBIES FOR A HALF HOUR. GO AWAY. I think the highlight of the evening were these morons that spent about 45 minutes going through every DVD in the store, with the mom constantly asking her kids if she has a "boogie" in her nose. Gotta love dumb hicks.

Haunting Ground isn't doing much for me, the puzzles and environments are pretty great, but I am getting really annoyed running around through previous territory trying to find a hiding place, it's so irritating that it is almost a dealbreaker. I actually think Clock Tower 3 handled that stuff better, even if the AI couldn't figure out how to look behind a curtain. Oh and the dog control is REALLY inconsistent. It is generally creepy though, and the lack of loading is awesome.

There's only been a few spots in Haunting Ground where I got annoyed at having to run around to find a hiding place since it seemed like the AI just wouldn't give up, but I'd rather have that than be able to hide in the same spot over and over and have the AI leave like in Clocktower 3. Remember that ducking behind open doors can actually work pretty well at times too.

Controlling Hewie can be a pain sometimes, but remember that you HAVE to keep him obedient...give him praise constantly and scold him when he doesn't do what you tell him to. One trick is to make him sit, then go up to him and hit the "sit" command again. You'll play "shake" with him; doing this three times in a row (and praising him!) gets him very happy and eager to follow you around.

Played SWG most of the day with a bunch of friends. Did some big-game hunting on Rori and then three of us jumped in our ships and decided to do a bunch of dogfighting. Being on teamspeak; the space part is AWESOME with voice chat with your wingmen. Best multiplayer space combat since XvT easily.

Driving my Jedi friend to our new player city on Naboo's moon Rori:

This game usually gets such a bad rap. I whole heartedly agree with you. Excellent game.

+1 Ashley's Song

You're thinking Wario Ware Touched. Ashley isn't in Wario Ware Twisted.

Anywho same here for Twisted...I've been playing it all weekend.

Hey Mana, can you fight for the Empire and use a Tie Fighter in SWG?

Yes.

Imperial Pilots fly TIEs and various different TIEs and with the new expansion they can get an ARC-170 (a fucking AWESOME three-person fighter complete with a tailgunner - droooooool).

Imperial Navy pilots can fly:
TIE
TIE Interceptor
TIE Bomber
TIE Advanced
TIE Agressor
TIE Opressor
ARC-170 (Imp Quest)
Jedi Interceptor (Rebel Quest)
Grievous Fighter (Neutral Quest)

Yea Lyte, I spend a lot of time training with the dog, but it's all busywork that gets in the way of the exploration and scares. Because there is no indicator to distinguish how well Hewie is responding to you, or whether your praise is actually getting through to him, the whole system just feels spotty. I have seen him do some cool things though, like distract a pursuer JUST as he was about to look in my hiding spot. Most of the time he is really dumb though.

Granted I am still very early in, but I did feel Clock Tower 3 had a lot more excitement to the chases/hiding. HG -can- get more tense given the limited hiding spots and more threatening AI, but I often feel like simply resetting if a chase sequence goes on longer than 30 seconds. I really hate running through so many rooms just to find a new hiding space. CT3 was far more lenient and gave you some neat context actions to fight back. I'll stick with it though.

SWG sounds like its come a very long way.

They also fixed the PVP so you can participate in the Galactic Civil War and help take over planets with your faction without worrying about gankers. They removed the retarded TEFs you'd get for attacking somone of the other faction (like in WoW when you get PVP flagged) and replaced it with three settings you select:

On Leave: You're basically on vacation and rival NPCs or players cannot attack you.
Combatant: You can be attacked by rival faction NPCs but not players.
Special Forces: Both rival faction NPCs and players can attack you.

So right now on my server, Rebels control most of Tatooine. When you take control of an area friendly guards spawn. So right now on my server if you run into Mos Eisley there are Rebel guards standing around. If the Imperials get off their ass and start blowing up the Rebel bases on Tatooine and placing theirs, they can gain control and Stormtroopers will spawn in the cities. It's awesome.

Yeah that sounds really interesting. If I wasnt hopelessly addicted to WoW, SWG would seem like a good place to start.

Props to SWG tho. Sounds like another OMGWTF turned success just like Anarchy Online was. Guess developers just need to stick with it.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and it fucking rocks.

Played a little of Wario Ware Twisted too. A coworker tried it, and he was laughing with glee as he played it.

Seriously.
