Mercury is one of the reason why I want a PSP, R0LL1NG B4LL GAMES 4 LYFE.

Twisted Metal doesn't look half bad either. For the new it's being developed by Incog and in the style of Twisted Metal 2 (best in the series to a lot of fans). Looks like this will be the first portable system in which I'll be doing a lot of renting for.

Wow, even with all of these horribly blown up pictures, TM looks great. Looks almost right there with TMB, only with somewhat more TM2-style asthetic. I imagine it looks far better at appropriate resolution as well, and obviously in motion. Mercury looks great, too. I'm so psyched for the PSP.

why are they blowing up the screens?

Or is that how they are after devs take screens from the Dev kit?

And they are blowing them up all wierd too. 1024x609? How does that even relate to 480x272?

Mercury looks awesome, and if they do the tilt sensor right it will be tons of fun.

BTW, does anyone know if the tilt sensor will come bundled with the game?

In a recent interview with Jez San, it seems that the tilt sensor won't even be coming out at the same time as the game. They hope to leave in support for it though, in case it comes out later.

This is odd to me. Its a nice looking game, but part of its charm is the tilt sensor, coupled to the screen that you can actually still see if you tilt it. There seems plenty of software around for launch, so why not hold off until the sensor is ready and release it as a package?

According to IGN:

"The PSP title was originally designed for a tilt sensor (and may end up with support for tilt play, if all goes well, although the CES info sheet only lists analog controller play), but we were able to keep our goo together pretty well across some very challenging puzzle levels."

I don't think we'll see a tilt sensor.

Holy cow, my "mock-up detector" really started flashing and buzzing at that last shot. That is gonna be super hi-res when it's scaled down :lol

Twisted Metal looks awesome, though I prefer the style of Black. Black = best of the series IMO. Sooo fast... that contributed a lot to what made it good. I could own my friends in multiplayer and they always complained that the game was too fast for them. :lol

Hopefully this plays more like Black and less like 2.

The playtests from CES say that the game plays more like 2 but with a few nods to Black gameplay.

The physics were good in TMB, but they were different. From what we had a chance to play in the PSP game, we have a feeling that this edition may be a little more loose and touchy, like some like.

Handling of this game (which has always made use of as many buttons as it can get) has simplifed well to PSP (Triangle selects the special weapon, and double-tapping the gas goes into nitro as it did in the more recent TMs -- other than that, the buton layout is just like others in the series), so it's just a matter of preference whether the game feels like the Twisted Metal that you like best.

Weapons in the PSP version included the exploding cans instead of the napalm fire bomb, and the zoomers seen in the PS2 game are also in this version -- we're not sure how some of the tweaks will affect the hardcore, but it's all in the balancing as far as most TM players are concerned.

FYI: you mean Archer Maclean, not Jez San. The former's an actual game designer, the latter is a fat useless nobody that thinks he's somebody.
