Before you hear the buzz from the Sony camp, I wanted to share with you some pre-TGS buzz. It seems that Sony won’t have a big presence at TGS this year, not as big as Microsoft.

However, one title that will generate Grillzone-like paranoia will be MGS4. According to rumors, the fourth MGS will be a lot like Gears of War. What does “a lot” mean? Just switch Marcus Fenix for Solid Snake, Gears for FOXHOUNDs and planet Sera for a fictional Middle-East city and you’ve got the basic premise of MGS4.

I’m not trying to detract Hideo Kojima’s path for MGS4 nor claiming that he copied GoW but wanted to highlight the similarities between both games, which could ship in the same timeframe, definitely in 2006.

I can’t share anything Xbox 360 relatedright now because that could get us in trouble. We’ll be attending TGS so expect full coverage later this week.

I think he should have elaborated on why the games are actually simillar, if they are, because this statement just makes him sound dumb.

First of all, what's so speciffic and unique about Gears of War gameplay that sets it apart enough from everything else, to be considered a trend setter that others would copy?

Or is it graphics that looks too simillar? Somehow I doubt that.

I'm sure he thought he had a great news story when these thoughts first popped into his head, but he couldn't follow through on them, and thus should've abandoned it. He's probably talking about the camera and control system, which is just like RE4. (i heard cliffy said RE4 was his big inspiration for gears of war BTW). that would probably work well for an MGS game actually, so i hope this is true..
