This whole callout-culture that's being perpetuated by certain members on GAF needs to stop, period.

Its one thing to disagree in a humane manner but it's another thing when callout culture is justified by bullshit rationalizations like "I'm just exposing their BS!!1).

That shit brings down the forum to the level of System Wars/Gamespot forums.

Personally I think it's fine to call out specific stuff as long as you @ them so they can mount a defense.

I also think it's fine to infer and make vague mentions of other users to see if they take the bait.

It's getting easier to tell who is willing to banter, who is willing to engage, who is here to build a community, and who is here merely to feed off the others and stir drama.

I dont condone any kind of callout-culture on GAF except if you're willing to engage with them directly by tagging their names.

It doesnt change the fact that Xbox Power King Memes thread is an utter embarrassment for GAF and the Xbox community on GAF, which i know isn't fully represented by that thread.
 
I'm more focused on the people burning America, but I will take some time to point out that both the Power King Meme thread, and the Next-Generation thread are warrior nests (Xbox, and PS respectively), where fanboys from each side do petty bitching and sniping, and spider man pointing meme about the other side being bad.

Pretty sure mods are well aware. They're containment threads. I.E. be a retard here, and nowhere else. Not a philosophy I personally agree with (don't be a retard at all would be preferable, or clearly marking the threads so that unsuspecting people don't walk into the bullshit), but that's what they are.

I don't think it's that serious. I don't see anything in the meme thread that doesn't also happen every day in the Spec OT. A lot of people in the MS thread claim to have been reply banned from the Spec OT long ago, so naturally that's the next place for them communicate.

And as far as this thread "losing its purpose," is it so fuckin' criminal to have a "hangout thread," kind of a general whole-site off-topic, free of the console warring bullshit that seems to somehow creep into any gaming discussion?

But I'm glad you clarified for me why that thread exists, even though the reasons don't justify it.
 
I finally blocked someone after forever. I still have to see his stupid ass laughing at every comment ever. I know I know I'm weak for blocking someone. He just annoys the shit out of me. Wish blocking would scrub him completely haha.

Putting someone on ignore should hide all of their reactions as well. You should imo also be able to opt out of the reaction system.

At the risk of starting block argument 209, lol, I don't think a well-considered block, based on a long history is anything to be ashamed of.

It's the people that see an opposing opinion, and immediately throw that person onto a block list, or need them before even meeting a person (the infamous Twitter block lists) that are pathetic.
