Little nervous about the remake. When is this supposed to come out anyways?
Why? The closest comparison would be Resident Evil remake (for GameCube), and this is even closer to the original by keeping the original performance capture and voice recordings. If you liked MGS3, you will like this.

Really? Not Twin Snakes?

There. Now people can give the game extra "soul" (or whatever bullshit they explain it as) if they so choose.

Man.. I am not really sure but I am not feeling this game. doesn't help the fact it's my least favorite metal gear solid outside of the first 3.

and the fact they are taking forever on it. doesn't help they didn't improve the animation and most videos I have seen of it do not even have smooth gameplay

Yeah, there's just something about this that looks like a fan game. People want remakes not just to pretty up existing games, but to bring games up to modern standards. Granted, Metal Gear Solid games hold better than most when it comes to how they play and look, but there was room for improvement as seen with later entries.

One of the things I notice they neglect to show in the trailer is someone's face when they talk. Original MGS3 didn't exactly have the best facial capture for dialogue. Some shots looked like weird lip flap, and since modern facial capture is not part of the original game, I'm doubting that's going to be in this game either. That's going to make this new character models look really weird during cutscenes.

But the animations are completely new? In the gameplay you can see Snake use taotosh to throw a guard, this technique has never been used or animated for any previous entries. His stalking animation is completely new, with a raised knife resembling how he moves during cutscenes etc..

Some people want it untouched, some people think it's a good idea to risk it for improvement.

Can't satisfy everyone.

Personally, I'm just glad it exists.

Oh, enough with the relativism. It was a remake...
Twin Snakes definitely dated itself with some of the cutscene nonsense. I didn't hate at the time, and I still don't hate it, but it is tonally different. It also does make the original game a lot easier but I sometimes don't hate that, because I just want to have a good time.

My biggest bummer for Twin Snakes was that getting all the dog tags DID NOTHING lol. I was hoping for some type of unlockable. I think I was maybe one of the first people in the world to collect every dog tag, because there was no information by the time I did it, and was just like "that sucks" when there was not a damn thing unlocked after I did all that :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I'm more curious to see how the "Battle scars" system will work. Iirc this feature was supposed to be in the original game but the most we got was a battle injury history list.

I quickly glance at these metal gear topics these days who's a historic franchise and since mgs5 almost 10 years ago it's been nothing but missed layups and I know making a sequel is difficult but it's weird to me nobody is talking about MGS6.
